I watched all of your weekender series, binged watched them with no guilt whatsoever. Really hope you'll continue sharing new videos, you make me regret not choosing Home Economics (culinary) over Design and Tech in school.
Thanks for watching!
The push lights in the sconces...genius!
Loved it, would just have maybe painted the frame of the push light black, so it would blend it better
I love how she preempts us with her background in English major before she explains why it's absolutely justified for her to spray paint her books. 😭🙏🏼 Monica you're so smart and creative.
Monica, im feeling your transparency - like your home isnt magnificently styled and "perfect" (not that it isnt beautiful)! But you meet us right where most of our homes are while giving us groovy projects to enhance our spaces. And they are functional!
Glad you're liking them!
Oh this episode was AWESOME!! Trying to figure out where I can do this in my home!!🤔🤔
@@monicamangin5678 my God, you are gorgeous. Wow
I love the spray painted books. I had a house fire and my books have damage and i have been racking my brain for ideas to save them. I think spray paint is the answer. Thanks Monica!
Perfect solution!
Did you ever get the smell out? If so, how?
Oh and it could be fun to assign a different paint color to each genre of book
I.LOVE.THIS.IDEA!!!
@@EastCoastCreative that would at least give you a clue as to where your book is hidden away without having to pull out each one to see the cover. You would still have to do that but at least you would only have to do that in the color block, not both full shelves. Might also work if within one color say blue is sci/fi then you have various shades of blue so that each author you collect has the same exact color but still meshes with the overall blue of the genre. Perhaps I am over thinking this because part of me did kinda freak at first and I am trying to work through it.

That whole geometry/geography thing was hilarious 😂😂 This whole space came out amazing, like always!
Oh my gosh,. It was a major fail. haha
Antoinette, I TOTALLY agree!
Well I mean Geography teachers use compasses too
MONICA!!! I've missed you! Need more Monica videos and less sad news.
More episodes coming your way - stay tuned!
What an awesome idea! my sister is talking about a reading book in her room and this gave me great ideas for her. I love home Decor and wanted to do it for a career but of necessity became a care provider. I still love it and do it when I can.
So glad your back!!!! Love this project! Love the “wallpaper”
Me too!! The jumbo buffalo check is so good!
Just one suggestion painting before putting up the wallpaper eliminates the tedium of cutting in next to this checks.
I would love to see a multipurpose space! Most importantly dining room/ homework office area. We’ve tried to add a desk to their rooms (the kids) but the whole family always ends up in the kitchen/dining area anyways and I would love to see how it can be functional and stylish without the cluttered look lol
That's a great idea!
You are so talented and very funny! Thank for all the great ideas on how to make a house a home. God has blessed you with an awesome gift. I'm so glad you saw the your life going a different direction so that we could all be a part of the blessing.
Just have to tell you how much I love your work, personality and your videos!! Makes me super happy! Surprise us with more of your creativity
Really appreciated seeing the daybed build. NIFTY!
Nifty indeed!
That's okay, Monica. Nothing like 'mombrain'... keeps us on our toes! lol 😁
I love the work you did and especially the wallpaper and the DIY bed. Of course, your transparency is admired!
You think so much out of the box that 90 per cent of the time I find me asking myself, what is she doing?! And then in the end everything come up together really cohesive. But Monica, that mirror?? Like wow.
For however is interesting, I have a DIY channel as well, who wants to pass by is more than welcome. Much much love.
🤓 Monica gave a heads up and I'm still mind blown. The books are Beautiful!! No beef here; I loooooove it. I think the kiddos may love this idea more than me.
I love it too!
Its always great to see you Monica and your designes...Monica is one of the bes😁😁😁Great video
How fun is that space?!?! Yayyyyyyy
Good to see you back, Monica!
So excited to see this video pop up, I am binging my way through RUclips DIYers and hands down your videos are my absolute favorites.
The mirror looks pretty cool
I am a hoarder of books especially now that everything is going to ebooks. Ebooks are not good for chronic migraines. I love the idea of making them more colorful! And that it doesn’t ruin them is inspiring. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
Hi Monica. I like your style and wish to see more of wonderful work. I liked the bed with a space to keep shoes underneeth😘
I love your cozy corner especially the wall sconces.
Thanks!
I really love the lighting idea. Perfect and will be using this one. Also, those crates on the floor would be perfect for books!
Great tips on hanging wall shelves! Will be using this idea as well.
Thanks for sharing!
Glad you love it and can apply the ideas to your space! That's the goal! DIY 4 life!
The Lights! What an awesome idea 💡
Thanks!
Yay!! I missed Monica
I am sooooo glad you are still working for Lowe's, Monica! Your videos are among my favorites, and we have completed so many of your ideas during this quarantine! Thank you!!!
Awesome! Send us some pics on instagram!
Haha, I would LOVE to see Monica 3rd-wheel-it-up with Drew and Jonathan!
I love the buffalo check and the sconce tip!
Sconce tip is a great one if you don't have electric nearby! Easy peasey!
Monica! So glad to see you start a new series. Really loved your last one!
Thank you!
