Does anyone remember all the trades lined up for the unemployment back in the '80's...?

One of my brother's female friends was a single mother, and a Bricklayer. She enjoyed the wages she was getting back in the day. I hear that the wage is not so good now days.

It would be great to teach the youngers, so that they've skills for life. It is always great to have a skill that you lean on.
As skilled people is seen as pillows of society. A great educational video, keep up the great works and keep being a beacon of light to the youngers.
    Great blessings to all involve.
God bless you all always with long life good health and prosperity.

The trouble is with trades is that you never see any jobs with payed holidays it's a very insecure industry, the money can be good but it's a week here or a month there. You never see any big construction companies offering training leading to secure jobs.

Great idea, but sticking 2 lads with learning difficulties and a girl who wants to be a teacher on a TV program is hardly reflective of the youth of today. Hard enough getting them to stay in college or pick a course they can tune in to. No point lying to them that this is worth getting into. Another example of training amping people up that the reality is going to be glorious.
I didn't know what I wanted to do, went on to become a tree surgeon through college. Worked 6 days a week, in all weather's and got paid sod all. After a number of years where I could barely afford rent, a car and could never dream of owning a house, I found numerous other employers offering lesser skilled or more specific repetitive work simply offering more security and money. Trades do not offer a great wage anymore, no job security or holidays. The industry we want these kids to go into needs to change vastly first because it does not look after you like so many other careers do at least a bit.

Staw buildings are the future, can be built quicker and its gentler on the planet, the builders and occupants. How do we wake up homebuilders and people promoting this without thinking it through. Our planets important as well as having a trade, we can change its ok.

All the cheap Eastern European tradesmen killed the building industry in this country for the British trades. That’s why we’re short of labour!
