3:56 Is there a coolant feed to the system? Didn't see the purpose of it in your vid. I'd be using it to cut aluminum mostly. They have a model on Amazon that mention and shows (in the pics) a spindle for a 4th axis. Oddly, they show another on Amazon at the same price, but none of the pics show the bed-mounted spindle for the 4th axis. Did yours come with that?
I just got this same 6040 CNC from Ebay. it came with the extra 4 axis attachment for around $1k. They are all over ebay. They all seem to come from www.chinacnczone.com. As a complete beginner i find it a little overwhelming. but you have to start somewhere.
Just purchased one of these FANTASTIC value GBP 864 from ebay. Very useful video. I do not know why mankind always misses out steps in road sign directions and in set up videos. There are 6 large black M5 screws for the gantry which go in underneath which have no nuts because they go into tapped holes. There are 4 smaller M5 screws for the gantry which go in from the side which have no nuts. The ali table plates are screwed in by smaller black screws which need to be jiggled into place. The ali bed slats are not always flat with respect to each other at their outer edges. So you may have to get out a screwdriver and lift up a slat slightly or get a rubber mallet and a block 10mm wide and bang the slat down a bit until it is flush with its neighbour. Do not worry, if you are careful , the bed can be made flat. It is OK in the middle. It can be out by 0.5mm at the edges which is not much good with a machine which is supposed to accurate to 0.1mm or better. Look at the edges of the slat and see whether it is bent upwards or squished downwards and get out a screw driver to lever it up or the mallet and block to bang it down. Screw the caterpillar into the gantry at the side under the stepper motor. The 4 leads to be plugged into the control box are ENGRAVED SPINDLE, X, Y, Z. Look out for the engraving and you will not mix them up! 5 leads if you have a 4 axis machine. EU30/M6 tee/vee sockets are a good idea
Hallo, really interesting video , please can you explain why the red stop LED is always on, I am not able to run the spindle, in manual or with PC selected. Also the emergency stop does not work. thanks in advance. augusto from Italy
Ti ci sei trovato bene ? Dove la hai acquistata?
I have purchased two of these machines. The 1st was for work where we make aircraft parts (3-axis parallel) and then months later for at home for myself (4-axis USB). Both are great but I would recommend the parallel over the USB. Also the wiring is HORRIBLE; we had to replace ALL the wiring on the parallel one, and then installed a Gecko G540. My USB at home works fine. A dust boot for a vacuum is highly necessary. I put a piece of 0.75" MDF down on top of the aluminum bed and then fly cut it level.

So sorry. The question is regarding your another video named "cnc 6040 router accuracy vs speed testing". In that video, you used a dial indicator to test the movement distance in certain axis. I am curious how did you align the probe of the indicator with the axis of movement since misalignment will cause the difference with the indicated length and the real movement distance. Sorry for the confusion.
No worries. I used a small spirit level that I placed on the flat backside of the dial indicator. It isn't 100 percent accurate of course, but for a cheap budget machine it worked well enough.
Hello thanks for the video, I got the same machine and did everything but the machine does not start, do you know if there is something I have to change in the settings I mean in the software (mach3)? I'll appreciate any help.

Slowing down speed and velocity Calibrate the axis throw mach3. Different computer with different Windows (w7 32bits and w10 x64). Dont know what more to try... Losing steps is a common error of the stock CNC 6040 controller. Mine does it as well. How do you know that you lose steps? How big is the problem? Did you measure it?

Hi Mate, sorry to bother you again, but did your cnc work ok from setup? I have mine and am having problems with the stepper motors. They work fine using the arrow keys on my keyboard. but when I add a Gcode (roadrunner) and run, the stepper motors hardly move and make a horible noise, and the Gcode looks to be running really fast. I did get another computer with onboard parellel port running windows 7 pro. No matter what I do I can't get it to work using Gcode. Any ides would be really appreciated. Thanks, Terry.
It sounds your stepper driver is sending more pulses to your motors than they can handle. So instead of stepping with the familiar stepping sound, they stall and make a screaming sound. Lower your feed rate and rapids in your gcode to 1000 mm/s and change the following in mach3: config > motor tuning> set velocity to 1200 > set acceleration to 75 mm/sec/sec > save axis setting. Do this for your X Y Z axis. This should solve the issue.
