Thing is you used to not be a Digimon Fan for the Games…it solely was for the Story in the Anime.
Now, after Digimon Story Cybersleuth, the quality in games has gotten better. Honestly, almost every complaint she had with Digimon World Dawn is fixed in Cybersleuth. The only things are there are still mazes (but you have a map) & eventually you gain the ability to repel encounter rates. Not to mention there are still side quests but they reduced how many were required to move the story along. Then the game had a sequel which was the same thing with more Digimon.
Digimon World: Next Order is also good but it definitely has that mix of V-Pet & RPG so if you’re not liking the V-Pet Mechanic, you might not like it.
Digimon Survive is a lot like those Telltale Games. The story is good.
the old Digimon Game in NDS is quite unbalance, but the game like Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Hacker's Memory, next order.... is very good, you should check it
Well, Cyber Sleuth/Hacker's Memory, at least. For some reason, with the Next Order game, they decided to add elements of the V-Pet in there, such as dealing with your partner's hunger, fatigue.....and poop. Digimon also Digivolve whenever a certain amount of time has passed. You also can't manually choose which Digimon they Digivolve to. You basically have to get the stats all in the right place before the time limit to get the specific Digimon evolution you want. They also made it so eventually your Digimon will die and become Digi-eggs periodically. I... really can't recommend that game as somebody's first Digimon game. It requires way too much micromanaging, and what's worse, the game makes you play on its time, not yours.
Cyber Sleuth/Hacker's Memory also has some stat management for Digimon in it as well, but once you understand it, it's very simple to grind them to where you want them to be, and as a bonus, you feel more attached to those Digimon than you would probably feel with Pokemon.

@@DiabeticDivine Yes, that's how Digimon World games function, with only a few exceptions. Digimon World DS, Dawn, and Dusk are actually Story games, not World games. They were misnamed in the West to fit with the titles that had been released in the West, but they're a different style of game entirely. There are a couple very early World games that don't play the same as Next Order, but this is due to them being early titles while they were experimenting with Gameplay. Digimon World 2, and 3 being such examples.
Most World games play exactly like Next Order because that IS the style of game. They're based more on the Tamagotchi style v-pets. You take care of a digimon, raise them, train them, and eventually they die and their soul is moved into a new egg to train all over again.
Also the further you get into Next Order, the more you actually can control the kind of digimon you get. You will eventually gain the ability to close off certain evolution paths to avoid accidental evolutions, and you will over time unlock knowledge on how to get certain evolutions.
It's understandable that the style of game may not be for you, but I personally prefer those style of Digimon games. I think they're really fun, I like v-pet mechanics, and I think it's absolutely bonkers and hilarious that you can take a giant muscled lion man to the toilet.

I played this game a lot when I was little and remember _really_ enjoying it. Guess I got lucky with the mazes. Either that or I was just a lot more patient as a small child.
I'm glad people don't seem to be mad at Jaiden's video....

The Digimon fandom is so splintered but also held together that it'd take a lot to upset a large chunk of them over anything. Trust me, we know we are a mess.
She was right about most Digimon games being bad, that’s generally agreed upon. I am completely baffled that she never figured out how to use the farm or scan Digimon or dedigivolve, though.
I had played many of the older Digimon games and Dusk was the first Digimon game I actually enjoyed that wasn’t a flash game of the “primitive ancestor to Angry Birds” genre (you sent Patamon over a gap or something).
I do think that Dusk had a better tutorial and story, though, but maybe she skipped through the tutorial. I still didn’t manage to beat the game or anything, but I liked managing my farms even if I got lost in what I thought was part of the game but was actually a stupid randomly appearing bonus area.

I’m a huge digimon fan and think it’s better than pokemon but like what sad sop is gonna be mad at someone’s opinion? I may joke and fake being mad to troll but like people that get mad at someone’s opinion are just sad sad people. Only time opinions should matter if it’s actually hurting someone or if it’s actually bad.