You are so talented, no need to justify your decisions to do what you do. Cos I have watched every episode of the Weekender and you are so creative & smart. Your kids are sòoooooo lucky to have you as a fun mum. Looking forward to more episodes.
Looks awesome. I bet your home is like a showroom in every corner.
Loved all of this! The wonderful rainbow on the shelves is so up my alley. And you got the geometry right when describing your career 180°!
I adore Monica!
I really liked it beautiful as always 😘❤️. One small note : i wish the book shelves were a bit more far from the corner so as one can rest their back and to the wall in the corner, it would be more relaxing to me if i would diy this in my room. Thanks for your ideas, they're inspiring. 👌
Another gem from Monica.
I have become obsessed with these series! Our new home is definitely a "Lowe's" house. Almost every part of our reno has been from Lowe's.
Awesome to hear! Glad you're getting inspiration!
OMG, the tap light idea just blew my mind. I am a Lowe'saholic and its awesome to know that i can find most of the materials there. Thanks so for having this channel.
Thanks for watching!
Monica, I'm glad you're back doing these DIY Lowe's projects! They are so relatable for people even, if you live in an apartment. I really enjoyed the wall sconces I was having a problem finding wireless sconces and your ideal helped me so I now have great choices. Thanks again 💙
I really thank God that I find you because being on a low budget I really need to start building my own things and you have been a blessing.
Yes for the tap light. Well thank you for that ❤❤❤
You're such an inspirational lady, I'm obsessed with watching your videos. Keep glowing , God bless you !!! ❤❤❤😍😍
Is The Weekender ever coming back?! Please say yes!!🙏
Not sure! I'll be sure to let everyone know if I hear anything :)
I loved that show. I learned how to do so much watching that, and it really have me confidence to tackle projects around my house and help family figure out solutions to their home projects.
Amy G Exactly! The fact that they were weekend makeovers that utilised a lot of diy & handy tricks, tips & hacks meant that they were actually achievable for anyone. I would sometimes save an episode for a particular project so it’s easy to find later!
@@EastCoastCreative We are more than happy to create a petition! You affect people all over the world, I'm watching from Greece! :)
@Monica East Coast Creative I agree with these ladies! I have to binge watch your shows to get the confidence to do stuff around my home. You have GREAT ideas!!!
Monica, you are such an inspiration! I love your vibrant personality, your creativity and your self-confidence thank you for sharing all your tips
The tap light in the sconces is a great idea for apartments! I love it. Now I can add pretty lighting over my night stand.
Yes perfect scenario!
I love how it all turned out. I couldn't see the separates but all put together, it's gorgeous!
Oh! And I'm definitely going to use that tap light idea!
It always comes together in the end!
Totally unrelated, but I love her backyard. That space is huge!
Thanks! We've got a few projects coming up outside the house. Stay tuned!
Space is amazing, of course. I appreciate the time you took to EXPLAIN ... HOW to do the projects. Keep up the great, creative work!!!
I'm late to the game on this channel but I LOVE what you're doing Monika 😉 The wall sconce hack is exactly what I need for the cottage We are off grid and don't have solar yet!! Thanks again
Good job Monica! The reading nook looks really good.
Glad you like it!
"Hi, Friends!" OMG YES. Monica, Jonathan and Drew! Lowes! Make that happen please!
Yes please!
See a new video notification from Lowe’s! I literally did a happy dance!! Your energy and excitement is so contagious
Aww thanks! I do a happy dance on launch day too!
Agreed, Akila! I love Monica. I wish I could get her out to the Seattle area to help me!
Oh Monica 😂 it's nice to me that a talented gal like yourself makes the same slip ups like the rest of us 💖
This was the video I had to stick in front of my husband and say that, "We can do this!" I would like to make an artist table and have this corner by my windows. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your uplifting and super creative tutorials.
Thanks for the kind words. Go do it!
Out of all the episodes this is my favorite because you make a mistake like I do all the time. Then you claim to feel pride of being smart then nail the cheat board. Love it. !!!! It is nice to know that we all make mistakes.
We sure do! That's all part of the DIY experience!
You totally rock! I love the rainbow of color you added to the books, and they are still readable! The Peel and Stick Wall Paper looks fantastic, I'll have to see if I can find that buffalo print. Thanks for another great DIY! ~Margie
Wow, Monica Love it, Thanks for the inspo!
I love the book painting idea! I've seen other ideas of covering the book, but this seems the quickest. I also like another comment here about painting them by genre. Not only would that help to remember which book is which without having to pull them off the shelf, it adds a little fun! "What do I feel like reading today...pink!"
Monica, you are really an amazing diy Guru. I love all of your projects. It is very relatable.
You, Monica, are my latest obsession!!! Love 💓 your inspiration!
I love that nook, I read about 5 books a week , would be more if people would let me :) I just would have eliminated the bottom shelf so that you can lean back against that wall. Love it :)
BTW, your show is soooo much better than any other show. Keep it up. You teach people, other shows do not! I am going to Lowe's soon to check it out. Thank you for your fun, and creative shows.
Love this! Maximum cozy!
