As a Swiss and avid cyclist, the things you see in this video are sometimes just 'a day off' for us. We should never forget how blessed we are living (and cycling) here.
@@Syndicate6363 That depends of course on the routes you want to cycle and your fitness. @@PhenomTheOne Hi, the Valais is not exactly my home turf, but I am pretty sure that it is the tunnel at the ‘Lac de Mauvoisin’. It is a great mountain biking region south and above the city of Martigny.
Now I'm even more proud to be a Swiss guy! Thanks Tyler for this. My absolutly favorite YT channel. The sound on the descents was just great! Greetings to YB... he's a great guy.
This was a beautiful video, close to tears hearing your water jug analogy. I had a 2 full jugs moment with my youngest daughter descending Col du Galibier for the first time. I followed her wheel with happy tears rolling down my face. Thanks Tyler
Went to Austria once which has similar scenery so I can definitely understand your excitement. Also so nice to have random wells with super clean & drinkable water next to the road in some places. Nature is just so beautiful in that region of Europe.
@@raymonddelange5974not all of Europe is like this. Only some parts. I think west cost USA has it all though. California is probably the best place in the world when it comes to climate and nature diversity.
Definitely good options on your bucket list ! How did you choose ? Lovely words from your wife. Here's a list of the locations I recognized : Châtel - Morgins - Col des Portes du Soleil - Champéry Martigny - Col des Planches - Col de la Croix de Coeur (the "hut") - Verbier Tunnel & waterfall : Lac de Mauvoisin Tour de France at Megève
Unfortunately there is only 2 more daily vlogs. BUT, I’m motivated more than ever to keep creating on a more consistent schedule. I need to catch up on the family time without spending 6-8 hours a day editing 😛
Video sound is always so on point - I know, random observation, but it makes such a difference! Every time you emphasize the importance of your family, it makes me realize that much more how much I treasure my time with my kids and wife. I need to take that time alone that you’ve given yourself - my wife tells me to do so but I don’t as I feel like it’s taking too much time for me. But you are helping me to understand just how important it might be to have an epic trip like this to then give me that much more reason to treasure my time with them. SO glad I found your videos. Thank you!
Makes me happy see you discovering Switzerland and appreciate it so much. Living in the Swiss mountains with my 2 boys and doing everything on 2 wheels (road, gravity, 4x etc) - it feels normal. Awesome to see your perspective and look at things a different way. Much appreciated and feel welcome the next time - would be glad to be your host and show you guys around! Cheers
And btw - we call this self responsibility in Switzerland. We are a country of 4 official languages and different cultures. There is nowhere in Europe more foreigners living - nevertheless, most perceive us as not so open minded - this principle works since some hundred years very successfully: live and let live everyone - as long as they make their share of what needs to be done. Actually the US constitution is to a major part based on the principles of Swiss democracy (sorry, just a short round in history 😅). Again - love your mission and work. Keep on going strong 💪🏽
absolutely amazing, ngl, i hope that everyone can feel the love and share the love you have not only for cycling but most importantly for your wife and beautiful family
So about a month after you were in Portes du Soleil, I went with my family. My brother and a few friends have visited many times over the past 20 years or so. Summer and winter. You describe how it feels to be there so well. After Covid and some other issues my bro and I managed to scrape together some cash to take the sting out of it and we got a chalet for 22 of us..all family parents grandparents cousins aunts. Some more came and camped and some random hippies joined too. My bro and I wanted to share the place with those we love. It’s special there. Imagine riding down these mountains on an MTB with your 10 year old son, or horses with your daughter and niece. What I’m saying is go again take your family
Would disagree with your statement about being zero regulations in Europe. We have many, they are just different. USA wouldn't let you ride through that tunnel for fear of someone sueing that state/region whatever where as europe that's your own risk (to an extent) and nobody is liable. USA is more built for cars.
Another banger of a video! I had the chance to visit Interlaken Switzerland a few years ago. One of the most beautiful places on the planet. All I could think about was how I wish I had my bike with me. I did get to go paragliding while there with my daughter so that was pretty epic. Tyler, now that you are an international man of mystery you guys should ride the length of Taiwan in as few days as possible and end with climbing up Wuling using the Taiwan KOM challenge route.
I do believe and understand what you mean. My wife is super supportive of all my cycling nuttiness. I've done some epic races in some epic places and when I finish the event and see her at the finish line that feeling is greater than crossing any finish line. Havng a supportive family is definitely priceless.
There are so many great cycling loops in Switzerland. Even my local loops near Zurich offer great views of the Alps and Switzerland has this tendency of paving even the smallest roads, so it's easy to get away from traffic.
Literally, the amazing feelings you can give through your videos take my breath away! Dude, I'm laughing and almost crying with you here. So much inspiration...... I have nothing more to say to anyone........ You're just the best ever.
Ah those first mountains above Champery, Les Dents du Midi, I have them incorporated into a tattoo. I lived in Morzine for 2.5 years and they were probably the most spectacular things you could see in the Portes du Soleil (among many). Lovely stuff.
I'm almost tearing up. Man, great edit. Happy that you share this with us. I've got my Alpe d'Huez, Ventoux, etc. dreams... as we all do, but this is cool.
That tunnel is amazing, like Tyler said, there's not much to stop you jumping into the water flow and falling 100s of metres to the lake below. We rode through it as part of a 3 day ride around the Grand Combin. We can from the Fenêtre du Durand at the border between Italy and Switzerland. The whole trip was gobsmackingly beautiful.
I am rarely watching vlogs or documentaries these days. I find them boring and not engaging. But this vlog from your Tyler (as always), kept me glued and I finished watching in one go. Thanks for such great content, I had jaw dropping moments. Also an important observation for myself is, afaik there are no fancy cameras in this entire episode. But the way you tell the story, and the stunning journey you did, is top notch.

Alps are special. It is the combination of nature and human cultivation over the centuries. Even the houses often fit into the landscape and don't look like foreign objects. I once read that it was inspiration for Tolkiens Middle Earth.
You‘re right! Tolkien visited with only 19 years the swiss alps in 1911 and took lots of inspiration of the Lauterbrunnen-valley and the Jungfrau region in his descriptions of Middle Earth. BTW so did Walt Disney …visiting Zermatt in 1953 and opening the Matterhorn in Disneyland 1959. The only natural ressources we have infinite here is great views… (as long as we protect it and integrate ourself into the nature.)
