Hourly alarms to take small breaks are the best and the most important aspect of working from home/office

I’m 15 and I currently live in south Texas. All my life I’ve loved computers so a job like software engineering I think would be perfect. I’m also a huge introvert so the fact that I can work my dream job in the comfort of my own home is amazing. This was an all around great video. U just earned a like and a sub 👍

Here some advice, Get a gym membership, go every day. It's a reason to get away from the computer, you'll go outside, you get there you'll workout and no one will bother you, you'll sweat and have more energy to do your work.
Trust me...it helps.

I think it's so important to take breaks while working and even though my watch reminds me to stand up once an hour, I ignore it because I'm so in the flow of things. That's really awesome that your company put you on a second team so you can learn backend! I recently transferred from a full-stack team to mobile and while I miss learning React and working on the API, I'm having a lot of fun working in a new environment.

I’m guilty of that as well 🙈 I just had an eye dr appointment yesterday and the doctor told me to look away from the computer every 30mins or so but I really find it hard to do 😳

I’m currently learning full stack development and Ive been wondering if there are any developers who work remotely and if they’re life looks as jazzed up or as appealing as those who work in an office. Really love this video! My husband is a programmer and works from home and I’ve been thinking about doing it myself. Soo many things I love about this career. We have kids at home so his day gets interrupted by little ones but he doesn’t mind. It’s nice to get someone else’s (realistic) perspective. New sub here!
Hi Jeanine!🙋♀️ nice to meet you!☺️ you should try it! I think this industry needs more women 😅 also imho, it’s one of the most fulfilling jobs out there 🙌 you’ll get to solve real world problems 🙃
As for work-life balance, it’ll probably depend on the company but my company is really good at it. We have unlimited pto which they encourage us to use (one of my co-workers said she’s been to a company with unlimited pto but people are afraid to use it 🤷♀️). They also have generous maternity/paternity leave. I think they give 3 months 🤔 and yes, we don’t get bothered by children and pets haha in fact we love seeing them during meetings 😍

Thank you for sharing your experience as a software engineer during pandemic. Such as you I tried to get away from my computer from time to time and have some rest from coding. I find quite difficult to workout daily as well. Definitely, workout daily is one of my top new year's resolutions. Cheers!

I work with 2 remote teams and I literally never get a chance to go outside for months. Last time I went out was in November 😁 Work- Life balance is very important and not everybody gets it.

Mas marami ring ganap ang day mo kesa samin dito! Nasa bahay lang kami almost all the time. Lalabas lang for food and supplies! We rented out an apartment, I live together with my two junior devs. 😄😁

Hey! I'm 6 weeks in a fulltime 24 week coding bootcamp. We have an assessment every Monday and we must get 80% or better to move on to the next week. If we get less than 80%, we owe an extra thousand dollars. I'm looking forward to complete and then beginning the job search. I am also looking forward to being able to play animal crossing again.

Thanks for the awesome video. The really popular ones are super glamorous and it seems they only do 1-2 hours of work a day. I've come across a few like these and ones explaining what it is like for a majority of people which I'm glad I did because I realised it's not for me. Yes!🙌 it’s the apple trackpad. I use it during the day so I don’t overwork my right wrist. I think it’s more ergonomic than using a mouse 😅

Hi Hannah! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I find these kinds of videos to be very motivational. I went from working minimum wage jobs to teaching yoga as a yoga instructor. Now, I am teaching myself all things Javascript and React because I would like to work remotely. Pair programming looks like so much fun. How do you do that? Do you just stay on voice chat with your friends while you both work on individual projects? All the best, and thanks again for sharing.
Hey Aubrey! I'm glad to hear that 😁 Nice!🙌 Yes, I think pair programming is a good way to learn. Sometimes we would work on some data structures and algorithm problems or work on a project together but we also just stay on video call while we work on our own stuff 🙂

The stack I’m working on is node, graphql, postgres and react for the frontend 🙂
