The comments below are rubbish. Understand that the ANC rose to power under external political pressure only. The ordinary oppressed of which the majority were rural indiginous, did not possess the will nor need to overthrow the Apartheid regime because they were left alone in their land within their tribal beliefs and practices... and they thrived. This is true for blacks, indians and coloureds. Separatism allowed us to manage our kind... but the seed of wanting the Western corporate life and glamor fuelled greed and this seed was implanted by the ANC into the minds of all black South Africans. This message was to fight and be reactive to the oppressor... except... we were not oppressed within our social borders.
Aparheid / Separatism would not be slandered if the borders between races were drawn up geographically like countries. Why was Transkei, Ciskei and Lesotho formally drawn into borders? Because they understood and resisted Western influence. Today, they might not be advanced by western standards but they are certainly more cultured and peaceful because they fought for their identity first before their pockets.
Honourable Nelson Mandela was cherry picked to lead the transition but there were many far more capable cadres that genuinely spoke for the interests of indigenous South Africans. Chris Hani was rightfully our hope and leader...
Honourable Thabo Mbheki inherited Honourable Madibas mess... but the real powerhouse and betrayer of the people... the one that called the shots from the shadows was Winnie Mandela. Russias love affair with the ANC was through her.
In the end... it is hoped that all South Africans will eventually see and make peace with the fact the ANC was overun, its policy rewritten, that they betrayed the deprived South Africans purely to further the interests of other countries and a minority of polititians that happened to be black. The ANC sold your vote to another powerful country that uses South Africa in its international political policy like pawns in chess.
Thabo Mbheki was our best president and was supposed to be the fall guy... but he is way to smart and saw it a mile away. Jacob Zuma fell for it and set the stage for current day South African decay. We should feel ashamed of our ignorance but instead have been taught to lie, steal and cover up the truth... and feel proud of it...
Loadshedding started under Mbeki, Guptas came when Mbeki was President. Mbeki is the father of Loadshedding and Guptas.
