Thank you for this great video. A short and less stressful way of getting the data into excel is to open excel, click on data, go to get data, then copy and paste the URL, select the table you need in this case table one and click load.
Thanks for your kind words @chesko7753! You are right - power query is very good at extracting data from various sources, but it is also quite complicated to use when the input table is in a wrong format, so it is not the topic of this video. Only a properly formatted excel table will load correctly in QGIS and that is the message I’m trying to get across. Many people I meet are still trying to load CSV files into QGIS when there is a better way, and I hope that they go for this methodology. All the best, Andreas
Wow, no steps needed for sometimes confusing step to convert the excel file to .csv. Too bad that newer versions of QGIS do not show a whole sheet but item by item now. Thanks.
Hi Jana, If you could load the Excel file then have a look at the attribute table and see what was loaded. Most likely it is a coordinate issue, like the coordinates are formatted as text in your excel file. All the best, Andreas
Hey, thank you for the video. What doesnt work for me is the step "create points layer from table". I dont see any function to do that. Can anyone help?
Hi Leonard, go to Processing tool box & type in "points" - look for "Create points layer from table" under Vector Creation. ruclips.net/video/OE4IcagdIos/видео.html All the best, Andreas
Hi Andreas, I am using the German version and everything looks and is named a bit different, thats why I was confused. But now I found it. Everything works now. Thank you so much! You helped me a lot!
