Hello... I have a question... I'm trying to recover data from an old 3.5 SATA drive. The mother board of that PC is dead, so we got a new PC a DELL OptiPlex... Basically, I got a USB adapter for this old SATA drive, and I got some files out of it but things like the Desktop folder is no where to be seen... Someone redirected me to the reddit post and I followed through here... now... I read everything but I'm kind of lost with the steps. I already have both flash drive, the bootable one and the one I'm going to use to clone all the files in... There is a "boot" step, but I fear that would reset/delete etc. the current OptiPlex we are using right now. I figured that de USB mode is the one I need to implement, but... then.. 1) Do I have to reboot the PC from USB? Is it safe for the actual state of the files and windows? 2)What are the steps for an externally connected SATA drive? I'm sure that you might already cover all that but I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the new information. Thank you
Hello… I’m using this set up for a SATA 3.5 plugged with an usb adapter and when I’m selecting the destination->Drive, it gives me this IO error message. It says the IOCTL is inappropriate for device… I can’t either find how to connect the terminal to the software to monitor what’s happening. Any thoughts? Ty
