I still very well disagree with the golden pass change. As I’ve mentioned before, Not only does it affect free to plays, but it affects paid players, too. All those people who flat out bought tokens instead of the (Welcome/Special/Legendary) packs will get screwed over. Since all of their hoarded tokens are kind of useless now. The other changes are fairly welcome though. Accessing old content could allow some of us to have an easier time to catch up. I want to try my best to remain optimistic, but I’m still pretty bummed.
On top of that, Epic games allow you to earn free vbucks through their passes to keep saving for newer seasons while still banging out a lot of sales with their cosmetics. I’m not sure why gameloft wouldn’t be able to keep doing the same with their current model of letting us get passes with tokens.
They said 83% of players didn't finish the golden pass to level 50. The mistake they made is assuming it was because of the difficulty of the pass, and not because of the myriad of other issues that make people stop playing the game. The rampant monetization here will only exacerbate the situation. More monetization will result in more people dipping out of the game and even fewer people completing the golden pass. This game is on its last legs.
I was starting to like the game, getting close to the required tokens for the golden pass because I was so excited for Wreck It Ralph, making my way through their awful matchmaking, but now they do this...

The tournament idea as a catch up idea sounded nice until you read the part in which they say you need the racer already to participate. That's not a catch up at all. Making the golden passes unbuyable with tokens is an insult to those who have saved them from playing RMP and those who bought the bundles with lots of tokens for this same purpose. At this rate they're gonna scrap them from the game, making it even less f2p friendly. They're locking us from 2 racers now and expect to pay double when there was never a problem with the rewards in the passes but the insane amount of xp scale they put in LM season. Hard to keep positive on a game many people like when they make bad changes just for greed.
These changes are bad. If you don't have unlocked the old season characters, you can't play the new tournaments, so new player can't do anything once more. Now we have to pay twice to get 2 seasons pass to unlock 2 chracters from the new season. That sucks.
Tournament Mode could potentially be interesting, but the Golden Pass changes seem way to bad to see something positive about the Pitstop. Splitting the Golden Pass and making it 500 Tokens each would be fine, but removing Tokens for Season Tour purchases and make them 10 Dollar each is just devastating. If it was a one time purchase and you could always gain a Season Tour Token at the end of the pass, than I could perhaps also live with it. Let's just hope that the negative feedback gets so massive or the next season flops so hard, that Gameloft has to revert the Battle Pass to Premium Token purchases.
I always appreciate your optimistic attitude, and I'll reserve judgment till Season 7 begins, but wow. When i saw the pit stop, what I read was "since 83% of the the players don't finish the season pass, we're going to try our best to Milk that 17% by doubling the season pass. Don't worry!! We're doubling the amount of tiers to give you something to do!! There's no way we're just splitting a regular season in to 2 separate passes and then doubling the cost!! Trust us!!" I've been playing since the beginning but this might be the point where I'm done. $10 a month / $120 a year for golden passes does not sound appealing. I don't care if other mobile games do it - just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
They dont make the pass easier.. they have half the exp you need but doubled the lvl sooo yeah no difference.. you still need to do the same amount of work. It will also cost you double.
And essentially it's more work since until now you could wait out and stack many mission objectives. With the new system and time limit on part 1 you will be forced to complete the missions earlier until you reach lvl 50.

At first I was amazed by the title and all. But after reading it all, I noticed that they are doing the same thing they've been doing. They're literally pushing us ( the new players ) further away from the game. Firstly, the tournaments can only be done by using a character from previous Seasons, but since I'm a new player it means I won't be able to do it at all, so just for starters, It's pointless to have a new system that only favors and benefits the ones that either paid or have been in the game for a long time, AND IT HURTS MY SOUL BTW. Secondly the only way to obtain the Epic characters from the upcoming Season will be by purchasing instead of trying to obtain one character to get other's shards throughout the Season tour which was basically what I did this season which is also the Season that I've started. Perhaps next Season will give me incentive to fully uninstall the game and find sth else to play, I won't be wasting myself over a game that only gives the hand to those who pay or have been in the game almost since the beginning.
Other than that ( I FORGOT TO MENTION ), They said we will have enough shards to take new characters up to 2 stars for free throughout the Season Track. Though they've used the word "IF" we complete all the chapters, which is a crux word here since new players like me haven't been able to complete all Season Tour Chapters due to the lack of characters. So don't get your hopes up as regards to being able to get enough shards for a new character yall, that ain't happening. I speak from experience from this Season 7 Tour, I haven't been able to get a ton of rewards because of that and next Season is evidently going to be the same, therefore all leads to only one ultimate goal ( HIT THE SHOP ). that's sad how much creativity and effort and time they put into bamboozling us instead of making it a better environment for new players.
I'm not here to be toxic by the way, just spitting out the truth of being a new player in the game. Those who aren't new won't understand it if not sympathize well.

