Dude a bit late to the party here but, My mate has just started selling this Ted's crap and yesterday told me about it . Ted is still at it. I remember the first time I saw an ad for it. One look at the site and my mind was screaming SCAM!!! It is sad how the same format used by scammers for years still gets people.
Thanks for this. The other action you can take against such scammers is to contact the copyright holder and suggest they ask RUclips for a 'takedown'. I routinely do this for recording artists whose work I respect and don't have the resource to police their copyright. RUclips does not allow you to ask for a takedown unless you are the copyright holder, unfortunately, so you have to contact the copyright holder for this to be successful. However, if every unwitting buyer of Ted (or whatever scammer) contacted just one copyright holder, Ted internet posts would quickly cease to be viable. This is because every takedown request would require an edit of the post to remove reference to the copyright material, plus removal of said material from Ted's pack. The only time such an action is allowable is if the seller has sought and gained permission from the copyright holder to include the copyrighted material (I refer to UK copyright law only, but it is likely the same in all Anglo-Saxon derived and EU jurisdictions).
You guys are over the top. Interesting topics, but I'm just an ordinary wood worker. Gluing, sanding, putty, spraying, ect., just making old into new or creating something from scratch for over 40 years.
I know this is an old video but it just pooped up on my feed. Absolutely beautiful 👍 The crazy hardware guys stuffing their pockets with muffins, in Ohio, had me rolling!

Good Job guys on getting the word out on Ted's Woodworking. When I was starting out in woodworking I was considering buying plans from Ted's until, I saw Steve Ramsey say something about it in one of his videos. Thank you again guys, Ted's Woodworking needs to be stopped.
I, sadly, am one of those "schmucks" who got taken by Ted's Woodworking. Once I realized that these were all stolen plans, I deleted them and farcically tried to get my money back. A $95 lesson learned. Now I comment every time I see the ads on FB to let people know what a scam it really is.
Right on about Ted’s wood working scam. I got suckered into that a couple of years ago. One of the 1st things I stumbled on was a plan for a small corner desk I had built from a wood working article in a magazine in the late 70’s. I never did get the refund I was promised.
Great timing for this video to pop up in my feed. I was roaming around youtube looking for woodworking videos to watch and came across one where in the comments they mentioned woodprix plans. I saw multiple comments in the same video from different people. When I clicked on all the accounts they were all configured the same - completely private with no info, a generic photo, and above 15 subscribers (weird for a channel with no videos). Probably bots set up to thumbs up comments other bots post. I looked at all the content creators most popular videos and they all had the same woodprix comments but they aren't on the low views videos. I hope there is no collusion going on between content creators and the dodgy dudes but they could be spamming popular woodworking videos too without the content creators knowledge.
I tried paying for and downloading this rip-off. Took my money just fine, then made it impossible to see the promised plans. Thanks for opening my eyes to the issue of stealing others ideas and hard work.
I was duped by Ted and his collection. I figured for the price is was worth seeing what he had to offer - it was all crap! I was so disappointed I requested a refund, which after a week of protesting they finally honored. Wish I had seen this episode earlier! Thanks Stumpy
Jason Zvokel Better: Just post the whole crapload on the Net, and hand out links like doggie treats. An article covering the details would be the icing on the cake. Any plans that are not officially free (e.g. Matthias Wandel's), replace with links to where they can be had legitimately.
A whole fancy blog scares me. I didn't realize he was taking plans from others; otherwise, I never would have purchased it. The content was very disorganized and I thought poorly put together
Thanks for the info on Ted's... I didn't do any research and now have 16000 zip files that are not organized by any recognizable logic, diagrams are no better than copying from a magazine page. Big surprise, Ted's help line isn't any help... Amex is my next call for refund!

The reason Bridge City Tools were at a trade show in China was to shop for a manufacturer. They ended up selecting Nanjing Harvey Machinery (makers of the excellent Harvey table saws) who incidentally features them in their catalog. Not exactly a secret. BCT mentions it on their website as "manufacturing facility located Nanjing, China"
Great information. I watch your show often and I learn a lot. Can you recommend me some legit places to get plans, even if I have to pay for them? Thanks Stumpy.
Definitely enjoying the shorter episodes! Is it more labor intensive for you guys to make, or do you just shoot it all at the same time and chop it up? Mustache Mike's comment about the chopstick jig being easier to use than the chopsticks themselves had me rolling. Great stuff guys!

