At some point you have to make the decision and get something with less weight to move around, you've got to be comfortable with what you are riding, seems a good choice this time.
@@SOLOMOTOUKRichard is definitely going to be able to have a go on the CL I just hope he’s on the CB 500 X because I am too stiff jointed to ride the Z much as I would like a go lol 😝 😊
I totally agree with you on that NX500 preferred the light green CB500X I hadn’t spotted the new bike where it was parked so dizzy about getting it and it’s everything I wanted it to be 😊
I’m one of the old boys that is now a proud and happy CL500 owner! Excellent choice for a reliable all round road bike, especially nice because of its simplicity and build quality.
I downsized from a virago 750 to a rebel cmx 500 new , I have had it a from 2023 July , had to change things to make it easier for me to ride but it’s the best choice I have made in years.
I wanted one of these earlier in the year but I wasn't quite ready when it showed up at the dealership. When I was ready it was gone. typical! lol I ended up bringing home one of the lil 401 Svartpilens, in the rain. I know what Graham was in for when he got home. 😂 Have a great holiday season and congratulations on the new bike Graham!
@ I am enjoying the lil bike. I have others in the garage but I wanted a lightweight bike for everyday use in retirement. It fits the bill nicely in that role.
I recently down sized my bike and looked at the Triumph 400, the Guerilla, the Honda and the Eliminator and chose the latter. To me it's engine is that little bit more sporty with a low seat height and a low weight. As it's Japanese the build quality is excellent and to me that was a game changer over the Enfield and the Triumph.
I couldn't agree more with your comment: "I don't know of anyone who's bought a Honda 500" and regretted it. The range has got something for everyone and they are just brilliant, reliable, fun and you can rev them up and still be road legal. @TheRamblingBiker.1 NX500
I misread that and thought you were about to tell me about someone disliking it. Then I re-read 😀 I think they're a great engine. The CB500X is the only bike I've bought two of and I don't regret it either time.
I have a 2015 CB500F. The only change it needed to make it a great bike was to replace the 15 tooth front sprocket with a 16 tooth sprocket to stop it revving like crazy.

Bit late on the edit. You're getting a bad as me 😂 The newer 500's get better MPG then the older models. I've done a fair whack on the 13/14 X's I've owned. Never mind the 18 F, 19 X and 19 CBR. Besides the CBR positioning it was fine. I've recommended the 500 platform to anybody who wants a safe bet. Even had a few people buy one because of what I've done. On the logbook for the NX it says CB500X. I think if I couldn't have 500X it'd have to be the CL with the colour matched high mud guard. The 500 platform is the perfect setup with Graham and dare I say I say any older person looking down weight.
Just a tad late! 😀 In a video that I edited the other day (so expect in February!) I did get up to 100MPG out of my CB500X. They are amazing bikes and the engine seems to work well across the whole range.
You are forgiven and I don’t mind getting Mavis mucky as she is an easy bike to clean as long as you have suitable shampoo for her Satin finish and the correct Polish I thoroughly enjoyed running her in the bike is a complete success I can’t wait for the New year and some good weather to get her to 1000 miles 😊
Nice engine and a nice light motorcycle. Plenty of power, the range is probably more likely 300 km than 300 miles but it's not a problem. I dont like the high exhaust. I like to bring my bags and tent and stuff when touring but Graham is probably a mud wrestler. I stopped riding off road in 1974 and still at it.
I think the high exhaust is probably the one thing that would put me off, as it does limit the luggage capacity. It's a lovely machine though and Graham's definitely enjoying it.
I ride country roads never off road hate getting mucky I stay in hotels and when I do I take my VWGolf Tried camping misery and discomfort the bikes are just for fun and an odd day out
I'm not sure about the two mudguards. I might be tempted to remove one of them. It did mean he got the bags that he wanted for a bargain price though as part of the special edition, so worth it.
@@CalmBikerI even made the NT 1100 look small it’s the weight I struggle with as my 70th birthday arrives in January just struggling with the heavy bike was putting me off using it so not much point in owning it if you don’t enjoy it anymore

Does the 500 twin work as well in that bike too? I imagine it does but I've not had the opportunity to ride one yet.
I was so pleased he got that. You need to be confident with your bike and you can hear it in his voice.

I'm the same with my preference for Japanese machines. I've not had one let me down yet, aside from a very random fan breakage on my Yamaha XJ6F.