Thanks Jess!!
I really love it. I now have the idea how i can transform my father's nook. now that he barely walk, he wants to be at that side of our house. I hope i can transform that corner for him. I'm so excited to start this project. So inspired by your creativity. God bless to you and yur family. :)
Love the sconce idea!
Thanks!
I'm watching Drew Barrymore and this is something I want for myself. Yours is lovely.
I loved The Weekender and hope you do more episodes. These little spots are awesome as well. Love that you decorate for the average person that doesn't have $50,000 to spend. Many of us have a limited budget and a limited skill set. You inspire us! Thanks so much!
Thank you for watching and so glad you're inspired!
Hmm...the jury is still out on this one. It’s a very busy space, but definitely looks cozy!! Almost like a corner of a bedroom vibe...
I have a unique project I am thinking through. So I will be using a Tuff Shed to make an outdoor office space for myself. The tricky part is I am an actor. I am figuring out a way to have a voice over area (as sound proofed as possible) and also a small area to put down a portable dance floor for tap practice. Both those things on top of having a space that I would want to be in for hours and would help spark creativity. Its a thinker.
Mary, sounds like a great idea! Back in the day when my late hubby and I were recording music in our home studio, we used puffy quilts to pad the walls in our little city house. Worked out great - deadened the space so there was just enough bounce off the ceiling and wood shelving for instruments and vocals. The comforters were filled more than you would find today, but you could make your own tufted pads for the walls. If you know who Rhythm In Shoes is, they live in my area and are on FB, I believe, under Rick and Sharon Good. They do clogging and music and tap, and may have tips for your practice floor, since Sharon has a performance floor she carries to gigs. Good luck!!
I love these ideas! I have been marathon-watching your episodes from over the years getting great ideas! You are really creative!
Stunning!!!
Lighting idea is BRILLIANT! Thanks for another DYI masterpiece. Now if I can only come up with a great laundry room makeover. It’s all white, I’m thinking blue accent wall and Llama prints!
That was so fun and easy. I will be applying the idea of painting my shelf brackets same color as my wall.
Glad it inspired you!!
OMG!!! Love this and the tap light idea was exactly what I needed for a project that I was pondering and procrastinating because I had a similar situation and did not want the task of adding electrical in a wall.
Oh my thankful that you're back. I love your segment in this channel.
I love it so pretty and cozy lamp idea so creative you are so talented love to binge watch your show
I love this woman !!! Regards from Guatemala.
Thanks!
Loved the makeover!!
You are just so cute, sweet and I LOVE ALL your videos. Keep it up! Definitely inspiring my hubby and I to do the backyard mud pie, closet and patio makeover to our new home. Thank you so much 💓
I'll admit I was definitely going to say something about painting the books but actually I like it as a way to keep particular sentimental books looking different (so long as they're still readable long term). Super fun final result.
You're happy to be back on this channel... We are overwhelmed with joy, you're back. Idk should I watch on 1.5 times speed to faster see your awsome solutions or to 0.25timea speed, so it won't end so fast😏😂🤣 decisions decisions 🤦♀️🤷♀️ anyways... Happy to watch you. Love every diy 👍❤️
Ha! Thanks!
i love your videos you pop up in my suggestions and im glad i clicked on your videos.....im currently taking classes for landscape design, interior design, and carpentry...your diy videos made me feel more confident....you skipped the hard part and made everything look so much easier..thank you so much
My wife just finished her Masters in Library Science and we’re making an in home library. This is such an awesome addition!! Thank you!! Any ideas for adding lighting to a room without using 30 lamps? 😂
Future librarian cheering on your librarian! :)
Alexis B. I would say welcome to the fold but I probably don’t meet the criteria for such an invitation 😂
You could use ribbon lights along the bookshelves, similar to kitchen cabinet under-lighting, to make the books really shine as the star in your space :)
LED recessed lights in the ceiling. They are the same thickness as the drywall, so no need for the big cans. If you are not comfortable with electrical work, hire a pro.
I'm so happy to finally see Monica again!! I miss the Weekender. Can you bring it back or create a show a similar design show for her with a different title? She's truly awesome!
Aw thanks!
So happy you're back, Monica!! You're my favorite part of lowe's ♥️♥️
Aw thanks so much!
IT'S pretty cool....I like it. I love books too...great inspiration for my idea. Thank you blessings
I absolutely love the day bed idea!
I love this home makeover
I audibly gasped when I saw her sprat paint the books, but I like the result!
Ha! Looks great and I can still read em!
I did this in my free time because I love books.
By the way, spray painting the tips of the pages was actually genius
You're a genius Monica!!! Amazing how you transform this place beautifully.. 👍👍
We love Monica! Please come pick any room in my new house for a weekender haha
Love this makeover and you!!!
A) The tap light thing is GENIUS. I think you might be also able to use a battery operated bulb perhaps? but B) I too used to be an english teacher (kinda still am) and am now getting into all things DIY. I am so inspired by your journey!
Excellent! English Teachers and DIYers gotta stick together!
Spray painting the books is
a wonderful idea. 💕
I concur!
