I remember my grandfather got me this set for my 8th birthday I thought it was so amazing and still do to thos day and have it on display. It means alot more to me now since we recently lost him just last week but I'll still share the memory of me and him building it together.
Probably one of the top 3 Lego star wars sets of all time. Was the biggest set I had as a kid for a long time. Had this and 2 battle droid packs and felt like I had such a an impressive army. Wish I still had it. Got lost to the bin
This is the crown jewel of my collection. The battle droid version of the clones' dropship with AT-OT One of the most fun building experiences ever. Truly an epic playset that's unrivaled in its class.
My all time favourite Lego Star Wars set. Got mine second hand for $50. Talk about a happy day! It was only missing one Security Droid. Fantastic review, I applaud the commitment to your viewers in opening a boxed example.
I always wanted this set as a kid! It was so cool looking and it came from my favorite scene in episode 1. I really hope one day Lego make another one that good and isn’t expensive
I bought this set used back in 2013 I think for $140 that was such a steal for this set back in the day. I still have this set on display too, such a great set. This set desperately needs a remake.
To me the craziest part is how the instructions literally tell you to just dump all the pieces together, sort them by color and find what you need as you're building. I didn't really get the chance to own any sets at the time so I'll admit I don't remember that being the norm. I'd actually say that in some ways this is better than numbered bags with phases. Not only does it give you an idea of the scale of the build from just dumping all the bags together and seeing all the pieces, but the time you spend sorting and finding pieces makes the building process more enjoyable (for me at least). I'd imagine this wouldn't work out with some of the newer, extremely large sets like the UCS Falcon or sets that have many small pieces. The MTT was one of my favorite prequel vehicle, purely because I liked the bossfight on that Angry Birds SW level. Can't wait to see your review on the upcoming Death Star conference room!
I don’t think it’s more enjoyable sometimes you go crazy trying to find certain pieces when they’re hiding in plain sight lol also I’m pretty sure the original ucs didn’t have numbered bags either… like the 02 star destroyer and Death Star 2
@@fivelonelyclones Yeah I do agree with that. But maybe there could've been an extra step telling you to further sort out big pieces from small pieces of the same color, but at some point you're gonna run out of desk space really soon. I'd imagine the 02 ISD and DS2 would've been very hard to build.
Love it, awesome video I really like the way you explain everything and explaining how much it cost now in days . To me I don't have that kind of money but I wish that I had the chance to get it back on 2007 but never did to my parents situation. Lego has to remake this especially since its the 25 anniversary of the Phantom menace. But In my book this will always be the best MTT set since it has many feathers.
One of the greatest Lego Star Wars sets ever made. I wished I got one back then. I really hope Lego makes a better remake of this but in the CIS colors.
I just know if they made this nowadays it'd be the size of a minivan and only able to hold about 4 droids because they'd add a stupid stud shooter type mechanism that takes up all the interior space
If you have the rear door open and retract the troop racks back in the MTT, the technic beam will push the smaller transport out. Sort of an unintended play feature, but a welcome one.
Between this and the Clone Turbo Tank, I would be happy if they remade either one or both. This is just a cool set. Wish I was collecting when it came out.
What's the best way to go about selling old lego sets like this? For reference: I own this lego set, the box, and the original instructions (used obviously).
This IS an amazing set, but seeing a review of it for the first time, I can't help feeling like it isn't as impressive as its reputation suggests. It's certainly not worth a thousand bucks to me. However, I'm probably just looking at it from the perspective of someone spoiled by 2014 and onward building techniques.
i agree sort of, it’s just lego won’t ever make anything like it again, not at this scale if they do make another mtt it’ll be downsized with like 8 droids that’s why it has such a reputation as the ultimate droid army set
I brought a fake one on AE and beides the Box its exactly the same quality like Lego. Even the Battle droids are great. So i had the feeling of this this great set just for 40$
