I'm learning this piece and I also want to play an arpeggio with these fingers, but I don't know what to do with the pick then to make it comfortable. ;p
I came to your channel for the buckethead, was massively impressed by your playing but for some reason really enjoyed your playing in this cover despite it being less technically demanding. Well done man, subscribed :)
Thats pretty hardcore, the studio version is definitely out of my reach for now, I can probably do the live version but I need to work out the hybrid picking part... I was planning to re-do Computer Master and maybe a new version of Welcome to Bucketheadland, we will see how that works out.
Dude you nailed it. You need to be at the top of the food chain for major guitar inspirited high end bands looking for guitarists. Maybe Mr. Big can use you if Paul leaves or Steve Vai may use you also. Love to be your guitar teacher.
Great Job. I just figured out beggining run. I can usually play most anything without too much trouble, but this when I play it fast it is hard to get right everytime. It is tricky. I need to actually practice this longer to get it perfect. Great job on the rest of the song too!
If you are playing a bunch of paul gilbert stuff recently, there is a couple lessons by him that are similar to the run in the binge and grab solo, it isn't horrible to get up to medium speed, passed that you start to stumble and play real clunky without a lot of practice. And if a lesson vid of the hybrid picking would help let me know, I would be more than willing to make one if there isn't already that part in one of my videos. Don't put yourself down, your great at guitar, binge and grab FTW
Where do you get the pick from at the beginning after the intro? I know absolutely nothing about guitar but I love watching and hearing it being played.
Yep its relatively easy to get the lick up to medium speed but if you are going for the real thing its a pain in the arse. Its really difficult because its all alternate picking and you need to "go for it". I can probably play it at about 120-125 bpm (16th notes triplets) and the song is in the 140 bpm range so its still a long way to go. To be honest I dont think Buckethead can even play that lick anymore because I've never seen it live.
Yes its an RG1XXV (I usually post the gear I use in the video description). It is a premium model but im my opinion its a bit over priced, it was about 900 euros. The pick ups are Ibanez/Dimarzio but they are actually pretty decent, definitely much better than the crap Infinity's. The neck is really thin as smooth however the fretboard could have been better as there are is a fret that does "buzz" and a few notes fret out on high bends. Anything in particular that you want to know?
Really Nice work. Can I ask a question? I really like Mr.Big's stuff, i got a Ibanez RG3550MZ, want to buy a AMP for home use ONLY, friends recommend me 2 options here. 1)Marshall dsl15c(no loop);2)Laney IRT Studio + 212 (Laney, Randall, Orange). Which option do you think is better for stuffs like. - Greentined-Sixties Mind, Anything For You, Stay Together, Nothing But Love...ect Mr.Big Stuffs. ; Also stuffs like Winger - Seventeen is terrific too :) Thank you. Hope to hear your suggestion soon
I havent played any of these amps, I did try the Marshall DSL40 though and it sounds very good, in fact I think Im going to buy one when I have the money. If the DSL15 sounds anything like it then cool. However I think it is a bit overpriced, the 40W version is only like 100€ more and the volume difference is probably significant, I understand you are going to use it at home but still... I know Paul Gilbert used to use Laney amps during Mr Big era so you might want to try them. Im sorry this probably doesnt really help you.
tapPOOH Ah, yes, DSL15 sounds like DSL 40, just smaller and without loop. online friend in my countries have different sayings about the 2 AMPs. Mr.Big's stuff is not so popular to ppl who is around my age here. Though i did sent video and mp3 of these songs/sound i want to them. They said cos I'll only use it in my 10 squae meter room, and i won't turn AMP too loud, so Laney IRT + 212 can't be fully used, cause it's 100W. When it's not turned loud, it won't give me better sound than Marshall dsl15c. This might make sense, as today i went to a friend's house, he has a Roland 40W AMP, when it's turned to 5 volumn(Max 10), i can't take it, it's much too loud. So if i buy IRT Studio + 212(100w), i might only turn to 1 or 2 volumn
Cus Promo I really like the distortion on the DSL40, handles hard rock really well. A big part of the tone comes from the guitar as well, you have a high level RG with Dimarzio pick ups so you should have no problem getting a good tone out of that amp/guitar combo. Personally I dont use the effects loop and just run my pedalboard straight into the amp but I hear some people use delay and modulations in the fx loop. I agree a 100W wont sound at its best at 1-2 volume, also it is very heavy and takes up a lot of room, the 15W is small and can be moved easily. If I had to choose between a 100W and a 15W knowing that I would only use it at home I would pick the 15W but ultimately it is up to you.
tapPOOH Great, i decide to buy the DSL15 today, DSL40 is not available here right now actually. Do you have email or skype, haha, i might have to bother you more further learning how to play Guitar well. :) Thanks for these help so far.
Well... it's quite similar indeed but it's not the same exact song. Moreover the live version in Zurich is awesome and the sound isn't that bad for a live recording. Please mate, work on it! I'm sure you'll give us another superb pearl! :D
Spencer Gould I dont use tabs sorry... I bet the chords you are having problems with are at 1:02... the first chord is: low E 9th fret, mute the a string and then D and G string 9th fret. For the second chord move the note on the low E down to the 7th fret (I fret it with my thumb). The next chord is an A#m7b5: thumb on the 6th fret low E, 6th fret D and G strings and 5th fret on the B string.
On Hybrid picking - I sort of know the technique but I need to find the notes and I can already tell its going to be another pain in the ass (lol). Man I hate those lazer hybrid picked licks. =.=
The Best guitar cover of Green tinted sixties mind
Such a great cover with flawless solo, just like Paul's play.
Thanks!
television at the back was the legend.
I'm learning this piece and I also want to play an arpeggio with these fingers, but I don't know what to do with the pick then to make it comfortable. ;p
Man that was awesome. You literally, rock.
I think this is the best song ever written and your’s is the best guitar cover ever done of it.
This was the first Solo I ever transcribed! Great performance!
I still can't figure the intro by ear, it's a bit too hard even if it sounds easy to play, dam paul gilbert xD.
Even tabbed out, or taught by someone who knows it is very difficult. It is just a stupidly hard riff
Awesome cover
You fookin' nailed it!!!
Nice tone man. Woow!!
Spot on! Great playing!
Excelente cover hermano.
Young man, that was fantastic!
Simply fantastic 👍 Love the way you played the song. Good job.

Yes, the trickiest thing is that you need to be looking at both of your hands at the same time. And thanks for the support!

how do you hide the pick in the beginning?
+Hugh Jass (iiMMoRTaL336) I dont know how to explain... i use my middle finger to hold it
I had the same question
Use your middle finger to tap makes it an easier transition to hold your pick during the tapping sequence 🤙🏼
amazzzZZZZZzzzZZzzig !!!!!
Buen cover
Parabens,muito fera.

Somebody give this man a PGM
Tab on this? For some reason I don't have trouble with the opening riff but the chords during the chorus I cant hear too well to pick out the notes.
