Old Pueblo Coin
I love Spanish Colonial coins! My favorites are the fractional pieces, especially the quarter real pieces. I have a modest collection and a few of them are third party graded. I have several attributed ship wreck pieces...my absolute favorites! :-)
“Circulated Cameo” is a great term. A numismatist friend and myself refer to that look simply as “Good Dirt”. Love that look on circulated coins.
Thanks for your interesting vids.
I have a number of these coins. Mine are not slabbed. From two realest, four realest as well as eight realest. The pillar dollar is the favorite of my collection. I wear the four reales because it had a hole in it. I had a gold clasp-like added so I can wear it on my gold chain.
Very cool
Ol Spanish coins have an appeal for sure!
Wonderful show & tell today. Always appreciate your interest in foreign and ancient coins.
That's quite a variety of Reales. It's almost bizarre how they go from something that looks far worse than coins the Greeks put out in 500 BC to a coin that is nicer than what the early US issued
The early us coins are some of the most beautiful ever
Hi Ben, Thanks for the vlog! It's always interesting to learn about the symbology on some of those coins as well as the history.
I say buyer beware dealers and coin shops loved to sell world coins. The markups are a lot higher because there are very few price guides or comps.
Yeah including Ben's ridiculous $400-$600 asking price for damaged and fairly common shipwreck coins that have been "conserved".
@ethansuckbutt5495 i was shocked at how much less Ben was charging for them compared to what I see on eBay. I thought his prices seemed great but I don't know a ton about reales.
@@thekiwiclipper1113 Yeah. Ebay is ridiculous. If you are able to attend a coin show or have local coin dealer you will see he is not so cheap at all. He knows the market.
Great coins, beautifully primitive in appearance. What do you suppose 8 reales would buy in 1719 ? Fun to imagine.
For these coins and all your other coins, how do you price them? Is it by a book or are they based off what you paid for them?
Old world coins are way more rare than common US coins and often times more interesting. Also, they are a better value.
Ben - is this your Heinz ketchup release - anticipation for your video - you are late
hi ben
Very cool! Love these kinda vids Ben!
Hey Ben
Love that 1766 ❤ very nice! The rest just don't do it for me but I do appreciate their fatness 😁
Hi Ben
Does the dollar sign ($) come from the pillar dollar design? I heard that somewhere but I don't know if it's true. It would be derived from the pillars with the S-shaped banners around them.
These coins are🔥🔥🏴☠️
Cool 😎
I love these, but only on the price range where the 2024 economy can still buy them comfortably, and these are well out of it lol cool coins though, I’ll definitely stick to getting them for the low.
FIFTH!
I TAKE THE FIFTH! 🖐
Well 🐀
Pieces of eight pieces.
Circulated cameo? Sounds like something from a junk mail ad. Hopefully you don’t use that term to sell your coins for more money than they are worth.
Yo relax sir it’s obviously sarcasm
239th!
