Waldner has had one hell of a successful career no doubt, imo the best ever, but I have seen so many finals he has played so loose, the other guy seems he really wants it more. My only criticism with Waldner game is he tends to automatically go on the defensive end and step away from the table, when in fact he is probably the best player to dictate points by blocking and using his opponents offence and standing near the table.
Waldner would have his revenge that same year, obliterating Saive in the 96 Euros and beating him in the 96 top 12 tournament as well. Waldner is known to put more effort into high stakes tournaments.
Excellent video quality, better than many modern videos.

Remember that Waldner didn't take many non important finals like this one very seriously
Feels like Saive was a bit too rushed and lost several points. The ball placement from Waldner was superb. Thank you for the video.
Waldner has touch and creativity but Saive is a hardcore athlete. Footwork at 3:25 is insane.

A lost is a lost. Losing the match after winning the first 2 games is just terrible !! Forget the excuse !!
@@killseacocks That was an exhibition tournament in the USA with zero preperation whatsoever.Waldner was 9 to 1 against Saive after 1995.
@@killseacocksIt was an exhibition match in the US with hardly any relevance.
8:54 I've rarely seen a fault serve generate such an intense reaction from the audience!
wooooooo one of my favs players Saive!!!!
Any chance to bring such tournament back to Socal?
The 1:06 shot is very nice.
Please post the 97 Gilbert cup if you have it.
Saive is not shouting after winning points, like he does generally. I wonder why ?
