On the one hand I agree with Grischuk. This tournament is played at the worst possible moment. There is risk to the players and support teams, there is reckless behavior by tournament organizers and there is this huge cloud hanging that ongoing pandemic may force the tournament to be abandoned on the virus terms anyway. On the other hand, these games was one of the last pieces of normalcy in my day. Looking forward to watching these reviews and forgetting even for a short bit the crazy world outside my house was something I really cherish.
Maybe it was because I had followed parts of this this game live (without any commentary), but this was one of the most instructive videos I have seen on this wonderful chanel!
Fabi was unlucky to loose a better game against Ding but lucky in this one.... so, it all balances out.... Nepo against Hao missed the best move Kf1, but benefited form a blunder from Hao Qd7 instead of Qe7. Even at this level it's not whether your position is better and whether you started strong, but it's whether you can finish strong
In life, as in chess, one’s own pawns block one’s way. A man’s very wealthy, ease, leisure, children, books, which should help him to win, more often checkmate him..
This game is rather unusual and dare I say bizarre. It can never be said that Caruana is afraid to take risks and create imbalances on the board. This is a terrible time for the world and I wonder if perhaps the players are feeling some regret to committing to the event. I could not judge Grischuk if he decided to withdrawal.
The fact Grischuk now want's to stop is beyond me. He knew beforehand what the situation was from the start and after 5 rounds reconsidering his decision is his own fault but a major consequence for the other players. In my eyes he can't stop now as that would be really selfish
I think it's clear that Fabi should go back to playing QGD against d4 instead of the Slav. It's not the time to break out openings with which you don't have enough experience.
He didnt last time, why would he beat Carlsen the next time? even his play against Carlsen was timid. Id rather have MVL or Nepo win as they tend to be more aggressive and would be more challenging to Carlsen.
marius maximus I realy like Giri and I want him to win the candidate but it is very annoying when he keeps missing all he’s chances . in 2016 he could win the candidate if converted most of his winning positions but he drew them all and it was so sad ☹️
@@rawandhamid6264 in Tata Steel 2019 he was second 8½/13 5 wins, after Magnus with only 4 wins. 2018 again second after Magnus, both 5 wins, lost in the tiebreak. So he does beat super GM colleagues from time to time. :)
Danny, something tells me that if had you studied to be a psychologist, your specialization would have been on split personalities! On the same lines, is your favorite book "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"? Ok, I'll stop now.
We’ve now seen two games where caruana launches ambitious fronts but then slows down. Not a criticism , just an observation. I honestly think he could beat me even with this kind of hesitant approach 🤣
Instead of tournaments having wildcards they should just ban giri and take the next highest rated player. he will never win anything important and he doesnt even try to. get him out of there.
He has won very important tournaments in his career. What are you talking about? Of course he is trying to win. And he is playing pretty well in this tournament so far.
Your AUDIO is miserable as I have alreafdy mentioned. You seem not to fixing it. I'm un-subscribing. I'll check back in a few months. Most other sites seem to have a handle on this. A great SHAME.

Giri successfully converted his good position into a draw as intended
Ha ha.
He's doing it for us, so we get extra bonus months for joining Chess24!
(They're having a special where you get an extra month each time he draws)
Giri goes to the Peter Leko Drawing School
Anish Giri in candidates tournament as of round 6
+1-0=21
@@stopwritingthatreplyjohnat6638 he has a loss but ok
I Really feel that I'm learning a great deal about being a Gentleman...simply from watching this channel😊

They aren't going to abandon the tournament...what are you smoking??
Indeed. I live practically in quarantine here at home and this tournament is about the only joy I have.
Agreed, FIDE has risked a lot although a lot is at stake.
Radjabov was right all along
gotta say nothing brightens my day quite like a daniel king video

Thanks for the excellent coverage, Daniel. It's been great following you, especially now that most of us are cooped with little to do. Stay safe!
Love it that you picked this game!
It's nice to have the Candidates Tournament as a release from the stress of Covid-19.