So the tournament things seems cool for those interested no issue there. Now, the real meat - sky I'm confused, why do you think these changes will keep the tour fresh? They said we will still have the same chapter amount over all, only difference when the second pass starts whatever you didn't finish in the first set is gone...so now you have a soft timer on early missions instead of the whole season to go back to missions you miss or if you get new characters as the season progresses you can do those lower level older ones. Second I'm also confused by the whole our community couldn't finish all 50 levels so we cut xp needed from 2k to 1k(good) but give you have the time (so its...the same then?!?). These changes my dude. I know they needed to up revenue but they needed to do major skins see how it moved the needle and if it did lean more into skins and if it didn't make another drastic change like this in season 8. This is too much all at one time for the community to digest. Boiling the frog may be a fake apology but it still works in marketing strats. Guess we will see but I'm really not looking forward to next season now.

There's some pros to these changes, however Gameloft COULD turn those pros into serious cons. The new Tournament mode should also be multiplayer as people have been wanting that for almost a year now. And locking a tournament mode behind an unlocked character and then needing to level said character to up to level 30 will not be appealing to a newcomer. The changes of the Golden Pass....I'm sorry, but such change is something that people never ask for and will be a BIG detriment to the game. The main gripe with Gameloft is that they don't communicate with the player base and gives us changes no one ask for. While still not addressing existing big issues with this game: Ranked Multiplayer STILL unbalanced, no new ways to get Token in-game. Gameloft needs to understand that not everyone wants to spend large sums of money and shouldn't demand more large sums when already did spend that amount. I've been playing this game since Early Access, but also play various games other than this, and aim to spend money on other games including other F2P games. Eventually there will be a day when I cease playing this game entirely and desist on providing money for this game. Ever since Speedstorm gone officially F2P; the state of this game is slowly but surely deteriorating more and more.
Maybe they could add a system for the golden pass where you get credits as rewards in the golden pass like in rocket league or other games with battle passes. They could release golden pass credit segments and when you get 10 or something you get a golden pass token.
Super bummed out about the direct purchase cause I paid money for the bundle and now all that local currency is a waste :(. I manage to get all racers because of this.
Each season, I'm afraid of a bad news because it seems that they want to make bad decisions each season. But I didn't thought they would make the golden pass not purchasable with tokens. Seriously, if this decision is not removed or if rewards are not increased when you do not purchase golden pass, I'll quit the game. Very sad, I was there since season 1 and Tournament mode sounds good. So disappointed. I really love that game!
Pretending doubling rewards is for the players when the goal is to charge everyone $20 to play is nonsense. I hope the whales keep this game afloat because this is going to kill the game.
I am not wasting my time and money on buying. All what Gameloft wants is money I think the free pass racer will be Fix it Felix and the Golden Pass racer can either be Vanellope or Ralph.
Mostly taking a wait and see approach, but one concern that does stand out - is the transition from part 1 to part 2 of a given season. Since they mention that once part 2 starts, chapters from part 1 will no longer be accessible - if they continue to roll out chapters the way that have up to this point, the last chapter of part 1 will have effectively 1 week of life before it is phased out and we're in part 2. if you happen to be on vacation for that week - guess you're just outta luck. Hopefully there will be either some window between the two parts or the chapters are all released well enough in advance before closing part 1 of the season and focusing on part 2.
Just a quick comparison Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (with booster course pass) is $84.98 and you have a complete game, but if you are to purchase a golden pass every chance you get in Disney Speedstorm, within a year you will have spent $119.88 and most likely still won't be able to complete the season tour unless you put in even more money. This is ridiculous.

