      No country has more competitive 400m runners than the USA.

    • @1ramyus
      @1ramyus 2 года назад +1

      @@edwardjones717 Quite opposite. The US has several of the best runners, but only those 1-3 from the US trials. The rest is not "special" at all. That's why, to win on the international level in the 4x400 meters relay, the US has to use runners from different disciplines. Like in Tokyo 2020. The US has some formidable runners but doesn't have good strength in depth in 4x400.

    • @edwardjones717
      @edwardjones717 2 года назад

      @@1ramyus Okay now I'm lost with this comment you just made. Are you saying since the USA uses runners from other events to combine their 400m relay team means that they really don't have best 400m runners in the world. Despite the fact that they hold world records in the men's and women's mixed 4X400m relay, men's individual 400m relay and have the second fastest world record time in the women's 4X400m relay?

    • @edwardjones717
      @edwardjones717 2 года назад

      @@1ramyus The reason why your comment is false and don't make any common sense is that if you made those runners quit running the individual 800m and the 400m hurdles and force them to concentrate on running the individual 400m they would still become dominating in that event too.

    • @1ramyus
      @1ramyus 2 года назад +1

      @@edwardjones717 The reason for my comment is ... you. After every US defeat, you say that the US lost, just because not the best US runners were running. However, these US athletes that lost, are those from positions 4-xx in the US trials. Not 15th-20th in 400 m. Yes, Polish Justina Ersetic will lose 10/10 times in the run against Athing Mu or Sydney McLaughlin, because they are from a different planet, but time after time US girls from 4th down, are losing to the Poles. So, to assure that the United States will win in Olympics, the US has to put together runners from different disciplines. All of the giants. But if the US team will rely on - let's say - Courtney Okolo, there is no guarantee of winning. In fact, a good chance of losing. No disrespect to Okolo. She's still a great runner, one of the best US runners, but she isn't in the same league with Dalilah Muhammad, and well within a reach of the best Polish runners.
      If you look closely at all Polish squads in different worldwide events, each time there is a different squad. And all of them are 400-meter runners. Not 800 meters, not hurdlers, and others. And there is a wave of new Polish girls behind them. All specialized in 400 meters. In Tokio there was Natalia Kaczmarek. She's very young, just in 2017 she was 7th in the European U20 Championships and 6th in Polish U20 Championships. So, nothing spectacular. Now she was in the first leg woman 4x4 in Tokyo, and the second leg of 4x400 mixed relay. And there are more of them. During European Championship 2019, the British commentator said "Poland has so much strength in depth in this discipline". Just because each time Poland sends a largely different squad to 4x400 and since a few years, Poland usually wins that relay. Unless they meet the US and the US puts THE best possible American squad. The squad, that combines all the best what America has across the board of all disciplines.
