HDDSuperClone Virtual Disk Improve Stability DMDE 2020 05 05
Hello… I’m using this set up for a SATA 3.5 plugged with an usb adapter and when I’m selecting the destination->Drive, it gives me this IO error message. It says the IOCTL is inappropriate for device… I can’t either find how to connect the terminal to the software to monitor what’s happening. Any thoughts? Ty
Hello... I have a question... I'm trying to recover data from an old 3.5 SATA drive. The mother board of that PC is dead, so we got a new PC a DELL OptiPlex... Basically, I got a USB adapter for this old SATA drive, and I got some files out of it but things like the Desktop folder is no where to be seen... Someone redirected me to the reddit post and I followed through here... now... I read everything but I'm kind of lost with the steps. I already have both flash drive, the bootable one and the one I'm going to use to clone all the files in... There is a "boot" step, but I fear that would reset/delete etc. the current OptiPlex we are using right now. I figured that de USB mode is the one I need to implement, but... then.. 1) Do I have to reboot the PC from USB? Is it safe for the actual state of the files and windows? 2)What are the steps for an externally connected SATA drive? I'm sure that you might already cover all that but I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the new information. Thank you
After disabling the drive on boot i cannot select souce drive on hddsuperclone. It sez "failed to perform identify device command" when clicking ok it sez "Error Selecting Source" and the Terminal sez "identify failed after hard reset" Could you please help me on this😢. Well i use ventoy btw

How do i perform this on live cd
thanks. its the only software that managed to clone a heavily bad sectored hdd. (all windows based software failed) i badly needed the outlook pst file with hundred of contacts but it would always gets stuck at 79% when copying. after cloning to a good hdd i managed to repair the file, and import it to a new outlook :)
Hello, thanks for this amazing cloning tool. However, I tried to use it unfortunately the "Slow Driver" check bot and the beneath "Virtual Modes" are grayed out and thus I'm not able to use them. can you please advice?
Maybe downlaod the latest hddlivecd
Is this an image file whose size is equal to the size of the source file? Also why was I forced to unmount my drive first?
Will this process work on a dying HDD drive? Existing HDD is taking a lot of time just to recognise on my windows PC, will eventually shows the file. Takes a lot of time just to read a 2MB jpg file.
Thank you very much for this great tool. And for sharing all your effort for free. thanks very much!!!!!!
God bless Scott Dwyer for creating this phenomenal Software and making it open source. Managed to rescue ~5 TB of Data from an HDD
Hey mate! Just wanted to thank you for this unreal software / solution, I’ve spent a while trying to find a way to contact you just to say thanks & see if there is anyway I can return the favour. Really can’t thank you enough mate
can u clone the superclone .img file directly to a new ssd and what program could read the .img file for random file copying? dmde probably only has a "recover" button with sh1t ton of options and not a simple "copy-paste" button at all ?
0:37 - can i use the generic source file option to clone/restore my previously made .bin file to a new (ssd) drive or does it just accept somekind of generic linux folder/block ? and is there any tool that could read all of the files from the .bin file to copy them as a backup?
I cant even open the fucking program. Fuck linux is an archaic pos
how to extract scan image.dd
So I tried to the exact steps of the video with the version used in the video(xubuntu-18.04.5-desktop-hddlive.2022_02_12.x64.1.5G.iso is in the Old Version folder now). I also tried multiple versions and none of them worked. My PC just will not boot on the USB. So I tried Balena Etcher instead and when I open any of the ISO I downloaded, Balena pops the message "It looks like this is not a bootable image. The image does not appear to contain a partition table, and might not be recognized or bootable by your device". Any advice?
Same Problem here, what helped me fix this was using Rufus with standard settings except making sure that "0" is set at persistent storage and not 1024 like in 3:11.
I've more heard of Rufus to burn the ISO on a USB flash drive if anyone wants to check this option out too
hes a davie fan too
Dear HDD superclone creator, your tool is really a piece of art, i really thank you for making it available to general public, is there a way to access the schematcis on some of this relays, at least the basic one to work with pesky mechanical drives? THank you in advance, Regards
Hope ufs can working 😢