They don’t all suck but digimon games are directionless as a franchise it feels so they never really ever find and perfect a formula …every game is a coin toss between being good or janky 😅
We're far past the point where the Digimon games can be considered directionless as a whole. It is an anthology series more focused on having Digimon as a concept applied to different settings, rather than a series trying to find and "perfect" a formula.
Digimon is not a game IP like pokemon, it is V-pet line, that later got games, so every game is a spin-off, byt u still has some lines, like Digimon World (not conting DS it was just a bad choice for adapting the name), Digimon Story (remember the Digimon World games from the DS?)

Digimon World Dawn and Dusk were made after Digimon World DS. While there are some new Digimon shown in both versions...I'm willing to bet World DS had more gameplay care put into it than Dawn and Dusk.
Also the follow-up, Lost Evolution, that didn't have an official english release, is much better as well.
The only reason that I played Story Sunburst was because it had Shine Greymon while the original Story didn't have the Ultimate Levels of Savers, except Rosemon, but I don't like Adventure at all.
@@Cyril86 there's an english patch now and I quite like lost evolution! It's also kinda mazey and annoying, but the story has been interesting so far.

honestly when I played ScarVi I didn’t run into that many glitches, and the ones I did find were pretty minor. I also feel like if I did encounter anything major I would’ve just enjoyed it even more, I mean from what I’ve seen none of them were actually game-breaking lol
the Digimon games unfortunately did not have that "perfect formula" like Pokémon that just worked and continued to carry the series through. There all pretty different and the community has their own favorites and acknowledge that they all have flaws and some like specific games better than others. They all have their own issues, and weirdness that can really throw you off of Digimon and its really important to look into these games to make sure THATS THE ONE you want to play.
cybersuelth is recommended for newcomers as its easy to get into and it explains the mechanics really well, its a lot more like Pokémon and does have a bit more focus on story instead. however if your not interested in the games the anime's are great too.
Well, they aren't all *that* different. Overall, sure, but at this point most people are comparing "Digimon games" in general to mostly the mainline Pokemon games.
Besides, while it was pretty bad back in the day with how different the games were, they did get more consistent later. The Story games largely all played the same, with Cyber Sleuth being the first real departure, the last two Digital WOrld games followed in the footsteps of the original DW as well, unlike the other World games.
1:24 There's a difference between _best_ Pokémon game, and best Pokémon game _for beginners._ One game might be someone's favorite, but it might be too difficult for new players
I personally think XY is the best for beginners. Short, holds your hand a lot, and it has 3D models which help people who don't have enough attention span to constantly imagine what sprites are intended to look like

so personally i dont think she is saying that they such but more that there is no set formula to what a digimon game is as they constantly try to do something different with each game unless the game is set in the same series.
unlike pokemon where its a set formula on how to play and you can brute force it, which u cant do in digimon games.
it more a case of, as new players its really really hard to get into the games as there is no... structure to enter into, its entirely dependant on what u like.
love story and rpg's? then cyber slueth/hackers memory might be ur jam
like tactical rpg's and visiual novels? then survivor might be a good place to start
another thing is that digimon games are geared to more eastern audiance which means you dont get guided as much in games and they are "generally" harder to play and wont give u much in the way of hints to help you out, its very much - well.... figure it out for yourself.... (i got this info from my friend who is from main land china)
if your gona play digimon game think about what game types you like and research the ones that feel pique your interest the most. if you dont like slow story or grinding you may a lot of them not your style as a fair few of eastern games are story based as that just the popular genre there, even the mobile games that are most popular there are visual novels, while in the west we tend to want the action here and now. in a way the way western games are made, is to facilitate a sense of movement and progression which kinda conditions you to not have the patience for a game that is slower and more intimate... making it almost seem boring, which i can promise they arent, its just the focus of the devopement is in the story and interactions in between combat.
I recommend the Cybersleuth games, if you are looking for a more RPG oriented digimon story, while the Next World games are basically what OG digimon is RPG but with Tamagochi elements....and time limits
Those are the only 2 game series of Digimon I see as good, not great, good games.
What I found funny is that everyone told her to play Cybersleuth, because it is the closest one to pokemon, and she didn't because it had a deeper story than Pokemon

