Tony is watching the film "It's A Gift" (1934) while eating ice-cream. This is the same film he watches in the Season 3 episode "The Telltale Moozadell" as he lays in bed eating cake. Perhaps a signal to Carmela, that nothing really has changed with Tony.

It is sad that the women, lacking a means of financial independence have to tolerate often terrible treatment at the hands of their spouse, because they have grown accustomed to a certain life-style and are 1. reluctant to sacrifice life-style for a sense of well being 2. caveat material objects over self respect 2. lack a means of supporting themselves and their children
But why is it sad? I can't commiserate with them since they are themselves utterly responsible for the consequences of their choices.
