  • Sony A6700! What can I say? It is accidentally the least compromised camera the money can buy in 2024.
Looking at how the camera and imaging industry is moving fast, throwing out half-baked thrash into the consumer’s hands without any shame, it is important to understand how the camera and lens products used to be and how it is now. I can’t really blame the bad actors who are pushing their incomplete products hard with the powerful tool called marketing just so that they can still be relevant in this content consumption age, unlike other manufacturers such as Kodak and Pentax who only belong in the museums as the pioneers in Film and DSLR camera manufacturers. On the other hand, Nikon has successfully got on the bandwagon with Sony, Canon, and Fuji cameras by releasing a camera with the least compromise called the Nikon Z8 which also helped Nikon to win the trust of its loyal customers who were about to jump ships to other brands for the reasons everyone knows. It is also one of the brands that is consistent in keeping the basics intact right from handling and start-up times. Canon is still trying to figure out the best way to position their ON/OFF switch on their newer series of mirrorless cameras making switching between cameras really annoying! Panasonic doesn’t care about the start-up time as they manufacture computer systems in cameras to accommodate the widest range of recording options that deserve awards for manufacturing sub-$2000 dollars cameras with internal raw recording capability and the cameras with the slowest start-up times. Finally, what Apple is to Mobile phones is what Sony has become for Imaging devices. Sony’s products boast their lengthy adjectives and list of technology cramped into every newer camera but with certain caveats. Sony is also the brand that is hell-bent on not making a decent hybrid camera with more recording limitations when it comes to rolling shutter and 4K 60FPS crops. In Sony’s eyes, photographers and videographers cannot be the same person and can only manufacture cameras capable of one or the other the best. If Sony released a product that can do both photography and videography, it should only be at a decent level and of course with a 4K 60FPS crop.
In all this chaos, Sony accidentally released the a6700 with the least compromise in photo and video capturing capabilities. The start-up time of a6700 is fast, not miss the moment, while it can also capture the action in 11 FPS continuous, in both electronic and mechanical burst modes. 4K video can be captured in S-LOG3 in 25, 50, and even 100 FPS while, down-sampled videos can be captured in 30 and 50 FPS without a noticeable crop. The 1.5x crop in 4K 120FPS recording is beneficial as I use it to record only wildlife, although I wish it was down-sampled for a crisper video. I do not mind a single card slot, but I wish it was a CF express card slot as the SD card gets more expensive than a CF express card for the same capacity. Those are the only concerns with this camera. Otherwise, this camera can deliver the best image quality in photos and videos for about one-third of the price of the Nikon Z8. There is no better camera from any other band that is as good as the Sony A6700 in this price range. The other cameras in this price range are Fuji cameras with poorer autofocus, Canon R7, and Nikon APSC cameras with poorer dynamic range in video recording and finally, over-priced micro four-third cameras with digital-looking images. Sony APSC lens line-up is more mature, being sharp, weather sealed, and lightweight. The amount of 3rd party lens support for Sony E-mount is also unbeatable for the prices they offer. I am not a Sony fanboy, and I will never stop bashing on Sony. But, the Sony a6700 has gained my respect as much as the Nikon Z8 did with their minimal compromises in their respective categories. I really love these small bodies from Sony lately, including the full frame A7CII, A7RC, ZV-E1 - tiny incredible cameras that just a year ago would be in the range of £3-4k, many of their advantages trickled down to the A6700. Saying that, I sent my A6700 back and got a ZV-E1 to have the legendary sensor from the A7S III in an A6700 style body :)

@@AlissaAndJay E-Infin sell them direct from Hong Kong at pretty good prices, when I bought it, it was only about 10% more expensive than the A6700, but the A6700 has dropped in price since so it is pretty fantastic value.
The A6700 is also a fantastic camera though and has many advantages like EVF, higher resolution in photos, etc - Sony are just hitting it out of the park lately!

A6700 serves me well for my photography and video needs and I would only get something that can complement this in the future. Not to replace it. Haha.. thanks for sharing your opinions

Right on, it is the best little camera on the market. It does nearly everything its bigger brother, the A7R5, does and does it well. The A7R5 DNS shows every time you turn on the camera.

Right! I agree. I value instant startup to shoot time as it is absolutely important for any photographers and I find not many camera manufacturers consider this to be important at all. It is so bad nowadays. Anyway, thanks for watching the video!

How can you put the Panasonic G9 II as a camera that is "trash" ?
It has some of the best video features on the market, excellent pixel density, the AF is very good and image quality is top notch.
    What a trash video

      Thanks for watching.
I called G9ii, half-baked trash. I used G9ii and have a few videos about it, calling it trash. So, that is a different video, LOL. In all seriousness, Please check out those videos on my channel to understand why I said that. Let's not cherry-pick a single word but rather understand the story's context. I recommend you watch this video again and understand the context.
      Let me help you.
Before my purchase: here is a video of me saying "G9ii is the best camera in the world": ruclips.net/video/L8r6FZbudas/видео.html
After purchasing and using G9ii, here is a video of me saying "G9ii is trash": ruclips.net/video/9CXrWuKffTI/видео.html
I bring you the facts but the decision is yours, depending on what you value in the product. It is your money after all. G9ii is significantly more expensive and I did build an ecosystem around it. After using it for a few months, only the frustrations increased and it did not function as the right tool for me. So, I sold it and got this Sony a6700 which I should've done since the beginning.
