Pichu's recovery is better, I check with friends. Pichu also have a smaller hurtbox, faster thunderbolt, and is faster in a lot of other areas. I hate to say it, but he might be better than Pikachu, in the hands of a really good player. The damage thing is only .2% at times, and that's only a big problem for spammers. What's a little bit of percent when you have a charcter like that?

You give up nair, some weight, a little bit of range, and an up b hitbox for a way smaller hurtbox, way better speed, crazy combos, crazy kill power, a nair that's actually safe on shield, better edgeguards (since you're faster and can go deeper with your better up b) and having basically all your moves do more damage. Self damage isn't even a factor unless you're spamming f-smash or thunder, in which case you'll take way more damage from getting punished for being stupid than you will from using the move. Pichu has no range and dies at 40. If you gave him disjoints or weight in addition to his current kit, he might be Brawl Meta Knight levels of broken. Pichu's probably the best in the game potential-wise (in the current meta he's probably more like #4 or #5, because he's hard,) and this is forgetting the fact that he technically has an infinite in lightning loops.

I was very interested in playing Pichu during the previews because I like trying to overcome characters' specific obvious weaknesses (plus the previews made it somewhat clear it wouldn't be a complete joke this time around).
