  • Here's a head-to-head comparison of the Vox VT20X and the Fender Mustang LT25 guitar amplifiers. I mic'd up both amps from about 1 foot away with Behringer C2 condenser mics. In this video I compare Fender Deluxe sounds, 70s Marshall sounds and EVH high gain amp models. I'm playing a 1989 American Fender Telecaster in the video. All was recorded through a Zoom L-12 LiveTrack Digital Mixer/recorder. Let me know what you think of the sounds.

    Ha! I loved this comparison partly for the interruptions of family life which really made me smile!
    Both great amps but the Vox just has almost too much going on for me but, having watched your other video showing the full functions, I’ve decided to get one and see how I get on.

    Hi Tony! Fantastic comparison! Thanks for great demonstration! Sorry I have a important question... Do you know if the GT40 is not more available? Did Fender stop the production? Because I can't find it in any shop, even in the fender website... I want that model because I practice in a little bedroom with beighbors near... Do you recommend me LT25? Thanks again. Regards from Lima!

    Great video i must say. I have a question. I have Fender Player Series (MEX, S, S, S coils) and i want to play Classic rock, Blues and i really need good drive tones with my strat. Right now i am using Orange Crush 12 but drive tones are not enough for me. So i was going to buy Fender but a friend of mine strongly suggested that i should get Vox with footswitch. So what do you think? Which one is much more suitable for Fender player series and Classic rock, Blues?

    Hey Tony. Love what you do. Been following you for a long time. Here is my Fender practice amp dilemma. I really just want a practice amp with a great Princeton reverb tone. A classic Fender tone with reverb and tremolo is where I live. I'm one of the legions of guitar players that only play in the bedroom, usually with headphones with an occasional foray into actually playing through the speaker, but even then, not very loudly. I'm drawn to the LT25 but many reviewers have said that you really need a bigger speaker to get satisfying, full tones. That leads me to the LT50 with a 12" speaker. What are your thoughts on the LT25. Is the LT50 going to get me the Princeton easier and more authentically? Does the 8" speaker of the LT25 deliver enough sound satisfaction? I'm more than happy to tweak the daylights out of it to get there. Thanks

    Hi does the fender champion 20 is more analogue sound than the Mustang or lt25? Lt25 is more digital is that effects the tone?

  • @earlteigrob9211
    @earlteigrob9211 3 года назад

    In some cases I thought the Vox sounded better (Warmer and more Tube Like) but the Van Halen patch sounded awesome on the LT25. You say the GTX is a big step up...I totally believe that. One youtuber said he thought that LT25 sounded better then the GTX series, but that must have been after s few puffs.

    They sound awesome together. Just like two siblings getting along. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten the GTX100. It's too loud and needs a way to cut back the wattage, like the Katana does. I was smitten by the new footswitch though.

    • @tonyleeglenn
      @tonyleeglenn  3 года назад

      Oh that GTX100 is a big step up. Don't worry about it being loud. When you record to a board you are going to love it. I really like the outputs for direct recording with that baby. I need to do some new vids about it soon. Thanks for watching my brother!!

    I do miss my VOX but I do love the Fender, both great amps, but you never knows something might pop on on the used market, nothing wrong having both lol but the key word is modern, and VOX has done really no updates significant with the VTX series, maybe they are trying to faze out the tube, but the VTX needs updating , the ability to record like the LT25 , upgrade the legacy USB port, improve the speaker, but still a great amp,

    As a bedroom player do you think the mustang gtx would be worth the extra money over the lt25?

    • @tonyleeglenn
      @tonyleeglenn  3 года назад

      I have both - and yes, the GTX has many more options for effects and amps. If you can afford the extra bucks, it's a really great amp. The LT25 is a lot of bang for the buck, but is limited compared to a GTX 100 or 50.

    • @tonyleeglenn
      @tonyleeglenn  2 года назад +1

      If he likes older, classic rock and blues he might like the Vox better. It has a tube preamp that gives great traditional sounds. The Fender has in many ways superior effects, and is excellent for more modern and experimental sounds. Either amp will take a beginner down an enjoyable path. I still probably play the Vox more than the Mustang - but even more often I play both of them in a stereo pair - which is the ultimate blast!

    What is the program to record audio through USB for fender mustang lt25?

    • @strivingx67
      @strivingx67 2 года назад

      I'm looking into this now as well. From what I can tell you should be able to use any DAW. Like Audacity (Free)Reaper (cheap $), Protools ($$$) etc. Right now I am using a Blackstar ID Core 10 to go from USB to computer using Reaper. It works great. But my little amp is old and having a few issues. So time to replace. I am leaning toward the Fender, since it has an USB out to record. Vox, from what I understand does not. You have to Mic it or use a line out to an Interface (e.g. Focusrite).
