  • A few tips on repairing a Stihl FS45 string trimmer that has the easy start mechanism. I used the cheap Chinese aftermarket parts, and here's what I learned.

I had same problem - broke the cord. I decided to replace the cord and, of course, popped the recoil spring. Went to Stihl dealer and got a new one for $18 AUD. Came packaged in an excellent plastic holder. Dropped straight in with no fuss. Easy repair after that. Sometimes it's worth buying genuine.

I have a different brand, but still applicable. Thanks for taking a bullet for the team.

Glad I came across your vid. My FS 45C Sthil easy start pull cord broke today. Not sure I have the patience, knowledge, or nerves to attempt your fix. But I shall try. Thank you.

Just shoot me. I have a KM55 rcz. Great trimmer with broken pull cord. Not sure I have your level of patience. This repair is going to take no less than a 12-pack. Great vid! Thanks!