Hi Mate, did as you said and unfortunatly it's still the same. It's more of a low struggling to move sound from the stepper motors. It is moving but only very slightly it's hard to see but the gcode still keeps going. Moving it around with the keyboard arrows works fine, and if I switch the cnc controller off, all looks to work fine in mach 3. I must say thanks for your time and help. really appreciate it. I did try to get onto where I bought it, but as you know there Chinese which is really hard work. The best thing is there now on holiday for a month for the Chinese New Year lol. thanks, Terry.
@@Wrighty Try uploading a different Gcode. Something bigger! The Roadrunner is super small and so it looks like your machine is doing nothing accept making weird noises..
Hi Mate, thanks for the reply. Got it all sorted. It was the Gcode. Made my own and everything is working fine. Thanks again mate, much appreciated. Terry.
Thanks, I do have a problem losing steps with this machine though. Did you have to adjust anything after you purchased it? I am trying very hard to not buy more upgrades. I just wish it would work right out of the box

Hi! I have a few questions & I don’t know who to ask. So i’m here on youtube asking for help. I want to get a machine to cut out wood names for events but i have no idea what machine to buy & does the software come with machine? Or do i have to get that separately?
What is the cooling liquid you are using. The instructions that came with mine said to use the cleanest possible water but your is blue. Have you used an additive or is it something other than water?
Hi, i have a question about the machine I bought the same one you have the, the Usb port you have is this fits to the machine ore you have to have some special box to fit it. Thanks for any information :)
My first cnc machine was same size.. i bought 3 more machine table size of 1300mm x 2500mm.. 2 machine single head spindle and 1 machine 4head individual spindle..
Please sir I need you to help for the machine I budgeted to buy. Is cnc machine, please which one can I look for, I want use it for cutting composite board, acrylic plastic, wood, and iron sheet, engraving on wood, composite board, and acrylic plastic. Please which brand and model is best?
Hi, I just purchased exactly the same cnc as you have. Did you had any problems with the VFD controler? In all the forums it is written that you have to change the settings and if not the spindle could burn out. Did you changed any setting on VFD?
No, I haven’t had any problems and didn't change any settings. The only things with the FVD is that it isn't connected to the parallel port, so it can only be used manual.
Im looking to buy a 6040 cnc on ebay but ive noticed 2 diff versions....one like urs and one that has black controller and non painted alum frame....the non painted frame versions seem to have a larger work area.....any input?
Yeah that was also something that caught my eye. Keep in mind that those picture angles are not helping to give you a good perspective of the size. Most eBay sellers have the outside dimensions somewhere on their page. The most important thing for me was a solid aluminium frame instead of a hollow variant. Most eBay sellers are often willing to help with your questions when you contact them directly. Good luck!
What ebay seller did u buy from?.. Here is link to other version i have seen on ebay www.ebay.com/itm/4-AXIS-6040-DESKTOP-CNC-ROUTER-ENGRAVER-MILLING-MACHINE-ENGRAVING-DRILLING/142661335936?epid=894480905&hash=item2137473b80:g:hWYAAOSwTIhaYcFO
You got the parallel port version? But it looks like u used a usb cable? Adapter?.....even if its an adapter the speed would be still parallel port speed which is slower than usb correct?
Hi and thanks for this video, I'm interested , I see that now prices are higher than when you bought it, I need 4th axis and it's difficult to find one less than 1800€
Hi MB, loved your videos that much i bought the same machine 4 weeks ago! However, i am having some teething issues with programming from Fusion360 & mach3, would you care to share your system settings ? I have watched over & over all your videos. Thanks in advance. Mark.
Why is that no one ever explains plain and simple how to setup 6040 or a CNC machine?.I always see the center setup but not x and why and how when they say outside edge do they refer on top or the point?.Please this puzzles me the most. Please show me with a simple project with aluminium making big hole about 20mm in the middle and two 10mm holes on the either side and 4 holes on M5 on four corners please.
hello friend I'm in Colombia recently I bought one of these, you have it connected to a laptop? Does it work normal? I understood that it had to be a desktop computer. do you use a parallel to usb adapter?
2 questions, do you have a link to the specific model so I can see if I can find something similar on ebay US? Secondly, can't you just put bigger cutter in and mill your table flat?
I can’t help you with a link. If you want the version I have, I would go by what you see on the picture in the beginning of my video. The problem with leveling the bed of the machine is that it’s made from several pieces of extruded aluminium profile. When you fasten the T-slot bolts to secure your work piece you can see that profiles bend. I have seen some people level a large sheet of wood end use that as a the machine bed.