dont make the golden pass pay only keep it how it is now with 1000 tokens in the pass (so I can get one pass and play regulary to unlock the next pass) im ok with 2 passes a season and all the there changes but just add 1000 tokens to the pass and i will pay to get it until, then im free to play
They really went from “we’ve seen that 80% of y’all didn’t reach lv50 on the season pass” To “so we split the season in two season pass of a month each, each having 50 tiers, but we did reduce the exp needed from tier 1 to tier 49 by 50%” then to “so you guys are not gonna be able to use tokens for the season passes anymore, just pay 10$ twice next season, or just go for 20$ and we gon do 30% of the job for you”
I'm also excited for this season... but I'm just worried about not being able to unlock the characters...😩 I'm not understanding much, but if the tokens really won't be useful... I think I could use some to try to unlock Minnie and Pete this season...I don't know, I don't trust those boxes, and I was saving them for next season's golden pass. 😅
I don’t mind the new tournament feature, but the ability to not use tokens to get the golden pass is the news that many of us didn’t want to hear. It’s going to be much harder for free to play players to try and unlock all Season 7 characters.

This game is too much of a grind & the prices are crazy too. I just wanted to race online with all the characters with my friends and against the bots like crash bandicoot but with Disney characters.
I’m gonna speak this straight up truth I love what Gameloft is doing and I am so up for it. It is awesome how they making these changes and what a great twist although I feel bad for the freedom boy players I am a bit selfish right now, and just so excited for playing the new season as a season, one who bought the game and joined Skyliner when he only had 300 subscribers🎉❤
Some things: the non token purchase of passes is dumb. As there are a lot of different passes now, it would make people choose what they wanted to spend tokens on and have to pay for the rest, after all grinding a single golden pass in a season is already rough, imagine two or three. Second: we are getting less for each pass. Each pass has only 5 season tour chapters and the same amount of awards in the track. Which means less playtime for the same money. Third: now we have only one month to achieve the ridiculous requirements of season tours which are becoming worse every season. Imagine needing to have a lvl 35 ralph for chapter 5... yikes
The only negatives I don’t care for here as a f2p player are removal of using tokens towards the gold pass and part one of the tour going away once part two comes around. Other than that I think it’s pretty interesting. Also I don’t mind to wait for a season to roll for racers in the universal box.
it was always going to happen with the season pass, but to put P2W stuff in a F2P game you still need F2P stuff to keep the player base high enough that the P2W people have players to play against
Yeah..... it's a no for me 😬 i have over 500 hours in this game (started Lilo season) i like to play and expect it to be pretty grindy for a FTP game. But this..... this is full blown mobile play mentality (i get it's going to be available there soon). I hope they can replace all their console player base and then some with these changes because i do not see them keeping many after this.
i just started this season in season 6 when there was 22 days left i am thankful for delay as i can grind my other new characters i obtained recently to 16 or 18 and sometimes 21 mpr managed to get just barely enough stars for ursula. learned of the cheating AI stomping you out if you are too far under leveled and under crewed with some races being unable to beat due to being 5 levels under. however season 7 sounds like a disaster with this change being money only i grinded out enough tokens for next pass i am afraid it is going to get worse. however takeing away tokens may end up a lawsuit even if they changed tos. as tokens were something you could buy golden pass with now you can't. this is no longer microtrasction game they are takeing it macrotransactions like some of f2p squad based shooters. i wonder if this is due to mobile version roll out and mobile game whale players often spend money like one would drink water. which the mobile version isn't in the us market yet. this and disney dreamlight valley are becomeing more and more not f2p friendly i fell and dreamlight is still full price game unlike this one they made ftp i managed to get to pass level 50 as f2p even earned enough tokens for 2 golden passes. bought this season and was saveing for the next.
The only question I have is can we use Golden passes for vault passes? After all Vault passes are cheaper so it would only benefit Gameloft to allow players to use spare Golden Passes as Vault Passes instead (I have 6 Golden Passes left as I bought 1 of each founders pass and the standard and special welcome packs for a total of 10 and used 4 for the 4 seasons I've been in). So for the 3 vaults and 2 parts I would need 5 and have 1 left afterwards if that was the case. Otherwise I will need to buy vault passes separately and would have enough golden passes for 3 seasons now.
Also the tournament isn't as great as I was hoping. Because you still need to own the racer before you can do them... so it doesn't help new players to get racers at all.. wich is sad cause that would have been great. They also mentioned if you dont pay you get 4 attempts. But I did not see them specify if that is daily or 4 overall.. dont get me wrong I think the pay aspect is fair since people have paid for those starpaths before so it would be unfair if you can get it for free now. But if in the worst case scenario you only get 4 attempts for 3 cups over 5 racers.. like you basicly have to buy it if you like more than 1 character for it to be usefull and that seems like a bit to much too... since the past desicions I am a bit sceptical about the tournament attempts untill I have seen what they mean in the game

