    You can see how much they tightened up their performances over the years. Recruiting Alex Bent has certainly helped as well.

    If we stop comparing Matt's live singing to the album, then it sounds good, a real punk vibe

    Best trivium era. If you were around back then and a fan, you just know. Those first 4 records are like Metallica before the black album

      ive been a fan since like 2008-2009 and they peaked around 2010-2011 right up to the release of their best album in waves. vengeance was a step down and then they ceased to be trivium after matts voice perished in 2014

    • @GeorgeZimmermen

      @@tfwnoyandere I’ve been a fan since 2006 and shogun was their last great album of that era. In waves was a huge disappointment if you were waiting for it after shogun. I. would put vengeance falls over in waves. In waves best songs are better than vf’s best songs, but vf overall has more good songs. In waves has some of the worst crap they ever wrote on that record and some of the best. It’s a mixed bag

      @@tfwnoyandereI see you everywhere on Trivium content, I’m super curious to hear why you’re not huge on the stuff past VF. Not bc I necessarily disagree, but bc I’m curious to hear more specific reasons why from someone else.

    • @tfwnoyandere
      @tfwnoyandere 29 дней назад

      @@thestikbotwarrior670 they really changed after in the same year matt blew out his voice and they fired nick. even on vengeance falls i find their songwriting really dipped because as matt says they tried to box themselves in with changing it up after in waves. i would have preferred they take in more of a shattering the skies above direction than the weird quasi power metal voice of the title track of vf. i love some of the songs and a lot of the ideas on vengeance, and i still like some of the songs and ideas on subsequent albums (not including wtdms where only the intro and title track are remotely listenable). its just because shogun and then especially in waves was so incredible that i feel every album since has been a significant step downhill (i had especially high hopes for a more old school dark harmonic minor filled black-death influenced sound leading up to wtdms because of shit matt was playing on stream, so sorely was i disappointed with the most cookie cutter tame safe unambitious uninspired release of their career). the more you love something the more you hate to see it deteriorate. i only hate on trivium because i know how could they could be if they'd only make a few changes to their approach to songwriting. phalanx 2007 version is probably tied with chaos reigns for my favourite trivium song and by extension favourite song of all time, but as much as itcotd wasn't anywhere near as bad as wtdms, it's still marred by the inferior change to the chorus vocal and the god awful corny orchestral shit. it's possible the next trivium album will be ok next april, but i don't have high hopes, i haven't had high hopes since wtdms came out. haha i remember when in waves came out. anyway, hopefully the next album will have one or two good songs, like crisis and phalanx. maybe they'll even bust out an old cut track they wrote for shogun or in waves or vengeance
