Love your videos. I use lucerne hay and leave it in slabs where possible here in Queensland but pea straw was the best when I live in SA.
In India we use the onion seeds as a condiment for cooking.
What about a 20 cm wall of shade cloth extension to the box to help reduce the wind severity and catch any straw from being completely blown away.
