Storm Eowyn: Red weather alert issued amid danger to life

- Four million people were sent emergency phone alerts warning of the risk posed by Storm Éowyn, which forecasters said could be the strongest to hit the UK in generations.

People in the most at-risk areas, covering central Scotland, the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland, received a message, accompanied by a “loud siren-like sound” lasting ten seconds.
Storm Éowyn has already broken Ireland’s record for the highest wind speed, according to the Irish meteorological service.
A maximum gust of 114mph was observed at Mace Head, on the west coast, at 5am on Friday, topping the previous record gust of 113mph.
Met Eireann later said that the high winds had “interrupted data supply” from the station in Mace Head.
The mean wind speed record of 81mph, set in 1945 at Foynes, Co Limerick, was also broken during the storm, the service added.

We're being hit massive here in Cornwall atm with hailstones, rain and strong winds. We've had tornados, floods, trees, electricity gone down and houses destroyed there is literally no chance if put on it, there is debris flying around the roads that cars are having to try and avoid which is dangerous too.

When the storm was coming, I saw on flightradar24 a ryanair plane trying to land in severe winds to cork, very interesting, got to listen to ATC, and there was lots of crosswinds and they were going slow, they were going like 98km, but they did a go around and on the second attempt, they landed and I heard the wind bashing.

Normal Winter weather. They probably set up a new weather station on top of a cliff so that they could have their new windspeed record. Bit like when we caught them measuring temperatures behind jet aircraft.
