When I started to listen, I felt like 'what is so special about this cover?' I almost stopped playing it. However, when her play reached to the guitar solo part, I could only say 'Oh, my... oh my..'. Her play was more than fantastic and I was totally blown away. At the end of the clip. she showed another brilliant play. Wow.. What a player.. 5 Star!!
Had the same reaction only now I'm about 10 videos in on her channel, subscribed, and wondering how hard the transition from guitar to gayageum is! lol
In my own opinion, I thought the cover was special from the get go, because the way she can play the gayageum in such a way that it almost sounds like an electric guitar is simply amazing. The fact that she is playing all of these western songs with a eastern/Korean instrument -- and executing it so flawlessly -- makes me wonder why she doesn't have more recognition. She makes me want to learn the gayageum myself :D
If you watch traditional Korean music played with Gayageum, you will understand why the first second of this video is mind blowing for Koreans (and those who know about eastern music). Shorty put: it is completely unnatural way of playing this instrument.
Dan K I got confirmation from Luna that she invented that technique for playing chords and, as far as she knows, she is the only one to use it. Understand that, unlike on a guitar where you find the notes you want to play, Luna is using her left hand to mute the strings she doesn't want to ring out. It is like playing some sort of anti chord. Think of what it would be like to say that you invented the power chord on the guitar. Well that is basically what she has done on this instrument!
How could anyone possibly give this a thumbs down ? This is by far one of the coolest things that I have ever seen performed on a traditional Asian instrument. This girl is pure genius .
Since it just became 4/22 in South Korea it looks like this one will hit 1,000,000 views on your birthday for sure! What a great gift for you! Congratulations Luna!
I first saw AC/DC live on their Back In Black tour at the Hammersmith Odeon back in November 1980. Never thought then that I'd hear this song covered on a Far Eastern stringed instrument!! And I love it!!!
The simplicity of this song is deceptive. It gives you few bones to play with for structure, but you damn well better know what bones can and can not be replaced when you improvise! :)
I've been looking for you for so much time. The mix between ACDC and asian music is the best thing that happened to this World since the defeat of Saruman.
well, FYI, there were masterpieces by the Chinese back in 5th century. I can understand your enthusiasm for ACDC, but show some respect for a historical instrument.
No powerful enough words to describe this! Simply amazing! But can she run back and forth on stage playing that thing? Who cares! Ten thumbs up! Oh wait! I only have two! Damn!
WOW! Playing like this took real skill & was very entertaining to both watch & listen to:)! Also have to add that this is the first time I've ever heard one of these instruments played where the sound didn't remind me of a cat with it's tail stuck in a garbage disposal unit. Keep up the great work!
Where have you been all my life Luna!??!! Just watched your newer video by Dire Straits.....your the real thing. And I never ever say that about anyone who does covers but your truly talented. My words cannot accurately describe your talent and abilities. Thank you!!!
Never seen an instrument like this before and to see her hit the notes and make it talk! I think she plays on instruments of long ago and does it well for modern music.
Can't stop watching this. Simply amazing how accurately you've managed to transpose something in a western key to an instrument not designed for it. Your tempo was flawless and you got every bend and nuance of the original, or as close as humanly possible. Beyond that, I was mesmerized by the grace and quickness of your fingers.... and DIFFICULTY of how you physically play the song. It's not only great to hear, but beautiful to watch. Love seeing you get into it and the flourishes, etc. Just outstanding. Bravo!
I enjoyed this about 100 times more than I expected.
+Dave Solomon Though it would have been cooler if she'd been able to get Brian's vocals and not Jesse from Jackyl.
I agree man
+Dave Solomon
I recognized that voice, but couldn't place who it was! Thank You!
Wasn't Bon Scott the one who sang this song before Brian?
Brian was original singer of BACK IN BLACK...

Yeah, it was evident. I am Korean, I never heard any gayageum played like that ever.
I can’t understand why Luna has not been signed up by a record company she is brilliant
East meets West. Girl you sure know how to rock . Thanx for the experience.
I never imagined an AC/DC cover being done so gracefully. Great job Luna!
How could anyone possibly give this a thumbs down ? This is by far one of the coolest things that I have ever seen performed on a traditional Asian instrument. This girl is pure genius .

