- Day 9, 10 & 11 (Part 5) of the road trip from Tulum to Puerto Escondido. After doing a boat tour of the Sumidero canyon in Tuxtla, we started the big journey westward. Passing through La Ventosa, spending a night in Huatulco and eventually hitting up Mazunte Beach before finally arriving in Puerto Escondido to end the road trip.

Oaxaca was surprisingly is one of the most authentic cities you can visit in Mexico - you can shop on the markets, wander aimlessly cobbled stone streets in the city center, see a large number of churches which date many centuries back, indulge in local cuisine, photograph colorful houses, or get to know the indigenous

I really love Huatulco, i went there when it starts with Tourismn.
The first time we went to Puerto Escondido was in 1983 and it was so lovely. In that time i lived and worked in Tuxtepec/Oaxaca to build the CORONA Bewery, and i found mi Corazon there. Te amo mucho Mexico lindo. Saludos desde Alemania de Güero.
Huatulco is a major vacation destination for Canadians. That’s why it’s so busy and the hotels are so expensive.
Was just coming to say this! Pre - Covid they were always advertising for good deals to stay in the resorts there

I am really glad to see that you are enjoying your trip. But Covid cases in Mexico are rising as again (starting weeks ago). Maybe consider wearing a mask if you are close to other people like on the boat (even if not mandated) ? Some of the people around you wore masks and were therefore protecting you so i think it would only be fair if you would wear one was well.

Yo Sara, Chiapas is in a very different situation to the rest of Mexico. It's marked green and much of normality has returned. Outdoors on a high speed boat is also ver different from a bus/plane.
Mexico city is red and rising. Chiapas is not. That's where this video is shot. She's been wearing masks in all other regions and following regulations. Also, in the open air so don't be so mean, give her a break.

I still think if people close to you mask up its the polite and safe thing to do it as well.
Plus taking some safety measures early ensures that cases stay low (and trips like this can still happen. That's in her own interest i believe).
Wearing a mask when close to other people is definitively an easy measure you can take early.

Even though everyone says you are going to be “cheating” I recommend you start with the easy spots like Cancun or Los Cabos, where there are basically more foreigners than natives and the people in there speak english, since it is your first time and what not, it makes things easier.

Oaxaca Is the most underrated State in Mexico, Huatulco is such a beautiful town, not very expensive compare to other turistic Cities such a Tulum or Cancun. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

I could not be more jealous of this beach footage :o I was just on a day trip with my boyfriend to the Dutch island of Texel (north sea island) and it was the rainiest, windiest and foggiest day we have had for weeks. The kind of wind that feels like needles on your skin....... Not exactly swimming weather :D

I approve of the road trip tunes!! Spice Girls is always a classic, and I got super excited and nostalgic when Mika came on. Lollipop is one of my favorites. Love Today is always a classic, But Happy Ending is probably my absolute favorite. I miss blasting music through my earbuds when traveling. "Realiti" by Grimes became my Shinkansen anthem lol.

Enjoy the area around Puerto. It's amazing. Been there in early 2020 it was absolutely stunning. I think north of Puerto is also a place where you can see glowing water during full moon nights. It's from certain glowing plankton you can find there at certain times of the year and that place is also pretty off the beaten path unlike in Holbox where it's a big known event. Just check if its the right season for it online ;)

Thanks for showing the amazing state of Oaxaca and the beautiful Huatulco. Fun fact, I don’t know if you are aware but Huatulco (beach resort)was developed by FONATUR which is the National Fund for Tourism Development. This government entity was established back on the 70’s with a mandate for the planning, construction and maintenance of sustainable well-designed tourism centers throughout the country. Some examples of such tourist resorts developments are Cancun, Los Cabos, Ixtapa and Loreto. So basically, it was developed to meet tourist demand. That’s why you see a combination between modern buildings, highways, big resorts, business, plazas and walkable streets the area that was developed by FONATUR and the old town. BTW, I love your British accent.

Yes Maddie, i hear you. Im on the same boat, because i live in Holland and we are on lockdown. So all vlogs i planned for my channel got cancelled. For now im only creating content within Europe. You should come to Holland to live:) it will be easier to travel within sorrounding cities :)
What is considered cold 🥶 or what is spicy are common discussion/arguments between myself and my husband from Mexico haha. Love the cultural differences tho it makes life more interesting