Giri is at his best when he sticks to his game plan of looking for the draw, finding the draw, and not getting distracted until he achieves the draw
Giri’s great grandfather in the old west was challenged to a gunfight in Dodge City. The guy said “Draw” and his great grandfather shook hands.
you absolutely must create a Tee Shirt about split rooks, lol - the true calling card of Power Play Chess...I will be the first to buy one!

😃👍👏👌💯👋💪 Love Your Channel Like Always!
First view! Got it! Keep up the great work, Mr. King!
An interesting game. Most enjoyable.
What amazing game!!!!!
BAM! Filled my PowerPlayChess bingo card with split rooks :-)
A backward knight move is the hardest move to find.

Beautiful!

I hope they don't call it off. they should observe security norms but the candidates is keeping the whole world going through a very testing time
A killer draw! Yeah!
🇺🇸
They can postpone the next rounds for months if necessary, but the players should keep their current scores.
Totally agree with Grischuk. The tournament should be stopped and postponed, psychological safety is extremely important
If Grischuk went 5/5, he wouldn't be saying that.
Sometimes I feel like these top guys overthink and over complicate matters. Double the rooks, why not? But Rook e2!? is too fancy for me.
"I didn't remember what I was supposed to play" -- and that is precisely the problem. Over reliance on preparation.
It's a sign that many more Chess960 tournaments should be played. B)
too many players are computer robots these days
When your rooks are split you're in deep... Trouble.
Your commentary is getting literally
BINGO! Split rooks!
I wouldn't be surprised if Fabi decides to put Slav defense aside for a moment. Both games with this opening weren't good for him.
Giri is so frustrating. I reckon I could have smashed black over the board here. Split Rooks, Bishop Pair, King Safety.
Don't underestimate the tenacious defence.
I think it's clear that Fabi should go back to playing QGD against d4 instead of the Slav. It's not the time to break out openings with which you don't have enough experience.
Yeah, interesting to see if he sticks with the Slav, it is giving him a lot of work for the draw.
If only there were some way to play chess without needing to meet face to face. Oh, wait ...
Giri trying to draw his way to Carlsen
fabi is playing like crap. if he does win, i don’t see him dethroning the king.
He didnt last time, why would he beat Carlsen the next time? even his play against Carlsen was timid. Id rather have MVL or Nepo win as they tend to be more aggressive and would be more challenging to Carlsen.
Caruana could risk even more , in the worst case he would get a draw against Anish
giri seems a good man.. why do you like making fun of him?
So, how does anybody reach a 2700+ rating drawing every game? :)
marius maximus I realy like Giri and I want him to win the candidate but it is very annoying when he keeps missing all he’s chances . in 2016 he could win the candidate if converted most of his winning positions but he drew them all and it was so sad ☹️
Herman M by drawing against all 2700+ players

After 26.f5?! white would have risked winning the game.

Huh ? Whatever gives you that impression?
Not the best game this round, IMO. I liked MVL game, for sheer fireworks.
Grischuck is right

Yes. I’m sure he could beat you
Fabi seems to have a history of starting slowly in tournaments, then coming on strong later. Let's see -- provided the tournament is not suspended!
No doubt if he was leading Grischuk wouldn't think any such thing.
Instead of tournaments having wildcards they should just ban giri and take the next highest rated player. he will never win anything important and he doesnt even try to. get him out of there.
Are you seriously claiming that he didn't try to win against Fabiano?
Even after watching this video?!?
Smh..
He has won very important tournaments in his career. What are you talking about? Of course he is trying to win. And he is playing pretty well in this tournament so far.

You are getting great content from one of the best chess commentators on RUclips and this is your reaction? Shame is on you!
@@chessexpertAleksey I agree great content from a great commentator. But if I'm distracted and can't "hear" it, in the end it's not good.
Hmm. Not sure what you're talking about, audio is fine for me. More likely the problem is with your connection or your ISP.