Thank you for the heads up on the Teds scam I was going to buy it, i'm new to woodworking and thought it sounded like a great deal but i was going to research it first for sure.
Have to admit, I fell for this one a couple years ago. I think it was a download, not a DVD. It contained a number of zip files, loosely categorized; outdoor furniture, cabinets., etc. Each zip contained a number of PDF files with ambiguous names such that you had to open each one to see what it was. Some were so poorly scanned, the measurements were unreadable. After about 20 minutes of looking for something interesting, I deleted the download. It's not even worth the effort if it's free.
"Ted's Woodworking" is running his ad on Facebook now (Feb 2021). He actually hooked me but at the last minute, I elected to use PayPal and PayPal wouldn't let the transaction go through. (Thanks, PayPal!!) Do you have anyway to report this to RUclips so that the ads can be shut down?? I tried to report some suspected malware on a RUclips site and could find no avenue for doing this. Thanks for the info in this post.
"Those 16000 projects were stolen from other people" This is EXACTLY what I suspected when I started seeing posts recommending these collections on Instagram. No matter how creative someone is, how can anyone come up with SIXTEEN THOUSANDS different plans???? It is simply not possible, either they are a few plans repeated with minor changes, or they are stolen content. Best thing I can do now is flag the posts that promote this scam and unfollow their respective accounts!!
Ironically, after watching this the RUclips algorithm is now carpet-bombing me with ads for Teds Woodworking. I'm reporting them but there seems to be an endless supply.
I like the shorter video. Keep up the nice news section and thanks for the info about Ted's site. Personally found that site to be more marketing than good woodworking. Have a good Weekend guys.
Thank you so much for having gone to the trouble, years ago, of posting the warning about Ted's, et al....I was just about to check out Woodglut. Loved your interesting bits and pieces, and humor!
The link in the description of one of their channels takes you to a site that wants your email address. Yeah, I don’t think so! Imagine the number of phishing emails you’re liable to get? Nowadays, it pays to be suspicious while on the internet.
I don't know what link you are finding, but there are no web links in my video description. There is only a single time stamp to jump forward in the video.
@@StumpyNubs No, sorry. I didn’t express myself correctly. I meant in their channels that are simply an advert for them. Not your channel. They try to make them seem like different channels but they’re all really the same spammy adverts. I’ll change the word “these” to “their” in that comment to make it clearer rather than delete it.
Shorter episodes are the way to go. Often times many people are hesitant to click on a 20-30 minute video, even if they're going to watch 4 consecutive 12 minutes videos. It's just a funny way the mind works. They feel it's less of a commitment; regardless if they're ultimately going to commit even more time than the video's actual length.
I fell for this scam when it first showed up and was appalled at all of the stolen plans ( and the orginization on the disks is also crap)! I have tried to expose them every time that i have seen them advertised.

No sooner had I watched this than Ted's "plans" came up as an ad on RUclips, before it could end with "credit card details and phone number" the ad cut out. Let's hope that wasn't an accident.
I wish they would leave my video's alone. Seems their comments hitting my videos hurts me in the algorithms and reduces how much attention they get. Not sure why. I'm trying word blocking them in my settings. Not sure whether it'll help.
Good video guys! If you can fill a given amount of time (10 - 40 minutes) without be repetitive I say Rock On... Transmit your information and say good night. As my ol Grand Daddy would say "Taint no reason to beat a dead horse"...

File DMCA against the site, report the DMCA to his Michigan-based web host, chase Click Bank for processing the scammed CC charges, and continue to chase him until you can get the domain seized. When it pops up elsewhere, keep doing it.

July 2020, Ted's still going. I think he's gotten a little more gray... I'm curious though, site is hosted in AZ. copyright owner is in Texas. I assumed everything was off shore. But it's here, in the USA. How come he can't be stopped?
you might contact the registrar or host, if he's pulling from magazines, their legal departments would very much like to know. the things they would do to him are... unspeakable
I recognized the Ted thing years ago from my former life as someone who tried to make a living with MLM before I knew any better.. It screams multi level marketing scam... Get the justice department involved.. They like putting scammers in jail from time to time..

It's just a funny way the mind works. They feel it's less of a commitment; regardless if they're ultimately going to commit even more time than the video's actual length.
This video is 6 years old.
@@StumpyNubs Damn recommendation algorithm strikes again. lol Well, I still stand by what I said.
Sadly, the Ted’s scam is still going strong 5 years later. I almost got stung.
Kudos for sticking it to Ted's. Kudos. Kudos. Kudos.
Yeah, shorter is better. Even my wife laughed while over hearing your video from across the room. Keep it up, can't wait to see the project videos.
juan chaidez Your wife has an excellent sense of humor
I fell for this scam when it first showed up and was appalled at all of the stolen plans ( and the orginization on the disks is also crap)! I have tried to expose them every time that i have seen them advertised.
Great Job! Good information. You're an excellent service to the woodworking community. Thank you!
I like the new format. Thanks Stumpy and Stash.

