The Washington Post is so good at sanitizing what these agencies really do. My favorite bit is “sometimes the NSA sweeps up American communications in the process.” That’s a nice way to say “they spy on all phone calls and email exchanges.”

Here’s a quick example: If you go through your phone app, you can see a history of the recent calls you made, and it is not spying. Spying would be hearing or recollecting meta data from the calls YOU specifically made. It’s a bit hard to understand given the fact that this agencies are well organized and classified.