Awesome! She shows her "Gayageum face" a little in the last solo.
that turn around just had me. omg that solo. great job.

The best rendition of this song ever.
She kills it!
You rock girl! No useless distractions, just pure talent! Hope you get on a big stage someday!
I love the way you groove your body when you play... great soul keeper...
Absolutely stunning! I really enjoy seeing how this instrument is played. And your fingers are incredibly quick in some of the verses. Beautiful work!
Just goes to show, when you've got a good riff, you can play it on anything. This was awesome, thanks!
Thank you Luna. I really like what you play and also watching you actually play it. Thanks again.
The simplicity of this song is deceptive. It gives you few bones to play with for structure, but you damn well better know what bones can and can not be replaced when you improvise! :)

I looked up freebird on fiddle and found her playing the solo and then looked up gayageum metal
As a fan of AC/DC, I love your mix on the song. Thank you
Damn, nailed the solo
I've been looking for you for so much time.
The mix between ACDC and asian music is the best thing that happened to this World since the defeat of Saruman.
holy shit, this heats up around 2:00! Too bad you can't go back to the 5th century or so and show them how it's really done lol
+wtfgoogle I was fucking thinking the same thing hahahaha
well, FYI, there were masterpieces by the Chinese back in 5th century. I can understand your enthusiasm for ACDC, but show some respect for a historical instrument.
I am not worth...bowing. She totally Awesome. I am so inspired.
AMAZING. I think you just created a new genre of music.
No powerful enough words to describe this! Simply amazing! But can she run back and forth on stage playing that thing? Who cares! Ten thumbs up! Oh wait! I only have two! Damn!
There is no wrong way to rock!!!
even has the fade out at the end, nailed it!
WOW!
Playing like this took real skill & was very entertaining to both watch & listen to:)!

Lunafantastic !!!
This so powerful!!!
Where have you been all my life Luna!??!! Just watched your newer video by Dire Straits.....your the real thing. And I never ever say that about anyone who does covers but your truly talented. My words cannot accurately describe your talent and abilities. Thank you!!!
Only one word. Amazing ...
Immense talent. Bravo!!
Excellent stuff! Great solo!
Never seen an instrument like this before and to see her hit the notes and make it talk! I think she plays on instruments of long ago and does it well for modern music.
Absolutely awesome!
That instrument keeps both hands busy and it looks like it's 20X harder to play than a guitar. Bravo, it sounds terrific!
Wow! this is just awesome.
Your talents are amazing. You play gritty blues riffs like a pro and with so much feeling.
Nailed it. So often these kind of transcription covers get the emphasis and nuance wrong... i don't see how you could have done this any better.
That was great!! Amazing hearing this song in a different rendition. Luna is gorgeous!!
I love this girl. In french we say : Elle en a. It means she's clever.
Kisses from France. 😉
I cried a little bit because it was so brilliant. Thank you.
훌륭합니다...진심 국악의 세계화네요,..

Amazing how you get the finger speed so fast with the large size of that instrument. and the string widths away from each other. nice job. thanks.
Girl, you are amazing!.
What an amazing talent, her sense of rhythm is impeccable.
Love it

가야금 소리가 이렇게 멋진거에 소름돋았고,

Totally amazing. The original rocks. This is solid frickin' granite.
That's talent!
This hit 1000000 views overnight! Congratulations!
PERFECTION!
you are the best. Being a musician myself, I understand the hard work that goes there. I enjoy your music a lot.

+neyo509 Ikr. She needs to be a character in a movie. She'd be even cooler than that Flamethrower guitar guy in Madmax XD
Agreed
I think brilliant is the right word for Luna’s cover here!
100% pure concentrated awesome: **Just add Luna, Gayageum, and stir!**
I agree with Dave Solomon's comment below.
Keep on rocking young Ms Luna Lee.
