Looking back at it, props to EVO for taking a chance and making a flagship game 2v2. It was some of the most entertaining to watch.

If Capcom gets to work on a Street Fighter X Tekken 2 and give Street Fighter X Tekken 2 the Capcom ID/QR code treatment, then I'm not buying the game. I don't know what Capcom were thinking back when they created Capcom ID for Street Fighter 6 and onward.

You know, the hate this game got was really unwarranted. So what if there were gems? It's a great fighter with deep mechanics and a huge amount of viable characters and teams that all play different. It deserved better than it got. The 2vs2 is especially hype and I wish we could bring it back in another game.

Man Idc what people say I played the shit outta this game and I loved it the combos and gameplay was so sick and fluid. The gems are the on’y downside for me. I hope they make another tag team 2D fighter like that wether it be only street fighter or street fighter vs snk or whatever. Shit was mad fun.

Players choosing to play only in the Training stage because the other ones cause lag... That's how Capcom did their games for the past few years...

All the stages had insane lag exept training stage. pretty boring only playing one stage for serious matches. thats why when they ported poison , hugo, and stages to SSF4 they dumbed down the stages so they were wayyyy more playable online
This game will always have a special little place in my heart. It's not without its flaws (definitely the pre-2013 versions) but in the end it turned into a crazy and fun game.
Wish the negativity bandwagon didn't barrel down and ran over this game the way it did, we could have had many more hype moments. Definitely wish the 2v2 format stuck around a little longer.

I don't like the gems thing in this game at all. But the game itself, I think is quite better than SFV. I like that they're playing with no gems. True skill and no shannenigans.

The gem system in this game was its greatest down fall. Capcom’s greed definitely showed in this title. It made the game pay to win with exclusive gems you could only buy with money.
ARed0cean you couldn’t use them in competitive scenes so people that used overpowered gems didn’t get far
The criticism of the "gem system" is exclusively made by the scrubs of the FGC lmao. As the comment above pointed out, the gem system was NOT abused in the competitive scene.
Capcom just took advantage of the scrub community that would buy those gems lol 😆

probably because the tekken characters play like streetfighter characters instead of tekken characters can you blame them? tekken7 did it right with akuma allowing him to play as he should like a streetfighter character.

I have to say this game was fun!! I know a lot of people give a s***but if you had friends or just lie to me too it was fun!! And I love the mechanic of the competition being 2 on 2. So that means you and your partner had to be in sync I just feel like the mechanics could have been done a little better and executed better. Competitive was not great but for fun Factor definitely up there
Regardless of the backlash this game got, it was some of the most fun I had playing a fighter.

Ive always heard bad things about this game, and while im not a big fan of SF4's engine in general, this game looks hype af. Why was it bad?
Tekken 3 Yoshimitsu is one of the most beast looking and sounding fighting game characters...period.
Jeff. It wasn't bad. Ppl hated it for the gem system and the DLC. The actual gameplay was insanely solid and it's a real shame it died.
Jerry Also the top players from Marvel and Street Fighter talked really bad about the game and the community bandwagoned their opinions.
Players thought the game was bland, did not look fun, did not like that rounds ended when one person died (too used to the MVC series I take it; the feature in SFXT came from the Tekken Tag series), complained about Pandora mode when they barely explored it, and they complained about timeouts.
Also this game was more lenient on link combos and has ground bounces, so I guess that since this game may have felt like an easier SF4 players may not have liked it. Also Eventhubs trashed the game a ton too which is where a lot of the FGC gets their information.
By the time the 2012 update arrived which fixed Pandora mode by increasing the duration by a lot, and fixing timeours by increasing the damage dealt ans either nerfing or increasing health regeneration for your partner when tagged out (forgot exactlt which) most of the FGC gave up on this game and went back to SF4. If you know how Smash Melee players treat Brawl and Smash 4 in negative light you can think of this game's incident in that way.
Oh, there was also the Street Fighter x Tekken reality show competition where Street Fighter and Tekken players were brought in to compete. The SF players had an advantage since the game played mostly like a traditional 2D FGC game with motion inputs. The main thing to take away from the show was that one coaches harrassed a female player on the show to the point where she forfeited the competition, which began lots of coverage of the show and talks of the incidents.

