      The problem is that CO2 is actually one of the least effective greenhouse gases. A tonne of methane has the same effect as about 30 tonnes of CO2. This is what's exercising Greens about uncontrolled animal husbandry, and the release of part-burned LPG into the atmosphere. But even worse are the GIGATONNES of methane locked in tundra, under ice and under water, which are released by temperature rise / melting. You ain't seen nothing yet, baby!

    Speaking of buckling rails, they used to be restricted to shorter lengths connected by expansion joints called fishplates to allow for metal expansion during hot weather TO PREVENT BUCKLING!
    Now, to save money, rails are welded into longer, even continuous lengths in which there is NO PROVISION FOR EXPANSION. What is the COST of reducing train speeds and lengthening transit times and was that factored in when calculating the savings from welded, as opposed to jointed railway lines? Almost certainly NOT because each separate entity only considers its OWN COSTS and not the holistic effects of their financial decisions.

    • @BubblesTheCat1
      @BubblesTheCat1 2 года назад +1

      They weld them together to stop the clack clack noises from the train wheels over the joints and then they buckle.
      Here in South Africa trains make a terrible racket because of the joint gaps being large. But it can get hot here, and railway lines never buckle.

    • @judewarner1536
      @judewarner1536 2 года назад +4

      @@BubblesTheCat1 I am fairly certain that the rails were welded into longer lengths so the tracks could be laid more quickly and that this has happened relatively recently in British Rail history. There may also have been a factor of using automatic track setting machines that could not cope with fishplates, but I'm less certain of this aspect. I'm sure people warned them that hot weather would be a problem and that rail buckling has already occurred since the practice was adopted.
      What I am also certain of is that the loss of the clicketty-clack as the carriage bogies crossed the gaps was a by-product of the change and NOT the purpose of the change. The noise was not that loud on British Railways; most people found it comforting and missed it when it disappeared.
      Your description of the noise on SA railways does seem as if it's due to larger gaps between rail lengths to allow for the much higher temperatures, possibly also simply to poor maintenance, where there is more play in everything than should be the case. What would you say about the possible maintenance aspect?
      I'm not sure if it's still the case but rails used to be made of a high Manganese steel with a lower coefficient of thermal expansion and greater resistance to wear than ordinary steel. The alloy was known as ''Hatfield's Manganese''. I'm not a rail enthusiast, but I AM a qualified Metallurgist.

      Wear loose light colored cotton clothes outside (seersucker is the best) and inside take a cold shower, DONT dry off or wear clothes, and lay in front of a fan (you’ll shiver) if you have long hair don’t dry it and put it in a pony tail and your wet hair will keep you cool for at least an hour. After you’ve taken several cold showers and don’t wanna run up your water bill fill up a big bowl with ice and a little water put it in front of a fan, sit directly in front of it and you have instant AC. If this heat wave had high humidity then it’d be a legitimate problem and a lot of people would die but this is dry desert heat where you can easily cool off with water.

If most of the forests on our planet are just around three hundred years old, does humanity know, what hapened to the forests that existed before the current ones? Experts who are paid to talk about the weather issues should look into the past more than 300 -500 years. There is wisdom to observation, that those children who can see the patterns, do very well in all of their studies. It's a mystery, why modern climatologists don't look for weather patterns over hundreds of years. They assume they know it all by just looking at less than 200 years of weather records.

    Plant more trees, reduce concrete development, and tax companies that are contributing to the environmental problem. Just to mention a few.

      @@TommyGus I am not implying that climate change is solely due to industry but it does play a big role as well. We have to be realistic about the fact that there are repercussions to raping and pillaging nature.

    Kids in cars, dont leave your kids in cars.
    1. theyre kids, theyre dumb....
    2. they may not know how to cool down/ get out/ ask for help
    3. it only takes a couple minutes for the inside of cars to get as hot as ovens
    4. Do not blow/ fan air that is hotter than your own body temp, onto yourself. People think its the quick fix to cooling down, but dont realize it could be doing more harm.

    I'm so over all of these politicians everywhere around the world pushing this issue down the curb again and again and again. It needs to take PRIORITY. Not second priority after the economy, not third priority after the pandemic, FIRST PRIORITY. All - the - time.

    @LudiCrust. 2 года назад +3

    Today’s humidity in southern England was only 20%. If it were 60% or 70+ then yea it would be an emergency and people would die but at 20% it’s a dry heat and is like what you find in southern Spain or Las Vegas. You can easily cool off with water in dry heat. Take a cold shower don’t dry off and go lay down in front of a fan and you will be chilly and comfortable for at least an hour. Once you dry off either do it again or put a big bowl of ice in front of a fan sit directly in front of it and you have instant AC. The media is making a mountain out of a mole hill on this.
