    Good video! I used to grow them commercially (and hybridize them). Commercial growers wait til the end of summer or beginning of fall to dig up and separate rhizomes. It allows them to grow bigger before the dormant season, thus giving them a better chance at blooming the next spring. Thanks again, they really are easy to grow with lots of sunlight. Happy growing!

    Love that you go over the full cycle of Iris care in a clear and simple way! For replanting after rhizome cures, is it best to do it in fall or spring? Or just as soon as sliced area dries pop it where you want it?

    Thank you so much, Devin! I've been learning so much from your videos! I will definitely use your advice on my irises. Can you please, talk about other plants in this flower bed? It looks so full, natural and lush! I love the look of a completely green flower bed (no big mulched spaces in between) but don't know how to achieve it without overcrowding and suffocating neighboring plants. Thank you again for the wonderful channel.

    Very helpful video and perfect timing too. I'm a beginner with the bearded Iris but planted some I got free years ago. I have 3 large 3ft by 3ft clumps to break up and replant here in Fresno CA. Probably not until August here do to the heat. going to be 95 today. One thing I missed that I heard here was to plant the rhizome so it gets direct sunlight as it is needed for better flowering. Might have a different placement of the growth fan then. Glad I subscribed to you some months ago.

    I always heard you should wait until July or August to divide irises. I divided several clumps last year and they all bloomed, but 2 which I can’t figure out because the foliage was extremely healthy.

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  23 дня назад

    I have a few Immortality Reblooming Bearded Irises, can I divide them now or should I wait until fall? They are over grown and have a circle in the middile of the patch.

    • @jaaustin500
      @jaaustin500 28 дней назад

      Depends if you want them to rebloom this year or not as usually they don’t right after division. Irises are so hardy you can divide them literally any time but you won’t necessarily get blooms that same year. I am in zone 5. 😄👍

    HELP!! I was given yellow bearded iris by a friend last summer. I have followed your instructions for planting, but I had only 1 to bloom. They all came up with beautiful green leaves. What did I do wrong? Thank you for your help.

    Saw a good hint about dividing iris. After digging them up, look for where the green fans are growing. Anything that does not have growth coming out if it is useless. That’s the part he threw away. Had no green growth.

    • @jaaustin500
      @jaaustin500 28 дней назад

      You can divide irises basically anytime, they are so hardy. But usually anytime after flowering is best. 🥰👍

    I’ve given up on irises. They are not easy to grow. I’ve spent hundred of dollars purchasing them. I’ve done everything to help them grow. Planting them at the right depth and fertilizing them. I get beautiful foliage but very few blooms year after year. For many years. I give up. They’re not worth spending time on them. I’m digging them up from my garden and giving them away. I want them out of my garden.