Belikeiam Ivers Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Ted Bundy? Ted Danson? Ted Kasczynski? Ted Nugent? And now Ted's Woodworking?
Just not enough wholesome Ted's anymore.
Signed, Ted Snider
theolithic71 - Don't know if I'd place Ted Danson and Nugent in the same list as Bundy and the Uni-bomber, but I think that Ted Snider guy looks a little shifty... :)
So happy to see this come up! Love these videos!
The Feds should be alerted to this. They would go after them in court.
Lol the ad RUclips put at the bottom ad space is for Ted Woodworking.
Good video guys! If you can fill a given amount of time (10 - 40 minutes) without be repetitive I say Rock On... Transmit your information and say good night. As my ol Grand Daddy would say "Taint no reason to beat a dead horse"...
You don't fight scammers by being spammers just the same you as you don't change government by whining to your neighbor. Take ACTION and go for the throat.
File DMCA against the site, report the DMCA to his Michigan-based web host, chase Click Bank for processing the scammed CC charges, and continue to chase him until you can get the domain seized. When it pops up elsewhere, keep doing it.
Good info on the Ted thing, you explained it very well, thanks!
Thank you. Saved me $67
Thanks for reporting on the "Ted's" scam. That stuff has to be stopped.
I love the sense of humor...and the projects, of course!
Ruel Smith- Thanks, Ruel!
I'd rather watch three short episodes during the week than sitting for more than 30 minutes in only one loooooong video.
***** Thanks! Glad you liked it!
I wish I had seen this video before I purchased Ted's Woodworking plans a few years ago.
Shout out to Toledo!
Drunken Woodworker - Mmmm-mmm-mmmmmm- Good stuff!
Whatever you do do not order this I ordered it for my husband for his birthday what a hoax I got a DVD one DVD and all it did was give me instructions on how to buy other DVDs it had no woodworking plans in it it was a big hoax do not waste your money unfortunately I spent all the money I had to get my husband‘s birthday present on this so I could not buy him anything and I sure as hell wasn’t giving him that what a joke!!!
In the old days, mike knows those, nitro lacqure ruled and steel wool did cut sanding sealers perfectly, now days, with polys and waterbornes, I dont allow steel wool in the shop. Times change and so does finishing technology.
Man's got a Tucker Carlson vibe to him.
Good work! Like the new length also.
I would love to see the research you did on Ted's. I'm sure you are right about the ghost marketing name, but love to see what you found about the pirating and theft.
July 2020, Ted's still going. I think he's gotten a little more gray... I'm curious though, site is hosted in AZ. copyright owner is in Texas. I assumed everything was off shore. But it's here, in the USA. How come he can't be stopped?
It's not a real US company.
you might contact the registrar or host, if he's pulling from magazines, their legal departments would very much like to know. the things they would do to him are... unspeakable
I recognized the Ted thing years ago from my former life as someone who tried to make a living with MLM before I knew any better.. It screams multi level marketing scam... Get the justice department involved.. They like putting scammers in jail from time to time..
BRAVO !!!! on Ted's Woodworking !!!!! Internet Trash !!!
***** - Congrats on your 1 year anniversary!
***** It's not just woodworking plans. I've had my software and eBooks pirated, as many others in my industry have. I've shut a lot of these sites down, but it's so time consuming. I'd rather spend my time creating useful, and mostly unique ideas to help honest people.
Stumpy Nubs Here's a few tips for constructing boats:
Allow plenty time.
take advantage of ready made boat outlines.
(I learned about these and more from Denelle boat builder site )
Holy knot hole, I laughed so hard while watching this one! Keep this going it was extremely entertaining as well as informative.
Sounds good I just got done posting a Ted SCAM video. Thanks Stumpy.
The video seemed to have weird ratios (squished with black bars on the side) for me (on mobile app)...
I enjoyed the long shows need to get used to the shorter ones, like that I get to see more of you though.
Hope that you can get those scammers.
Nearoth RUclips has done that to the last two episodes. I'm trying to figure out why...
2021 and this scam is still floating around, saw it on Facebook a few months ago.
It now exists under many names. The one I see most now is Woodglut. It's the exact same thing.
