Hello. Yes. This is a great little gem and many people forget it's there. Glad this video was helpful. Believe it or not, I keep discovering stuff all the time! 😁
Thank you very much for this. I realise that you will have done this many times before, but for me it was like magic when the alpha was locked and suddenly the texture photo just was restricted to the lines of the design! I had a lot of fun making my own simple drawing first and applying this tutorial to it.
That was fun! I did run into a problem when trying to make the colour layer. It wouldn't let me add colour so after googling I found I had to change my image from grayscale (I tried 2 separate images and had to do that to both). Is this common? I enjoy your tutorials. Keep them coming!
Hello Karen. I am glad you enjoyed the tutorial. About your problem... Sometimes, when you get a PNG from someone else or from some websites like Pixabay into Krita the color wheel suddenly gets into a greyscale. I truely have no idea why. I am not a computer expert. 🙃This happened to me years ago. I cannot remember how I went around it, but I had to fix that as well. I think , rather to open the file directly into Krita, I created a brand new document first, then used the function import/export to bring the image to my document... Again, that happen a while ago, so please forgive my bad memory. I can't exactly remember how I did it. Anyway, thank you so much for pointing this out. Maybe your comment is going to help a lot of people. Have a great day and thanks for watching.
Bonjour Corrine! direct followed the link to your video from krita-artists, thanks to you and the forum! Please, what type of search did you do for a such nice "engraved" png ? I mean in terms of key words in your pixabay search ? Thanks for the answer if you've time, sinon, pas grave: again, it was a great tutorial 💠
Bonjour Carinea. I did not search for an engraved PNG. If you look a the beginning of the video, you will see that the image I got from Pixabay is only a vector image that I downloaded as a PNG. Let me tell you how do it as well. Go to Pixabay. In the search bar, on the side, you can choose what type of search you want to do. You can search a PICTURE, or a VECTOR, or an ILLUSTRATIONS, or MUSIC, videos, etc... Choose VECTOR. Now, type anything you want. Maybe type LION FACE. Pixabay will show you all the vector images of a lion's face. When you are ready to download the picture, do not choose to download the picture as an SVG (vector). Choose the PNG instead. They usually offer three different sizes. Whichever size will work. I hope this helps you.
@@BladeandQuill Sure it helps! Now, with a nice vector (like the one you've selected here) I can try to work with layers styles in Krita. Many many thanks for your answer! See you soon here and on the krita-artists forum I highly recommend for all. Corrine, have a very good day 💠
Could you plz tell us the image location you downloaded? My .png file is not doing what you are showing... Or some special attribute of the .png file? I am a bit lost. TY!
Hello Yong Choo. Go to pixabay.com/vectors/lion-tiger-symbol-tattoo-6620633/ Make sure to download the image as a PNG format. The size doesn't matter. You can choose to download the image as a 640 × 640, 1280 x 1280, or 1920 x 1920. I downloaded mine as a 1920 x 1920. Open Krita. Choose NEW FILE. Choose the PNG image you downloaded. It will open with a white background. No worries. You can remove the white background. Go to FILTERS. Choose COLORS and select COLOR TO ALPHA. A window will open. Just click OK. Your background is gone. You can start working on the image. I hope this helped. Have a wonderful weekend.
I never knew layer styles existed until today, this is an amazing discovery for me!
