You're the best!!! When I look for simplicity patterns, I search thru yours, then head to RUclips to see if there's a tutorial! You've helped me so much. I have been subscribed to your Sewing Academy for a few years. Thank you for what you do. ❤
I can't even begin to explain how gratefull I am to you for posting this... I'd been trying to figure out the collar part for 6 hours yesterday following the pattern I had but it wasn't making any sense to me and led to me crying in frustration and then I found this... My jacket doesn't look anywhere near as good as yours or the picture on the pattern but it's done now and I can move on... Thank you!
Amazing Tutorial Mimi, know you work so Hard on these, and we get for Free! Thanks for blessing us with your knowledge. I have wanted a suit for a few years now, but have been scared to make Welt pockets. I plan to Buy your pattern soon & give it a Try/will also give me a reason to use my blind Hem presser foot (which does not get used often)🤣 Hugs & God Bless🤗
O goodness girl, that takes me back years and years, made the same jacket and similar material for my 20th birthday, I am now 72. Hahaha, how the wheel turns! Xx
thank you so much for this tutorial I had to do this coat for my class and if it wasnt for this tutorial I would of been lost thank you again I will make the pants to match my coat
Thank you for the tutorial! I would like to sew a suit for myself after I get out of the beginner stage and become experienced enough at sewing clothes. After that, I will get experience by sewing a suit for a small child. (I can donate it to a charity's thrift shop so that they can earn money from my learning to sew.). Then, I'll be able to sew s suit for myself out if the expensive quality cloth.
... you cleared up a lot of questions I had on pockets, linings and collars... could not get it from the pattern drawings (actually in most pattern drawings I can’t even tell what part of the garments they are talking about from the picture they have 😳).... I totally get what’s happening now, thanks to your super clear instructions!
@IfixAorCraft2 definitely, perhaps the finished product does not look so good when being worn. Sadly!;-( The same thing goes for some foods that you see being prepared. I've learned that some advertisers tend to use non edible items to advertise their products. Example of places that do just that are Burger King, McDonald's KFC, Popeyes, pizza shops etc. Sadly!;-(😥😢😪😭. Nevertheless folks are tricked into thinking that the foods are looking good as displayed. Sadly!;-(😥
Hi MiMi. Love all your videos and I even have some of your patterns. My question to you is if I needed to increase my pattern to my size do I have grade all the pattern pieces to my size? Terry Love
Very good instructions. I’m an experienced seamstress, and I’ve made similar projects but it’s been a while. I am making this for my teen granddaughter, and the other garment I made was a coat. I’m hoping that the jacket turns out as nice as the coat did.
You are the it girl, I love this tutorial oh he'll I love all of them. I was a little intimidated at first, glade I decided to watch a little more I'M SO HAPPY I STARTED WATCHING MORE OF YOU, YOU ARE A GREAT TEACHER
This is a very comprehensive video, but the speed of it is much too fast. A jacket is a big undertaking for a home sewer, and the technicalities need to be explained in a little more depth, and slower, so one can keep up with it. It would be useful to know with techniques related only to jackets or outerwear, why Mimi is doing some of the steps, ie the object of them. Presumably this video is being used as a marketing tool for the pattern, however coverage of the making of it in this case, has failed as far as I am concerned. It has made it look possibly more complicated than it actually is. Mimi is a fantastic seamstress, so please let us see a bit more of her wonderful skills.
My advice to you is try doing more blouses and maybe a light jacket with no lining first if this looks too intimidating to you. Once you get more experience it will be a piece of cake.
I don’t want to be picky but could please try not to use ...” go ahead ...” so repeatably it’s a bit annoying and easy to be replaced.... Other than that I love what’s you doing. Great job. X

Excellent tutorial - especially about lining the jacket. Lining has been my headache.... This video made it seem soo easy :)
I'm adding the lining right now. I've wept a few times trying to get it right, but it's worth it!
Wow! I have never sewn a jacket but this is a great guide and you are such an expert sexist. Thank you x

Suggestion: can zig zg the seam edges before pinning and sewing the cut pieces together.

No buttons on the coat? Liked the fabric you used but would like to use wool for a dress up coat for special occasions.
Plaids and clinging pants may widen your figure. Love the elongating jacket.
Great sew along! You make it look so easy. Thank you for sharing.
It would be nice to see the linger jacket as it has a kick back opening that I would love to see how we do it with the lining....
That pocket is made so kool.
Nice jacket.
Hi Mimi, do you make a practice garment before doing this jacket for perfect fitting?
Ohh..you solved my problem... Sleeve attachment.
Thnk you

Can I do this in light to medium weight denim?
Thanks for this video it was very helpful. 😊
Do you recommend block interfacing if using wool blend Mimi?
Please what type of fabric are you using?
Dope!...now what if I wanted to add a button or zipper if I wanted a closed jacket?... Do I just add it to the facings
You are the it girl, I love this tutorial oh he'll I love all of them. I was a little intimidated at first, glade I decided to watch a little more I'M SO HAPPY I STARTED WATCHING MORE OF YOU, YOU ARE A GREAT TEACHER
Thank You My GOD Bless You!ly
Does anyone know what machine she is using?
Would this work with a medium to light denim?
Yes
What do we do for the lining near the vent? Did I miss that part?
Muhteşem thank you👍
What is the name of the interfacing that she is using?
The pockets insertion is different to the pattern instructions.... very confusing
Mine turned out so bad.
was 11 not mentioned?
Love it🔥🔥
But from where can we get pattern
@Raheela Mughal, Buy them at the FABRIC store. Or draft them yourself. Drafting is fun and VERY easy too!;-)
Or you can buy Burda magazine from a stationery
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😍😍🤩🤩🤩❤❤❤❤❤❤
Totally off topic: What's with the earring thing?
