  • Pat and Dustin present an in-depth comparison between two popular kites: the Duotone Evo D/Lab and the new Reedin Hypermodel, both are made with super lightweight Aluula materials.
The main content of the video is a comprehensive review, highlighting the differences and similarities between the two kites. They discuss various aspects, such as bar pressure, power, handling, and suitability for different conditions. The Evo D/Lab is noted for its higher bar pressure and gruntiness, making it feel powerful and providing excellent hang time. In contrast, the Reedin Hypermodel is recognized for its lighter bar pressure and faster, tighter loops, making it versatile for various styles of riding, including big air, waves, and foiling.
They delve into technical specifics, like the weight differences between the kites and the unique features of each model. For instance, the Hypermodel’s slightly heavier weight and different material use compared to the Evo D/Lab are discussed.
Pat and Dustin also address practical concerns like size ranges, with the Hypermodel covering sizes from 6m to 14m, and the Evo D/Lab from 7m to 13m. They also touch on the proprietary inflation valves for each brand, offering tips for adapting to these different systems. Reedin uses a “Max Flow” valve, while Duotone features their proprietary “Airport” valve.
Pat and Dustin summarized their thoughts, emphasizing that both kites are excellent choices, with their suitability depending on the rider's preference and style.

For a 13-14m kite for TT & foiling for a 110kg guy, what kite will give me the most fun?

dlab juice 15m. I have the 13m, but I am only 72kg. I can tt it from 13/14 knots with jumps, till 22 gusting 25 max. Aluula kites feel 3m smaller in the large sizes, it's magic. Go test one

    Hi MACkiteboarding Team,
You did this video 2 month ago. Do you have now more experiences? I would like to know something about the jumping and boosting characteristics of these two kites. Which kite is performing better for Big Air?
Are the Hypermodel big air characteristics better compared to supermodel HTF?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  5 месяцев назад

Thank you for reaching out! So it really depends on what you like in jumping and boosting, The evo is a bit easier in my opinion (more sheet in and go) as well as more hang time. The hyper model is a bi faster up and down and requires more flying input to get the most out of its performance.
For the Hyper vs the supermodel I would say its a very similar story the Hyper model just takes a bit more of an experienced rider or more time on the kite to nail the jumps the window to get the most out of it well boosting is a bit smaller due to the increased flying speed. Both are great kites in my opinion, the hyper is a step up from the super model, but you need the skills and or the time on the kite to really get the most out of that kite.
      Cheers,
      Pat & Dustin

I like the comparisons to a carbon mountain bike, you don't need it but you'll enjoy it if you can afford it 😂.
Would love to see how each perform in the surf and when foiling. Also, how do they compare to the roam?

Duotone is so delicate and unreliable, anything other is a better choice. Will pick up a 10M Hypermodel. See if I want to replace BOTH my EVO DLap AND NEO DLab Quiver.

They tried to strip them too much of weight and the quality has gone with it, Iv seen 2 to 3 months old evo d-labs looking like 3 year old kites when looking at the trailing edge especially, they are falling apart, not something you want if paying 2.5k for a kite
Aluula is fantastic though, but don’t just put that down to the weight, I think what is the key is the super stiff frame, that makes them so responsive, looking at core xr pro compared to the xr8 the weight reduction is not that great, as they still kept the kite super durable with all the usual reinforcements, but on the water the xr pro is so much faster, yes different design thinner leading edge etc due to the stiffness of Aluula,

@@vikingh3008 Agree 100%. Same with the 2023 Trust Bat which is having line breakage and depower insert wear.
But yeah, I’m so over this making everything light sacrificing durability. Considering the cost, I don’t think I’ll be buying anymore gear until they change this paradigm.

My dlabs are holding up very well so far after 80+ days of combined use. Leading edge made of alula definitely looks like it will last longer than sls. For the first time in 3 years, I am not planning to buy any new kites for the upcoming season. The only thing I have changed with dlabs is I do not pump them with a compressor as I am afraid to blow them up which happened on sls kite before