Hi Dean, I had the same problem when I first go my machine running. If you go to the motor tuning menu, you can see a box called Steps per. There is a good chance that you have different values in the box for your X and Y axis. If you machine has the same leadscrew for the X and Y axis this value should be the same. In my case this is 320. For my Z axis it’s 400
ok so I have no instructions , but the machine is assembled and mach installed.. How do I turn on the spindle , I have the exact same control box as yours
For engraving: PerfectFor cutting wood: OKFor cutting Aluminium: insufficient The new design (that I have) has a solid 15mm aluminium frame. It is way heavier and rigidit than you would expect. The design flaw (read cost saving decision) is in the gantry. The side legs are 15 mm solid aluminium just like the base. But instead of using the same 15mm aluminium plate as support between the legs, they used the linear rail. So the legs are only joined by the unsupported rail. This results in a less rigid gantry and flexing when put under load. In the future I would like to upgrade the machine with this missing chunk of aluminium and ofcourse the support rail.
Hi, I have followed your uploads with a lot of interest could you please tell me if the CNCEST is 3 or 4 Axis? Also I could not identify your model on "CNC Machinediy" can you identify it for me please. Thank you, Kind regards Barry

It sounds your stepper driver is sending more pulses to your motors than they can handle. So instead of stepping with the familiar stepping sound, they stall and make a screaming sound. Lower your feed rate and rapids in your gcode to 1000 mm/s and change the following in mach3:
config > motor tuning> set velocity to 1200 > set acceleration to 75 mm/sec/sec > save axis setting.
Do this for your X Y Z axis. This should solve the issue.
That makes perfict sense. thank you. I will change the settings and keep you posted. Thanks for the help. very much appreciated. Terry.
Thanks to MBCreates, he told me about the steps in motor tuning. Running the tests for a 5mm x y and z movement is where I found the missing steps.
@@jodianddean Thanks for your response. Can you share your motor tuning settings? That would be such a big help. I have tried calibrating it before and found missing steps but when I run a project the spindle slips in all axis directions.
@@ItreallyHappedISwear I wish I could. My computer crashed and I'm waiting for an old Windows XP computer. After it comes next week, I'll send you the numbers.
@@jodianddean thanks man!
I have a video of where I go to calibrate my steps. I have pictures of my motor tuning X Y & Z. I'll post those as soon as I make the video
Hi! I have a few questions & I don’t know who to ask. So i’m here on youtube asking for help. I want to get a machine to cut out wood names for events but i have no idea what machine to buy & does the software come with machine? Or do i have to get that separately?
Hello, how much cost this machine in total, did you pay costums and from where you buy it.
Any input on the xcarve 1000mm ? My first impression is flimsy and cheap looking
It beautiful machine and compact! What is working distance of x axis, y axis, z axis?
On most Chinese brands, they use the number in the name as the dimensions. In this case, 6040 means 600mm x 400mm.
@@GRIMRPR6942 Thank u. How about on z-axis distance?
@@prapanchulapinyo757 It varies alot by model, but I have seen as short as 150mm & as tall as 320mm (without any customization).
What is the cooling liquid you are using. The instructions that came with mine said to use the cleanest possible water but your is blue. Have you used an additive or is it something other than water?
Demineralised water with some glycol/antifreeze.
Do you think I can install laser marking head on this? can i use same software or have to find another software for laser engraving ??
Nice video thanks. I lnow this machine can be used on aluminium but what is the limitation for machining mild steel or stainless?
That won’t cut but wood and plastic. You need a $3,000 plus router for aluminum. Our shop can build you one.
@@glennedward2201 Oh so wrong.
Hello, thank you for your awesome videos. Where did you buy the cnc 6040? Many thanks in advance and best regards!
HELLO! PRETTY GOOD VIDEO!
QUESTION...what is the liquid you use in the pump? And what software for the cnc if you please can tell me?
Thanks. Demi water and antifreeze 8:2
@@MBcreates thanks a lot!!!!
Thinking of buying the 6090
Hi, i have a question about the machine I bought the same one you have the, the Usb port you have is this fits to the machine ore you have to have some special box to fit it. Thanks for any information :)
if your machine has no usb port you have to buy this adapter :cncdrive.com/UC100.html
Thank you, it works no problems for you?
Yeah it works perfect. You only have to download the driver to your pc/laptop and plug the connector in. nothing to difficult
Congrats man! Thumbs up!
My first cnc machine was same size.. i bought 3 more machine table size of 1300mm x 2500mm.. 2 machine single head spindle and 1 machine 4head individual spindle..
Very nice, Ive been looking at these
Thanks, What do you plan to make with it?
Please sir I need you to help for the machine I budgeted to buy.