Just to throw this out there, you can easily buy a fake lego version of this set for like $50 in most places! I have one and its almost as good, accept that the top hatch for the door doesnt stay open, so i may be some real lego lego peices to fix that, other than that its probably one of the greatest lego sets ever!
Here's an interesting topic : Dropship&AtOt VS Mtt. They are both staples of the Lego star wars history, released around the same time and both are worth around 1000$
Dropship is worth around $2k nowadays. I’m pretty sure most people consider it the better set. But the mtt is still just as iconic and definitely the best trade federation set
Yeah the straight arm makes it exclusive😂 there’s a variant that has 2 bent arms and a few other variants that don’t have a solid blue torso with tan markings showing
As an owner of the set I see a few problems with the way you built it. The first is the bigger gray circular radar dish on the droid vehicle is supposed to be on the top of the set and the smaller one which you put in the top should be in the droid vehicle. Also the big round brown dish on the front isn’t pushed all the way in.
The dishes on the front come loose every time I touch them I just stopped bothering to fix them after a while. And yeah I didn’t noticed the grey radar dishes were different sizes
I get that the grey bricks are supposed to represent scuffs and scratches on the surface of the MTT, but the execution isnt great imo. Other than that its a fantastic set though
For those thinking to bricklink it together: dont. Lot of the parts are quite expensive. Best option if you want it is to buy it used, like mentioned in the video. Even that is cheaper than bricklinking, like stupid I did.
This is my white whale... I dont even have the money for one yet, but even when (If) I get it for a sealed one I'm also scared of old brown pieces. When building dooku's solar sailer froam a sealed box some brown pieces craked...
I don't believe the security droid and pilot droid are exclusive to this set like you said, if you look at bricklink these specific versions with the solid torso color do appear in other sets, the pilot droid being in the separatist shuttle, and the security being in Anakin's jedi interceptor and the 2012 advent calendar
just got the aliexpress version and its pretty good for 40dlls ..wish lego did the clone wars version. Also $1000 dlls for this NO WAY i would pay for that
Honestly no reason it should be selling for $200 used imo, much less $300. It doesn’t seem like there’s any exclusive parts OR minifigs (the security droids could easily be parted out). At this point, it would probably be cheaper to part out the set on bricklink and not bother w the rarity that comes with simply owning the instructions and/or box
I can’t imagine it being any cheaper then $200 to part out on bricklink. Those big dish pieces on the front go for $10-$20 on their own. There’s also lots of other big brown plates that are probably pretty pricy too.
@@fivelonelycloneshonestly fair enough, maybe they can be swapped out for the newer brown color?? Idk honestly, but still unfortunate nonetheless for the steep price increase
Alright I got a new red and blue pill. Red Pill: 2 Trade Federation Mtts, set 7662. Blue Pill: Donald Trump rul- *gets tackled* Uhhh.. Blue Pill: Super Star destroyer Ucs, Set 10221.
I don't get the hype around this set. Yeah the play features are cool but at the end of the day it's just an ugly slug carrying the lamest military in all of Star Wars.

Sorry for your loss, and keep those memories, they are more important than you think ❤️
Lego should make more of these, and make more security droids in general
Also, pilot droids aren't exclusive, I got one in a microfighter back in the day but I lost the pilot droid

Ur becoming my favorite Lego youtuber fr, really relaxing to listen to and hella good review
Shame they never made the blue version from clone wars that carries super battle droids. Always wanted them to make that as a kid.
At the time I got one for around 200 or so I think, which also accidently had all the pieces for the original clone battle pack too!
The crazy thing about this, I just looked up a more modern review this morning. Thank you for scratching that itch.
I do miss the old style of box art with that banner at the top they used to switch every year
I really loved that some years we got 2 box arts like 2016 but now we get 1 box art that at least will last 5 years
I always wanted this set as a kid! It was so cool looking and it came from my favorite scene in episode 1. I really hope one day Lego make another one that good and isn’t expensive

While it isn’t genuine, I’ve found fake Lego sellers selling this exact model for less than 40 bucks, which is by far the best alternative to this set
Legit watching this vid cause I just bought one of those knockoff mtts, marstoy is such a cool site

Wouldn't this set be tied with the UCS Mos Eisley cantina for the most Lego minifigures (counting all the B1s and droideka)?
