Personal preference I Geuss. I've had both at the same time and ended up selling the charge 3.the pill plus just sounds clearer to me and has a much better battery life by far! Also depends on what EQ app is applied. I use the best I've ever found... BOOST and definitely worth the $7.00 yearly fee for that app!
hardcore_master actually you are deaf .... I am a master with engineering audio, the beats actually is more clearer while the jbl has a boost in the frequencies of 300-600, plus it is waterproof which definitely causes the muffled sound.
Hey bro! I respectfully disagree with your conclusion. The Charge 3 sounded muffled. Muffled at all volumes. It seems like the water resistance may be the cause of this dulling of the JBL. I agree that the Beats Pill + has extended highs, but I was not hearing an overbearing highs sound that you were hearing. I am a huge JBL fan, and I am disappointed in JBL's performance. I reluctantly conclude that the Beats offering has a overall better sound.

Looking at the comments here is super hard. Apparently, people like speakers with zero midrange frequencies and terrible vocal reproduction! The charge 3 is way better in real life. Beats is better than they used to be since they are owned by Apple now, but they still are falling behind. Fun fact, the Beats by Dre brand was only successful by using a famous persons name so people trusted them, and there was even talk about the brand being associated with the famous speaker scams that had been around since the 70s or 80s.

The Altec is the perfect happy medium of JBL VS PILL+. It has more power than the pill with comparable bass to the charge 3 with all the same features both have. Was actually impressed, especially when I Googled it! Walmart sells it online only for $146 free shipping. So my investment of $5.50 (like new condition) paid off whether I sell it or use it as a back up unit. Sticking with the P+ as primary though, clarity, clarity, clarity!

I have both, pill does sound more clear , and is more compact. The JBL has more bass , and shorter battery life