I just found out that windows 10 has an option to run a Linux subsystem, so is it possible to run HDDsuperclone via the Ubuntu subsystem app instead of creating the bootable HDDliveCD usb? I am trying to clone the HDD that I replaced with a new SSD in my laptop, via the SATA USB adapter. Ive never used a Linux OS or cloned a drive before but am learning, slowly but surely :) you've earned a subscriber in me!
NO!!! Using Windows completely defeats the purpose of using Linux for the physical drive access. Windows will thrash the drive to death if it is failing.
@@hddsuperclone1364 thank you so much! I will use the live cd instead
I'm getting a "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drive that don't contain an operating system" when I tried booting from a USB. Tweaked the BIOS. Did I miss anything? Need help, thanks
Superclone is the only software which could recognise the drive properly (seems to be a corrupted partition). (DMDE found the files too but their purchase process for the full version is shady as hell and I wasn't happy buying it.) Running the livecd at the moment. I set it to clone to an image file on an external drive. Just wondering what type of image file it's creating so I can prep for when it's finished? Also, isn't this just cloning a screwed partition and I'm going to end up with a backup of a screwed partition? I'm failing to see how it's going to give me the files? Also, does it backup block by block? Eg, it's a 1tb drive with only 300gb of data, will the image created be 1tb or 300gb? (If the former then I need to delete some shit from the ext drive ASAP!) Really hope this works 🤞
This happens, Failed to perform identify device command
The latest ver of UnetBootin and super clone hang when its coping file 261 from the image to the USB. Have you tried this lately ?
File 261 is 1.3GB in size and takes several minutes or longer to write to a flash drive, the slower the flash drive the longer it will take. You need to wait for it to complete.
How can this be done on Mac? How do you rescue files using this method?
I do not have a Mac so I a,m unable to provide exact instructions for creating the live CD/USB. As for rescuing files, HDDSuperClone is first and foremost a disk cloning/imaging tool. There are other videos on this channel that demonstrate how to use it.
@@hddsuperclone1364 ok, thanks
@@hddsuperclone1364 Which video, specifically? I am having an emergency with a failing hard drive that is still somehow working.
1. If this is an emergency, then you really need to seek professional data recovery. 2. If the data is really important and you don’t want to lose it, seek professional data recovery. 3. If the data is important and you don’t need it immediately and can’t afford it now but could in the future, put the drive in a safe place and wait until you can afford professional recovery. 4. If you insist on DIY then here are links to the videos to get started. ruclips.net/video/1DLsh4sqpP0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/_xSXXW42Ouw/видео.html 5. If it is an emergency, refer to number 1. 6. I cannot help you any more with this. You need to help yourself with the information available.

You are doing a really good job. Keep it up!
I like these types of video :) 6 likes and no comment needed :)
what about Seagate hdd slow response?
Do you think an USB adapter would work better than a SATA one, or it doesn't matter? Thanks
The last time I checked there is no such thing as a NVMe to SATA adapter. If someone ever makes one, it could possibly be better than a NVME to USB adapter.
@@hddsuperclone1364 i see, that's what I was thinking. Thank you.
Hi there, ist there any option to stop empty sectors? I have wd passport 5tb. Was brand new so I copy half full of data. Now the reading is extremely slow. Have no bad sectors and sound normal. I can only connect via USB. I make a copy disk to image. Is there a way to copy only data sectors? Remaining time is 20 day and copy with 2275KBs. Thx for help.
You need a usb hub using uhubctl an ddrescue & ddrescueview
will it erase all data from the destination drive even i choice image file ? i mean i have drive of 500 gb dead one and want to recover it to a 4 tb but it have data on it will it erase all the date on the drive if i choice image file ?
If you choose an image file, then the image file is the destination, and not a physical drive. That is the same with any basic tool. It will not overwrite the destination drive, only the space available for the image file.
Ever figure out what's causing it?
No, and it is not up to me to fix it. It is something with how UFS Explorer works. It will not likely get fixed unless the makers of UFS Explorer want the integration to work.
But what is the issue? One disk starts being cloned into a file and a virtual disk device and later one app reads zero out of the sdv or doesnt read anything (as we cannot tell what UFS explorer thinks?) I can suggest some issues - like the UFSexplorer instead of reading from start also tries to read the end of a disk, like some gpt copy or other super copies, or it reaches out of the current scope of a disk? In windows it could be another assumption that UFSexp tries to open a file in RW mode whereas you cannot do it in windows if the file is already in write mode opened in another app but you can easily do it in linux OS. It also can fail looking for some special /dev/sdv disk-like parameters eg. size of the disk, sector size and so on and fails to do it on a virtual kernel drive and shows all zeroes due to some programming error. BTW what is UFSexplorer for? Like listing any FS structures? UFS afair is a Deeveedee filesystem.
It's unclear from this video what are values of defect map. The software aborts partition detection immediately after it detects first defect block. In this case the software "doesn't know" that defect is emulated by a third-party software. The reason for this should be obvious. There were no "real" requests to adopt the software to be used with HDDSuperClone so there are no any special workarounds to support defects emulation. Linux software version doesn't have any reason to open drive for "write", even for SCSI access (unlike Windows, that requires "write" mode to enable SCSI pass-through). Readign of disk tails is required to support GPT (main copy is located at end of disk) and to support different RAID metadata.
thanks for the explanation and the tools keep a good work sir!
Thanks alot i was looking for a video tutorial on imaging a hard drive with this tool!
good work
hi sir that relay needs a 12 volts power supply? or directly connected to 220 volts AC? kindly give us clarification because it was not mention here how that relay will power.
The relay information can be found here: www.sdcomputingservice.com/hddsuperclone/usb-relay "Note that the 2 relay board is powered by USB. The 4 relay board requires a 12v supply for operation."
@@hddsuperclone1364 Thank you sir I understand now
I've had some excellent results using DMDE with HDDSuperClone Pro..
Nice improvements to the Smart and Analyse functions..
Excellent Update!! ..Hope you will add Firmware Repair Tool to the Pro' version in the future Updates.
Thanks. But firmware repair tools are not planned. If you knew how complicated that can be, then you would understand how much more you should appreciate the pro tools that are capable of such firmware repairs, and also the pros that can do it without tools.
@@hddsuperclone1364 Thanks, is HDDSuperClone Pro and Sediv Repair tool good enough for all round data recovery without any hardware tools?
Well, Subscribed ,We need to work together to make this even better
For the analyze feature I am currently working on providing a percentage chance of the following three major issues: Bad or weak head. Slow responding firmware issue. Partial access issue.
This works really well. Took me a while to set the relay up but with a bit of help with the developer I've got it working fine on drives that need a hard reset..
