You are so fascinating. I have never heard of any of these things! And you are out foraging them all like a professional. Very cool. Glad I found this channel
Mushrooms are fascinating! I love reading up on them and looking for them. I love the squeak they make when you cut into one. Glad you made it thru Helene safe and sound!❤
I’m so glad you all are safe! “This ladder is slippery. Famous last words.” And then cut to dumping bricks and there’s momentary panic before you realize they’re bricks and it’s not you falling.😂 Love your videos - so relaxing!
All we lost was the mulberry tree. Very grateful, we just got power. My dad lost 35 fully grown pines just in his front yard. I’ll show on the next video
Glad y'all are ok! 👍 All that rain will be bringing even MORE mushroom finds!! As always, really diggin' the fantastic sky views - just fabulous!! You Are My Sunshine is the perfect out for the vid!! ❤ Beautifully done.

I remember a couple of years ago watching Adam Harinton from Learn Your Land describe the Shrimp of the Woods which parasitizes honey mushrooms. Think you're right.
I was totally mesmerized watching, incredibly interesting recipes and flavours. I have an ice cream maker almost identical to yours, I found it in an antique store and it still works. Great content.👍
❤ Thank you for the humming Taylor! Beautiful touch. 😊 I have a 200+ year old ash tree that died and drops limbs now & then, but is getting some great mushrooms up really high. I’m considering taking a class to learn more about foraging mushrooms now that I’ve been seeing so many. Thanks for the inspiration!
farinaceous adjective far·i·na·ceous ˌfer-ə-ˈnā-shəs ˌfa-rə- 1 : having a mealy texture or surface 2 : containing or rich in starch. Because I was curious :D
Love your channel and the knowledge. I think the old music playing and your family living on a homestead is probably my favorite part. A step back in time, Like looking through a current world window in our great grandparents house long ago, if that makes sense ❤
So glad to hear you are all safe thanks for another relaxing video they are so soothing in a world that has gone crazy. God bless you and your family from down under
we have a Douch oven and when we render lard from the butcher, we dice up the pieces into 1/2 inch sized cubes and then toss it all in the Douch oven with a splash of water. The water will keep it from burning for the first little bit until some of the fat begins to release. Keep it simmering/lightly boiling all day, stirring every now and then. We start ours in the morning and I want to say I turned it off right before bed. Our cracklings are a little darker than yours but not by much. Very interesting. Thanks for posting!
@@HoneybeeHollowGardens We've also done it with a slow cooker which made it super easy as it didn't take up a spot on the stove. Same deal with a splash of water (1/4 cup) and diced up cubes. You have to be careful lifting the lid off of it though. The overwhelming lard smell is so strong, it'll make your mustache hairs curl.
Non-astringent persimmons are one of my favorite fruits! Fortunately neither hurricane took them out here in north central Florida. A week without power was inconvenient and nothing compared to what my family and friends are dealing with in east TN/WNC. I’m so glad to see y’all fared well and I wonder if that mulberry won’t sprout from the base. Blessings, as we know, come in many sizes. Thank you for your beautiful video, always a lovely respite.
Thank you, I do hope the mulberry will grow back. Luckily, we have quite a few more that'll fruit next year. Glad you still have your persimmons though. Most of ours are non-astringent once they turn orange. No frost needed, expect on rare trees
Were those cedar shavings you put in the run? If it was cedar can cause respiratory issues in chickens. I just heard of shrimp of the woods a couple of days ago.
Any suggestions on learning mushroom varieties, harvesting and what to do with them once harvested? We are in lower NC and have so many varieties. I just don’t know what they are.

I’m glad you’re finding value 🙏

Yeah, I’m glad I discovered the entolomas. And it has been quite a week, but thank you
Beautiful! Taylor’s humming is beautiful too!
Your videos are like a soothing calm amidst a calamity of news. Thank you.
Ya gotta turn off the news! They don't help with anything lolz
I’m so glad you all are safe!

We’re all good, thanks. Didn’t actually get much consistent rain, just an absolute downpour in just a few hours
You are so bessed. And thank you for blessing me with your videos Will. 😊
I've been worried about you and family. Looks you're OK, which is a relief!
Thank you for the concern, we’re all good just chainsawing for 5 days straight. Took us half a day just to get out the drive
Happy y'all survived the storm... it's been really bad 🤗❤️
Lovely Will! Thank you for sharing.😊

Take one, totally worth it. What we eat in mushrooms every year would cost us thousands

I might try that method, the oils ended up separated on mine, not sure why it did that. We’re still using it though

There may be some cedar shavings in there but it’s probably mostly maple. Thanks for that info though I did not know that

Take a class, then when you forage on your own learn & potentially eat one at a time.