Is cnc machine, please which one can I look for, I want use it for cutting composite board, acrylic plastic, wood, and iron sheet, engraving on wood, composite board, and acrylic plastic.
Please which brand and model is best?
Hi,
I just purchased exactly the same cnc as you have.
Great stuff you got going!
This is called professional
Nice your machine Pl.sanding your machine indian coust and your terms and conditions
You got the parallel port version? But it looks like u used a usb cable? Adapter?.....even if its an adapter the speed would be still parallel port speed which is slower than usb correct?
Nice one. I guess you'll be converting it to closed loop servo soon? I just watched your old video on that.
Hi and thanks for this video, I'm interested , I see that now prices are higher than when you bought it, I need 4th axis and it's difficult to find one less than 1800€
1800 is good price for cnc that actually works
can you do auto tool zero with this cnc?
Hi,
Thanks for the great demo!!
Would it be possible to use it for making PCBs?
Thank you :)
Would be great for PCB's
Hi MB, loved your videos that much i bought the same machine 4 weeks ago! However, i am having some teething issues with programming from Fusion360 & mach3, would you care to share your system settings ? I have watched over & over all your videos. Thanks in advance.
Mark.
That's cool. Send me an email with your question. You can find it on the about page of my channel.
MBcreates ok thank you so much, i will send an email over to you tonight. ( Australia )
Mark
MBcreates i cannot find your email on the about page? Can you send it here in the reply. Thanks 🙏🏽
Are there spareparts available at the market?
Yes, If you search on Ebay you can see that the whole machine can also be bought in parts.
hello friend I'm in Colombia recently I bought one of these, you have it connected to a laptop? Does it work normal? I understood that it had to be a desktop computer. do you use a parallel to usb adapter?
Yes I use the uc100 usb to parallel port adapter on a 64 bit laptop. It works fine. Good luck!
Nice machine..I goszme machine, but it plays give up axis limit. Not consistent movement. Do you use soft limit or Mech switch for all axis?
2 questions, do you have a link to the specific model so I can see if I can find something similar on ebay US? Secondly, can't you just put bigger cutter in and mill your table flat?
I can’t help you with a link. If you want the version I have, I would go by what you see on the picture in the beginning of my video. The problem with leveling the bed of the machine is that it’s made from several pieces of extruded aluminium profile. When you fasten the T-slot bolts to secure your work piece you can see that profiles bend. I have seen some people level a large sheet of wood end use that as a the machine bed.
@@MBcreates Any reason why you can't share a link? At least the technical details so we can find the similar one. Thank you.
Would you be willing to show your step settings in mach3? I have this machine as well but the Y-axis steps are off on mine.
MBcreates ok I'll check that. Thank you!
ok so I have no instructions , but the machine is assembled and mach installed.. How do I turn on the spindle , I have the exact same control box as yours
Press the run button and turn black rotary knob clockwise. It should work even without the PC connected.
I hava the same 3040 cncest but i want to buy 6040 or 6090 can you give me link for the same machine like yours??
Please and thank you
This router works with aluminum?
Yes, I made a video about my first experience on cutting aluminium! ruclips.net/video/6a57KtmIu-4/видео.html
Is your machine 3 or 4 axis? Thanks in advance.
3 axis
the tool holder is very nice ..
Standles steel??
What did you find was the best router bits?
Can you make small leather embossing stamping tool?
please give me the link to the machine
where did you buy it, I just bought one and only received half, these criminals eBay commerce..
Sir wat type of controller you have used
Looks s lot stronger than the 3018 I just purchased, maybe I bought the wrong one for a starter CNC !!
Hi, what do you use for culling spindle?
Distilled water with a bit of automotive coolant is ok.
Where can I get this and how much price of this machine in India.
I want to purchase this
Around 1000$
How ridged are these machines? The original 6040 were quite flimsy?
For engraving: PerfectFor cutting wood: OKFor cutting Aluminium: insufficient
The new design (that I have) has a solid 15mm aluminium frame. In the future I would like to upgrade the machine with this missing chunk of aluminium and ofcourse the support rail.
can it cut aluminum
Can I use this to mill G10 for knife handles ?
Yes, that would be possible.
Put a MDF bed on it and surface plain that so it will be true to the z axis of the machine.
Hi, I have followed your uploads with a lot of interest could you please tell me if the CNCEST is 3 or 4 Axis? Also I could not identify your model on "CNC Machinediy" can you identify it for me please. Thank you, Kind regards Barry
Just google cnc6040 and compare image.
You can order 3 and 4 axis machine.
