Private eye has uncovered some shady dealings. Mayor Ben Houchen is gonna be in serious trouble.
What drives him is how much he can line his and his mates pockets.
He failed to say the Tories contributed to the closure 6 years ago!!
Unbelievable Hypocrisy.
Wow to hear someone so full of positivity . Well done Mayor Houchen .
Read Richard Brooks report in Private Eye …. Land was sold for ONE POUND (£1) per ACRE .
Wasn't that because it's so polluted? Anyone who buys it's would have a big unknown cost to clean it up
Why is his airport such a disaster, its loosing a fortune, every year, it can never break even, it only has around 8 destinations, and no prospects
Strangely the EU did try free ports, but they were considers to be a waist of time, as inport & export tax does have to be payed at some point & any manufacturer will get away with paying even LESS tax than they do now, which will upset any other country the products are being shipped to, so tariffs will get higher. So a loose loose for the UK
Lol. Freeport’s was how the British empire got started . We are an island. We invented maritime trade.
Do regular updates on the way this develops, once every 6 months would be great. Best of luck.
Amazing professional talent. Ben Houchen on the other hand…
The carbon capture program is costing 4 billion pounds to bury 10million tonnes of carbon
I have a boiler design which needs 500k funding which will eliminate 10million tonnes of carbon
It will never happen
is your glass half empty ?
Which part? As watching it now most of this has happened
Does a Freeport mean this site is not actually part of the UK for Tax reasons. Will tax be applied to finished products that move from the Freeport into the Actual UK, obviously with the exception of NI
*Let's get Brexit Done*
*Little Britain for local Employment*

A free port for Chinese goods :)
Like we and every country in the Western world didn't already have lots of Chinese goods? We didn't mind China before Covid-19 came along..
Let's see whether "the world's biggest investors" will be interested in the world's biggest attempt at political distraction.
For goodness sake let's wait and see, it seems to me that at least it's onward and upward for Teesside and the best of luck to 'one' of the best mayors in country. 👍
To pay for all of this "levelling up" requires mass amounts of spending of money the country does not have. Don't forget the Covid debt has to be paid back. The Treasury have said "levelling up" requires a lot of borrowing, which will push up inflation considerably and leave the gov with little choice but to raise taxes. The books have to be balanced, don't want another recession
“Best mayor…” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Foxconn investment in Wisconsin is what you get when politicians try to create jobs.