I think the incident also hurt Capcom ans Namco for a while since it gave them bad publicity.

To help tekken players transition to SFXT, players were given the option to enable a mode with 0 penalties that simplified SF controls. For example a QCF was now a down-forward. And charge charactees like Vega amd Guile had a simple down and up charge motion for their supers.

A few more things. When this game was initially released. Data-miners discovered 12 DLC charactees locked on the disc which also got people to boycott this game. They also cost 14 bucks and you could only buy them all together. The PS3 version of the game had 5 exclusive characters: Toro, Koro, Cole, Pac-Man, and Mega Man. It also contained some graphical bugs, notably Raven's super was missing a clone.
The game later released on the Vita which included all of the DLC characters. It also included a code which gave you dlc characters on the PS3 for free. So players who were early adapters felt ripped off. It even had cross-play with Ps3 and ypu could fight ps3 players online.
The PS3 version had a feature that allowed online co-op with an offline friend. That feature was missing in the Xbox version. Originally for both games the netcode was bad, but patches fixed that. Also due to patches, several bugs popped up. A notable one was that if Rolento's knife hit a projectile the game would crash. Another was that Mega Man had a glitch where he could timer stall by using an ex move in the air which would send him out of bounds and it never got patched.
The DLC characters and the PS3 exclusive characters have also been hacked into the Xbox game before release. So players like myself and others got to fight them online.

Could have been great but instead we got time outs and gems. Fucking gems. They ruin games. Gems should be thrown in the garbage and matches should be 200 seconds with no rounds and no one character death fail. Sad because the closest we are getting to this is BBCTB and that game is a fucking casual pandering scrub fest.

The guy who runs the discord has a youtube channel called "psychoblue sfxt" I believe. He uploads combo videos, tourney matches frok evo 2017, online matches, and other events that he takes the game to when he travels.

I remember buying the SF 25th Anniversary collection on 360, which I still have, and it came with this and SF4:AE. At the time, I hated it and held that mentality for years. Rewatching it makes me wonder if my hate was justified. After getting back into UMvC3, I found I was stupid to think that was bad too.

Such a shame how this game ended, the game is good with a lot of potential, characters, combos and costumes (Personalization of character). Yeah its true that the gem system was trash, the story too, the game lacked of stages, the DLC in-disk politics of our dear friend Capcom and those stupid exclusive console characters.
The 4 players in screen real time fight was a blast of fun, a little bit buggy but still good, the shared life was a really bad idea, games for windows live and the net problems gave the final lethal hit to this game sending it straight to the grave, it had good graphic quality cinematic endings, it lacked of Devil Jin, Devil Kazuya and Evil Ryu and Oni, everyone wanted to see Evil Ryu vs Devil Jin, maybe in Tekken X Street Fighter we´ll see it.
This game needs a resurrection edition that goes full Steam mode in PC and completely removes gfwl and the stupid gem system, adds 4 more stages (Because it lacked of stages, lets be real), maybe some few characters (I know it has a lot and this is a bit greedy but if they are going to do a re-launch the people who pay for it deserve more content as a way to apologize for how they killed their own game), some new DLC costumes to somehow support the re-launch of the game (Capcom only will agree with this lol) and more custom options in arcade and VS mode, like damage scale, shared life bar, 2 players vs 1 (This is not unfair if you alone play against 2 friends who aren´t good at fighting games), and maybe if they add new bosses (Could be Oni and Devil Kazuya or the monster form of Ogre), and make it avalible for every region of the world because im from south america and I can´t buy this game on steam. And this ladies and gentleman is the only way I will pay for a Street Fighter X Tekken: Ressurrection Edition.
Oh yeah I almost forgot, THE FUCKING PANDORA MODE CAN´T LAST ONLY 10 SECONDS YOU CAPCOM STUPID FUCKS, HOW IN THE HELL I AM SUPOSSED TO WIN IN 10 SECONDS IF MY OPPONENT GOES FULL TURTLE MODE, HAVE YOU EVER DESIGNED A FIGHTING GAME? BECAUSE THIS IS NOT HOW IT WORKS.
