My cousin passed away this past Friday I just attended his funeral today and this was played at the end of the mass, I have not cried so hard since my father passed away please pray for his family as they are suffering right now

Our first born passed away last month. I don’t know how I will be able to stand up again and face the world. They said that I’m still young and is capable to bear a child again. But, they don’t know how painful it is to lose the one you love.
Today,I returned to the church and this song was played. The moment I hear the song, I feel like God is near with me and I was comforted. Hopefully, l God will give me healing and inner peace.

I love Saint Francis of Assisi he is a wonderful saint he had the stigmata and he did just look at his his song look at how kind and how sweet he was. @@annieisbilir7658 Sebastian Temple (1928-1997) adapted the text from scripture and wrote the tune, but it does not sound like him singing - different tone and accent. Michael O'Brien has a lovely version also, but this is not him either. Do you know where you got the recording from? This one is very clear and as happens with too many recordings, the vocals here are not lost in the instrumentals. A beautiful production!

@@annieisbilir7658 Thanks Annie. Yes unfortunately, it seems that credit is not given to the performers on any of the AOV recordings, as far as I can see anyway. And after some more research, I have to correct my statement on the composer - it seems the lyrics were first published as a poem in 1912, long after St Francis died (1181-1226). The author is unknown. The prayer was apparently attributed to St Francis because someone wrote it on the back of a picture of St Francis and that's how it came to be called the Prayer of St Francis. St Francis never knew it existed and it was not one of his or the Franciscan's prayers. The poem was adapted to a song by Sebastian Temple, who also wrote the music, but the original name was Make Me A Channel of Your Peace.

Sebastian Temple didn't write these words. Neither, for that matter, did St. Francis of Assisi. English is not even their first language, which is actually French. In fact, the author is unknown. For an authentic St. Francis prayer one must go to Canticle of the Sun (Laudes Creaturarum, Umbrian, 1224). South African composer Johann Sebastian von Templehoff wrote the melody to what is known as the Prayer of St. Francis in 1967. Please get your facts straight.