The problem is not 'the best pokemon/digimon game in the start of the video.
Teh problem as "a good starting point" and in pokemon ALL MAIN GAMES are good to start because they literally explain what pokemon is and hold your hand. That's a lil diferent to the spin offs like mystery dungeon or conquest or ranger games so yeah. Digimon don't have the same luxury of 10 generations of good STARTING POINTS of games

I actually played the Dusk versions of this...owned it too. Traded it in later for a new game a couple years later. I will say the maps...oh lord the maps...I'm a veteran gamer..been playing since I was like...6 and got an NES...all I know is I have no memories before opening that NES from it's wrapping paper...been gaming ever since and I'm in my mid-late 30s...and the maps in this game are bonkers confusing....also if you don't feel like grinding the ever loving crap for XP...cheating with a Game Genie/Game Shark/Cheat Device in general....is damn near a requirement..especially if you are trying to fill out the encyclopedia of Digimon. The artwork and pixel art are awesome...but again..the MAPS ARE STUPID CONFUSING.
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth/Hackers memory are two realy good games. Great story and great gameplay.
I remember this one girl who had a weird vendetta against Pokémon for some reason. One time as I was looking at Pokémon she snobbishly said, "Digimon's better," and as a response I was like, "Cool. I like both." The look on her face was like 😯 as if it never occurred to her people can like both.
World 2 is okay, kinda grindy, 4 requires multiple playthrough to get access to good Digimon.
I blame Jaider for picking one of the worst digimon games ever released xD
All digimon games post 2010 are quite decent, but before that, only the original digimon world can be considered a competent game.
No. Digimon world DS aka the first story game is actually quite good, a lot better than dusk. Dusk was a rushed game. Digimon world 2003 is also good, though not perfect, Digimon rumble arena is decent, Digimon rumble arena 2 is great, Digimon battle Spirit 2 is really good...
@@kanchomerocks12 I feel like ds and dawn/dusk are pretty interchangeable in terms of gameplay, the amount of grinding, as well as the countless mazes. I don't think any of Jaiden's issues would have been remedied from playing that game instead of dawn. Granted I grew up on these games so nostalgia dictates I love them all, but I can completely agree with her assessment and I don't think DS would have changed that.
Digimon world 2003 I also like but man that's such a slow grindy game too. less mazelike though, plus they let me use koemon/monmon so that makes up for a lot.
I love Digimon World Re:digitized De:coded (mouthful) but had to get an english patch beacause it was never released outside of Japan. Same with Digimon Story Lost Evolution which I enjoyed quite a bit as well even if it's just as mazy as the other ds games.
I adored Next Order though, as well as Cyber Sleuth/Hacker's memory. It took a bit to come around to Digimon Survive because I didn't know it was a visual novel, but once I got into it it's become a huge fave.

Wrong! First of all, DS actually goes out of its way to introduce the player to the world of digimon, which is a big issue she mentions. Also, it doesn't force you to complete completely unrelated side quests to complete the story, making the pacing far... Far better. Yes, the mazes would still be a problem, but that's it. The grinding isn't nearly as bad, except for at the end. Hell, I dare even say she's partially to blame for her misery with how she approached Dawn. I'm not gonna say the game doesn't have issues, but it has strengths too. Strengths she seemingly never experienced because she rushed through the whole thing and didn't bother learning how to play. This isn't even me speculating, in her video she openly admits to avoiding the tutorials and in a comment for her playthrough she admits that she used the same team the entire time because she didn't know how to add Digimon to her team.