There are 3 bundles in the shop that give them The cheapest gives 1 the next gives 2 and the last one gives 3 Along with racers costumes and car colors

100% agreed. that said, if you have any previous experience with GL, you probably know why things are the way they are. unfortunately.

I've been playing this game since Early Access, but also play various games other than this, and aim to spend money on other games including other F2P games. Eventually there will be a day when I cease playing this game entirely and desist on providing money for this game. Ever since Speedstorm gone officially F2P; the state of this game is slowly but surely deteriorating more and more.
Maybe they could add a system for the golden pass where you get credits as rewards in the golden pass like in rocket league or other games with battle passes. They could release golden pass credit segments and when you get 10 or something you get a golden pass token.
Super bummed out about the direct purchase cause I paid money for the bundle and now all that local currency is a waste :(. I manage to get all racers because of this.

Each season, I'm afraid of a bad news because it seems that they want to make bad decisions each season. But I didn't thought they would make the golden pass not purchasable with tokens. Seriously, if this decision is not removed or if rewards are not increased when you do not purchase golden pass, I'll quit the game. Very sad, I was there since season 1 and Tournament mode sounds good. So disappointed. I really love that game!
Pretending doubling rewards is for the players when the goal is to charge everyone $20 to play is nonsense. I hope the whales keep this game afloat because this is going to kill the game.

I think the free pass racer will be Fix it Felix and the Golden Pass racer can either be Vanellope or Ralph.

Mostly taking a wait and see approach, but one concern that does stand out - is the transition from part 1 to part 2 of a given season. Since they mention that once part 2 starts, chapters from part 1 will no longer be accessible - if they continue to roll out chapters the way that have up to this point, the last chapter of part 1 will have effectively 1 week of life before it is phased out and we're in part 2. if you happen to be on vacation for that week - guess you're just outta luck. Hopefully there will be either some window between the two parts or the chapters are all released well enough in advance before closing part 1 of the season and focusing on part 2.
Just a quick comparison Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (with booster course pass) is $84.98 and you have a complete game, but if you are to purchase a golden pass every chance you get in Disney Speedstorm, within a year you will have spent $119.88 and most likely still won't be able to complete the season tour unless you put in even more money. This is ridiculous.

I'm glad I have about 3 or 4 golden pass credits to buy the next few golden passes because I bought the packs that gave you GP credits.
I don't see the point of playing much ranked anymore outside of buying boxes for a character you want
dont make the golden pass pay only keep it how it is now with 1000 tokens in the pass (so I can get one pass and play regulary to unlock the next pass) im ok with 2 passes a season and all the there changes but just add 1000 tokens to the pass and i will pay to get it until, then im free to play
They really went from “we’ve seen that 80% of y’all didn’t reach lv50 on the season pass”

I'm not understanding much, but if the tokens really won't be useful... I think I could use some to try to unlock Minnie and Pete this season...I don't know, I don't trust those boxes, and I was saving them for next season's golden pass. 😅
I don’t mind the new tournament feature, but the ability to not use tokens to get the golden pass is the news that many of us didn’t want to hear. It’s going to be much harder for free to play players to try and unlock all Season 7 characters.
I’ve been enjoying the game since season 4 and was really excited for the wreck it Ralph season but the golden pass change is really upsetting!

This game is too much of a grind & the prices are crazy too. I just wanted to race online with all the characters with my friends and against the bots like crash bandicoot but with Disney characters.

