    the A3 2.0t Quattro is the underappreciated bastard Child of the VAG lineup: A GTI with 4 wheel drive but it gets snubbed cause it's sandwiched between a GTI, Golf R, and Audi S3 (I'd say also the RS3 but that's way more money outside of the other cars).
    Such an underrated machine

    Hi Mason and Drew 😄, excellent in depth review of the 2019 A3, in the black color it's a sleek and aggressive small European car if there were LED fog lights, the car would be even more stunning. The A3 is very much a Golf GTI on a sedan platform. I see a lot of similarities between this 2019 model and my 2014 Jetta. The numbers of the quattro powerplant is exactly the same as the new upcoming 2019 Jetta GLI. Audi and VW are siblings of course. I actually am surprised that Audi is still using a switchblade key for the A3 though it has push button start, but my Jetta is also push button start w/ a switchblade key. Ahhh that German quirkyness.

    • @CarConfections
      @CarConfections  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah this cars been on the market for several years so that switchblade key is one of the holdout features... But that new GLI looks like a pretty intriguing option since it'll sticker for a lot less than this!

    • @leekohler5118
      @leekohler5118 4 года назад +1

      The A5 Sportback is the perfect Audi. But if you can't afford that, like me, the A3 is pretty great. It's so reliable. I wish more reviewers talked about that. I have a 2015 A3 and you know what has gone wrong in those four years? A dead battery. I wish more reviewers would talk about reliability, Audis are seriously good, reliable cars.

  • @2W3X4YZ5
    @2W3X4YZ5 5 лет назад +2

    The more I understand start/stop, the more I dislike it.
    1. A turbo engine should never be shut off while the turbo is hot. As in, you exit a freeway and come to a stop for a red light. Turbo is still very hot. Engine shuts off. Imo extremely bad for turbo and engine life.
    2. When an engine shuts off, all the oil runs down into the crankcase. I don’t see any way that the cams and valves can stay lubricated enough to safely restart the engine then start driving in the space of a second or two.
    Great review. Nice little car. I like Audis but found them to be too fragile for my driving style. If I had anything to complain about for your video, YOU DIDNT TURN ON THE REAR FOG LAMPS!!! J/K.
    Keep up the good work.

    I currently drive a modded 2013 Scion FR-S. The moral of the story is that I’m a big car enthusiast since I was young . I always swayed back and forth between American muscle, Japanese tuners and German luxury. Honestly the Japan’s are superior in engineering engines more sophisticatedly than their counterparts. I’ve been a fan of the jdm group for a while , but one thing that makes me want to trade in my frs is that it lacks luxury and gadgets ; pretty much like a race car, just the techometer and radio. The Japanese aren’t really sophisticated in making cars that have a great interior and something that you will never get tired of . I’m really not into German cars because I perceive people who drive them cocky and arrogant, but this car is one of my options. Unfortunately I’m going to downgrade in engineering wise , but hopefully the interior would make up for it. I also see for me that drive a manual Japanese car is for the teenagers and driving one of these is for appearing prestigious

    The cool thing about this car is that it has potential to be a sleeper car, the Quattro model has 225 HP, and with a simple ECU tune up and perhaps a few bolt-ons you can practically make it an unofficial Audi S3, the Audi S3 only has 67 HP more than the standard A3 (S3 292 HP). Unfortunately, you couldn't really do that with any other Audi model because the difference between other models like the A4/S4, or A5/S5 is 220 HP vs 354 HP, but with the A3 you can bridge the gap by a mere 67 HP.

    • @kevinW826
      @kevinW826 4 года назад +1

      SuperEman500 there is a garage that specializes in European cars near me in Oakville Ontario. They are an in house tuner shop who has a tune for any make or model. I’m looking at getting an A3 next year and taking it to them for a tune. Even better all of their stuff comes with an in house warranty.

    I would avoid virtual cockpit. VAG still don't offer pixel guarantee on the screen, so after some years when it has lost lots of light strength they won't change it for free. It's gunna be expensive for all those who buy digital instrument screens like this, the lifespan is shorter than you think, it starts to "die" already after a few years of usage. When you compare a new screen to one used for 4 years the difference is really big. The car manufacturers needs to address this.

      Arssh Bajpai very true. A good used buy especially if it’s a CPO. Of course you can find a top trim A3 for $25,000-$30,000 Canadian, or a komfort Quattro trim(base) for under $20,000 Canadian with both 40-50,000 kms. I found a CPO S3 for $40,000 Canadian with 10,000 kms yesterday.

    the interior is UNACCEPTABLE. PERIOD!

      and why is that exactly? minimalism isn't really an acquired taste and as long as the interior quality is up there, having the uncluttered dash is a driver's haven

      @@kevinnguyen9348 cheap plastic? you've clearly never been in an audi made after 2015. The diamond cut knobs are a delight, soft touch dash and the centre console is laid out well. some hard plastics are forgiven at that price range.
      step into a merc e class and you'll realize the difference. yes the quality is better overall but god damn there are too many buttons and screens EVERYWHERE. completely distracts you from the drive (which isn't nice to begin with). the hazard light is placed away and hidden near the passenger's!
      I'll take 'outdated' over bad design any day. Consider a mustang or merc if you're that into new things

    There's nothing wrong with a Volkswagen, but Audi is a Volkswagen. Too much money for what it is.