You might be right about the quests, I honestly don't remember how the game tackled the side quests because I personally enjoyed doing the side quests in all the games and so did them all even if they weren't required.
I do think parts of her issues are chalked up to inexperience with the style of games. Maybe DS explained adding new mons to your party, I honestly don't remember that. Dawn and Dusk were my first games on the DS and I never personally had trouble knowing how to scan and get new digimon so idk about that lol
I do still think the games are pretty interchangeable, but it could just be due to how I play them.
@@KalinTheZola there are other things that just make DS play better, and yes that includes the grinding. For example, in dawn/dusk, you get set back to level 1 whenever you evolve or degenerate. In DS that's not the case, meaning you don't have to grind to degenerate, you can do it right away.
Now the thing is she just chose the wrong game. I actually dropped Pokémon a few years back but I really got into Digimon games lately.
I've been a fan of both growing up but I've dropped Pokemon for the most part. It's become way too repetitive for my tastes and the new things they've added don't really appeal to me. I'm hoping a new game will actually catch my attention but I'm not holding my breath.
Digimon though.. I could play even some of the most annoying games and still find some enjoyment from them.

@@calebgoodman3028 Took me a bit to get into Digimon Survive just because I avoided the marketing and didn't realize it was a visual novel, but once I got past that it ended up being one of my favorites. I hope they make more games in that style, though it would be nice if they made it more half vn and half tactics rather than 2/3rd to 1/3rd

@@calebgoodman3028 I'll admit I was a bit miffed at first just because the game was so expensive and I expected either World or Story style gameplay, but once I realized the story was actually really good, I found myself loving it. I'm in the minority apparently who thinks CS's story is mid and only good as far as digimon game stories are concerned so I didn't have high expectations on a digimon vn.
Digimon Adventure on PSP is a video game recreation of the first season and is awesome.
Also, been playing Survive lately and I love the hell out of it. A fusion of a VN with Fire Emblem battle mechanics is great and I've never even played Fire Emblem

I know the title is clickbait but it's just plain wrong and the people who she sought advice from were also wrong.
The issue with digimon games aren't that they are bad but that they are all different. So fans of each game aren't necessarily fans of the other games that digimon has. This is a major reason why Digimon fell out of favor for Pokemon, who stuck to a formula and became known for it.
Unfortunately Jaiden made the mistake of playing Digimon World Dawn when it's a dungeon crawler just like Digimon World 2. If she wasn't gonna play Cyber Sleuth then she should have went with 3 or New Order. They are all great games but are just different.

I still don't get why Jaiden chose to play Story Sunburst, I would even recommend to play World Next 0rder which is the worst of the World games, but is the accessible. Like from all the Digimon Story games are easily to get in, but of all the Story, Sunburst was the worst of the DS Story games.
I just hope that she is capable to play Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth, because it does everything good in everything on the Digimon Story games.

I've only played one digimon game, wich was Hackers memory, and i can say it was way better than this, i enjoyed it
i tried playing digimon dawn and dusk, and i absolutely lost my mind with never ending encounters, very very difficult leveling system and mazes (i just hate mazes in general). i hear people either recommend cyber sleuth or the most recent one digimon survive ( a more novel like storyline and strategy movements while touvhing on the darker side and horror aspects of digimon). im a digimon fan and i can't defend that game. i would recommend digimon rearise but its already shutdown

guess dedingernrating is something she didn't do or use that with dna digivolving this one was rough for her for me I enjoyed it the only other digimon games I played bit was dw4 its trash tier guanlet but stronger forms require doing painful side quests the other was rumble arena 2 ... cyberslueth/hackers is enjoyable all around .. next order complete is usually refer to if you wanna experience dw1 but not have the insane problems with needing a guide for dw1 its dw1 but better with qol

Honestly games aren't where the Digimon franchise shines. The animes are a lot of what makes the series great. Mainly because they actually have more of a story that has a true ending. Compared to how most of the Pokémon anime ran. For 30 years. The characters are defined and have true arcs, and there are far greater stakes to the battles themselves. Also, Digimon have a bit more personality and intelligence compared to most Pokémon.

Also, if you want to try a Digimon game, I definetly recommend Cybersleuth, it's pretty easy to understand, dungeons are pretty lineal, you even get skills to reduce encounter rate, and in general it's pretty awesome.
And you sounded excited when she said Digimon World 1 was like a tamagotchi game, but honestly I would recommend Digimon World: Next Order (it's on vita, and it's coming out soon on PC, switch and idk about other consoles)