I’m gonna speak this straight up truth I love what Gameloft is doing and I am so up for it. It is awesome how they making these changes and what a great twist although I feel bad for the freedom boy players I am a bit selfish right now, and just so excited for playing the new season as a season, one who bought the game and joined Skyliner when he only had 300 subscribers🎉❤
Some things: the non token purchase of passes is dumb. As there are a lot of different passes now, it would make people choose what they wanted to spend tokens on and have to pay for the rest, after all grinding a single golden pass in a season is already rough, imagine two or three.
Second: we are getting less for each pass. Each pass has only 5 season tour chapters and the same amount of awards in the track. Which means less playtime for the same money.
Third: now we have only one month to achieve the ridiculous requirements of season tours which are becoming worse every season. Imagine needing to have a lvl 35 ralph for chapter 5... yikes
I like the vault pass idea, even splitting the golden pass into two parts but making you pay double for it is a bad move I think
The only negatives I don’t care for here as a f2p player are removal of using tokens towards the gold pass and part one of the tour going away once part two comes around. Other than that I think it’s pretty interesting. Also I don’t mind to wait for a season to roll for racers in the universal box.
I don't like these changes, now players need to keep up with the game even more, and a majority of players will now be locked out of passes.

it was always going to happen with the season pass, but to put P2W stuff in a F2P game you still need F2P stuff to keep the player base high enough that the P2W people have players to play against

Yeah..... it's a no for me 😬 i have over 500 hours in this game (started Lilo season) i like to play and expect it to be pretty grindy for a FTP game. But this..... this is full blown mobile play mentality (i get it's going to be available there soon). I hope they can replace all their console player base and then some with these changes because i do not see them keeping many after this.
i just started this season in season 6 when there was 22 days left i am thankful for delay as i can grind my other new characters i obtained recently to 16 or 18 and sometimes 21 mpr managed to get just barely enough stars for ursula. learned of the cheating AI stomping you out if you are too far under leveled and under crewed with some races being unable to beat due to being 5 levels under.
however season 7 sounds like a disaster with this change being money only i grinded out enough tokens for next pass i am afraid it is going to get worse. however takeing away tokens may end up a lawsuit even if they changed tos. as tokens were something you could buy golden pass with now you can't.
this is no longer microtrasction game they are takeing it macrotransactions like some of f2p squad based shooters.
i wonder if this is due to mobile version roll out and mobile game whale players often spend money like one would drink water. which the mobile version isn't in the us market yet.
this and disney dreamlight valley are becomeing more and more not f2p friendly i fell and dreamlight is still full price game unlike this one they made ftp
i managed to get to pass level 50 as f2p even earned enough tokens for 2 golden passes. bought this season and was saveing for the next.
The only question I have is can we use Golden passes for vault passes? After all Vault passes are cheaper so it would only benefit Gameloft to allow players to use spare Golden Passes as Vault Passes instead (I have 6 Golden Passes left as I bought 1 of each founders pass and the standard and special welcome packs for a total of 10 and used 4 for the 4 seasons I've been in). So for the 3 vaults and 2 parts I would need 5 and have 1 left afterwards if that was the case. Otherwise I will need to buy vault passes separately and would have enough golden passes for 3 seasons now.

These tournaments aren’t that nice tbf. Main reason why you’d want the previous gold pass rewards is to unlock racers
Also the tournament isn't as great as I was hoping. Because you still need to own the racer before you can do them... so it doesn't help new players to get racers at all.. wich is sad cause that would have been great. They also mentioned if you dont pay you get 4 attempts. But I did not see them specify if that is daily or 4 overall.. dont get me wrong I think the pay aspect is fair since people have paid for those starpaths before so it would be unfair if you can get it for free now. But if in the worst case scenario you only get 4 attempts for 3 cups over 5 racers.. like you basicly have to buy it if you like more than 1 character for it to be usefull and that seems like a bit to much too... since the past desicions I am a bit sceptical about the tournament attempts untill I have seen what they mean in the game

The golden pass is the worst thing they changed, its just ridiculous, the golden pass had nothing wrong in it, so why they would change the golden pass for no reason just to make the game P2W?
