Congrats Matt! 🎉 I just took the CA Seismic Exam, thought I had passed and got that State Examination Failed email yesterday at 5am. It’s the worst email to wake up to. I really needed this reminder because I’m honestly feeling like shit. Thank you for this uplifting video.
Congrats brotha!!!🎉🎉 I have tried passing the PE Civil Con exam and have failed 7 times it’s so hard bro. I am at it again and not going to stop trying. But what I have learned over there years I getting better and better even though it’s tough but at the end I will pass wooo!! I know I could do it brotha thank you for the advise 🙏🏽
Thank you for sharing that it's ok to fail as long as we get back up and try again! Congratulations and I can't wait to see where your career and channel go from here!
Congratulations Mat, a well-deserved victory! I am a second year structural student who is a bit of a way off taking exams like these, but discovering you channel last year helped me decide that structural engineering is definitely what I want to do. I really appreciate your channel with all its great insight, and how inspiring your videos are!
Congrats bro. Great accomplishment. I'm taking the PE again in August; so i'm going through the journey as you stated. Trying to keep my confidence up and quit looking backwards at the failures. I need to pass...im tired of studying for this thing!!!
Congrats Matt! I’m taking the exam this October, and it’s been very inspiring to see your journey. Hope you enjoy your well deserved study-free weekends!
Congrats! The SE is a slog. I was "unacceptable" my first try on the Lateral too, but I knew enough people who had taken it to feel OK about it, and treat it as a practice run.
Thanks for sharing your journey, Mat. I enjoyed your explanation of the benefit of getting that "Unacceptable" multiple times. It's cliché but I know this builds character. While this exam is an "engineering thing", going through this makes us better people with qualities like toughness, resilience, and humility. It translates very well in everything we do. I know I've taken this exam a couple of times and have eaten my share of humble pie. Perhaps, if I get the motivation again, I'll give it another shot. As strange as it may seem, I do enjoy studying for this exam. 🙂

Before you get it, is it possible to work in a structural design office without that license?
Can you do the RUclips video on playing the some realistic infrastructure simulation game( infra 2016)? Several gaming RUclipsrs playing that game ( including real civil engineer RUclips channel). Congrats, you passed the se exam. Are you planning doing design work of hospitals building?
Been thinking about playing some games now that exams are done. SE mostly for long term career insurance. Easier to become a principal or shareholder or start your own company.
Hey Mat, congratulations on passing your SE license! Well deserved!!! Hopefully there aren’t anymore tests you need to take from here on out. 😅 Jk Hey I wanted to ask you a question or two really quickly. 1) At my school for civil engineering you only need to take calculus l-lll and differential equations and that’s it. Would say it could be beneficial to get a math minor for a better understanding of the more complex math used by the software? I was thinking I could take the following classes: Linear Algebra, Statistics for Engineering and Science and Introduction to Vector and Tensor Analysis. The last math course I included because you talked a lot about the importance of understanding vectors, tensors and matrix operations in structural engineering. I don’t know I just wanted your feedback on this. 2) Do you think you could do a video on being a structural engineer in the aerospace sector specifically at places like nasa or SpaceX. Maybe like an informational interview with someone in that role because that’s really what I wanna get into in structural engineering. Don’t mean to overload you with questions. 😅 I just wanted to ask these before I forgot. 😅😅😅 Thank you and seriously congrats on passing that pesky SE test! Well deserved!
Math minor might be useful if you’re getting into more theoretical work or if you get into research. It’s good to understand those concepts at school, but most likely won’t be using those derivations, etc. by hand in the industry. Aerospace structural interview might be cool, thanks for the suggestion.
congrats Mat. I have been following your channel and videos. Good job. i tried once for my SE and did not pass. but the next immediate PE I got 80%. With the fear of failure i stopped. you have helped me regain my energy to do it again. Can you suggest what course work you took and how you studied. I do not have much experience with seismic. should i take any special courses in that aspect? Can you suggest any training institutes?
AEI-California.com are great, but they do require tons of hours of work, more so than other courses because they are so thorough. So it can backfire if you realistically don’t have 300+ hours to study for both SE tests.
It’s different for each state, some states don’t even require it. Legality wise for example, a state may require an SE for you to stamp a hospital, school, or high rise project. Career wise, it makes you more eligible to be a shareholder or principal engineer.
Binabati ko kayo sir sa pagpasa nyo sa exam..Kailangan ang mga katulad ninyo d2 sa ating bayang pinas..may plano po ba kayo na dito magsilbi sa ating bayan?
Congrats my guy. Very proud of you. Seen you come up through your PE. The biggest skill you showed is perseverance. You deserve it!

No still trying to pass. I’ll be taking it. On February I have a good feeling about this one for sure 🙏🏽
Congratulations Mat, I have followed your journey for your SE and was delighted to see your hard work pay off. Well done.
Thank you for sharing that it's ok to fail as long as we get back up and try again!
Congratulations and I can't wait to see where your career and channel go from here!
Congratulations Mat! I can't even imagine how this huge success makes you feel! You look great!
Congrats, Mat. I have been following your journey and learned a lot from your experience.
Congrats Mat!! your hard work and resilience is incredible, really nice message too

Congrats Just yesterday I was looking at your channel assuming there is no video because of your exam. Glad you make it
Congratulations man! We all are so proud of you, we all know how hard this was
Congrats mate. You are an inspiration to us all. Much love
congrat mat, you well deserved this accomplishment
Congratulations... Mat Picardal well deserved!!!!
🎊 Congratulations!!!
Congratulations Mat.
Congratulations~~~~~ I didn't wanna study anymore for a while. Due to your RUclips, I feel I have to study again for the SE lateral. Thanks, Mat!
Congrats! The SE is a slog. I was "unacceptable" my first try on the Lateral too, but I knew enough people who had taken it to feel OK about it, and treat it as a practice run.

@ I think many people do that. As a matter of fact, Mat did that.
@@ezabala thanks for your reply. I didn’t know it.
@ just ask a firm if they have any openings. You never know if someone will give you an opportunity.
Thanks Edward, definitely made me a better engineer taking the test multiple times. But the 4th time I felt I was on diminishing returns lol
Congratulations Mat, this is very encouraging to young structural engineering students like me.
Congrats!!
Congrats Mat. You well deserve it!
Congrats sir!! That’s awesome!
Congratulations Mat, you deserve it
Congratulations!!! thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Congrats Engr. Mat!!!
Congrates dude!
Congrats mann

What are the benefits of this. I'm curious because it seams you already have a job practicing structural engineering.
