Good explanation Doc. The ole Skool switches were ok, weak point was the wire connection. Connect got so hot would melt the wire connector and set up resistance which drew higher amps. Today, need to be careful of the off market relays. They are way to lite for the amp draw. Thanks for posting
so how does the switch control the voltage with only one wire going to the switch? I would think there would need to be two wires to complete the circuit through the switch and back to the relay. Thanks and another great video!
@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson YES! LOL Relay kits are cheap on line. BUT, you get what you pay for. Get a high quality relay and test it under a load. Save yourself the headache, and embarrassment. 😂
My 1994/5 dyna super glide has no fuses , Just relay's. had no trouble with electrics for the 13 or so years she was running nearly every day, Never had trouble with the electrics and rebuilding her, She sat for 13-4 years. Got hurt at work , the union , company and state government all shat on me, so had to wait until i got some money as i could no work after the incident at work. I keep apologising to her.
Very well explained and easy to understand.
Perfect Doc, as always.

You are correct. Maybe I should have gone a little deeper on the switch side. I just got focused on the Relay….Doc
Hey Doc, can you recommend a good lift table not made in ccp?
Great video as always... thanks :-)
in the early days they were called field relays and solenoids.
I love a walk down history lane. Thank you…Doc

@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson I am a retired Coast Guard Corpsman. Always appreciate your videos.
Relay is just another added failure point. Wish we can go back to old tech much more reliable and simple. One heavy duty switch is all we need.
Where can I find a test relay ??
Some automotive parts stores. I would search the Net…..Doc
And for the love of GOD, do not use a cheap no name relays. If anything, go to a junkyard and "find" a few from late model cars. They all have them.
Voice of experience posting?…..Doc

I was using relays before relays were cool. ;)
Well done…..Doc
