E36 323i M50 Manifold swap! (FULL install)

- Today I'm doing the M50 manifold swap on my BMW E36 323i M52B25!
This swap doesn't require any drilling, it's plug and play! I will show you the full install, from removing the old manifold, swapping everything over to the new manifold and installing the new M50 manifold back in! I will upload a video with my reaction on the swap later.
With this swap you should gain around 20HP, as the 323i has the same engine as the 325i, it should make the same power with the manifold (192HP). There is some torque loss on lover revs but you can map that out via a chip.

Hey, had je ook last van CELs bij het verwijderen van de canister? Op het M52 spruitstuk zit de purge valve waarvan de stekker nu los ligt neem ik aan? Bedankt!

How much power did you gain with this mod? I also have 323i
M52b25 with m50 intake makes same hp as m50b25?
Temp sensor can only stay if the inlet manifold is from M50TU engine (with Siemens ECU), otherwise if it is M50 (nonvanos) you need to use a sensor from M50TU in order for it to show correct data for M52 Siemens ECU.
Also very good that you kept the M52 fuel rail with 3.5BAR fuel pressure regulator. Some people use M50 one, which has 3 BAR regulator and do not work properly.

Unless u find one a rail that doesn't have the fpr on it. Also just order a the air temp sensor from bimmerworld,it's retrofitted with threads to go into the stock location
Can you not use the m52 sensor and relocate it to the intake boot?
@@loosevalves You can relocate IAT to intake boot, but you if you have M52 engine with Siemens ECU, you have to use M52 or M50TU sensor. M50 non-vanos has Bosch ECU and the sensor from M50 non-vanos engine will not work properly with M52 Siemens ECU

Zal een m50 inlaat ook meer vermogen geven bij een m52b20?
Is die kit al verkrijgbaar? En begrijp ik goed dat je met een M50tu alles gewoon terug kan plaatsen zonder zaken te deleten? En bij een remap, wat moet er dan precies gebeuren? Ik lees dat je dat moet doen om een dip in koppel in de mid range te fixen. Verder leuke video!
De charcoal canister moet je deleten omdat daar geen aansluit punt voor is in de inlaat. ST-Trackparts heeft binnenkort een ombouw kit beschikbaar
Ok thx. In de inlaat die ik nu besteld heb kan ik hem gewoon kwijt. Had net een nieuwe pcv dus die houd ik maar denk ik

Ur always going to be throwing a engine code reguardless if u get a tune unless u put a resistor in place of the sensor in that first throttle body u removed(for the traction control system)
a tune should help make that CEL stay away though right. I mean both my buddies did this and got the proper tune and they have no lights or weird engine response(s)

You could but I don't think there are any power gains with that.

There are many conversion kits you can buy for E46. But you must be aware that on E46 the ports on the head do not match the M50 manifold and you need to have them expanded with a grinder, to port match with the manifold to get the real high RPM power gains.
How do you prevent the fuel lines from spilling fuel out over the engine upon disconnecting?
You pretty much don't. If you're engine is stone cold there's nothing to worry about it'll evaporate quickly
I've got a BMW e36 m52b25 and would like to swap M50 manifold in it. Is it possible to do it without the kit or do you need a kit for this swap? and do you need a remap so the engine receives the correct air?
You definitely need the kit. Especially to convert the throttle body connection. You don't need a remap, but ofcourse you will get a lot more out of the swap if you do.

Ik heb nu een M50 inlaat besteld bij die man op Ebay Kleinanzeigen die ze speciaal aanpast. Remap komt ook van hem met aparte ECU. Vanos ga ik meteen ook vernieuwen maar wil het liefst ook S52B32 nokkenassen doen
Did you made a remap to Ecu when changed manifold? Or it is stock?
The ECU is still stock, but I will get it mapped later

Can you swap m52b28 throttle body to m50 manifold just only with the spacer ? so the o-rings of both do not come vacuum leaky?

So the 323i has a restricted manifold compared to the 325i, but they are pretty much the same engine (m52B25) so if you put the M50 manifold on the 323i you will have the same power as a 325i (192HP)
About 20hp. It will work on the 99 but how easily depends on the car u have. The 328 and m3 still had the m52 but the 323 had a m54(or a m52tu but I don't think it exists)and will require a different install kit. It's a a lil more involved if u have a m54

I was trying this for 2 years and bought 3 m50 intakes and it never worked with my 323 in cura here (euro 323) bmw mechanics said my car is just weird🙃 so i made it faster with better diff 😂
A shorter diff is also a very good option to make it faster. I also have a euro 323i and I used a conversion kit so I didn't need to modify the manifold so maybe that helps or a remap.
Yup 3.45 lsd made it faster than a 325😂 but nice video though 👌🏾

Yes, it’s just a small tab you need to cut off
@@TJS36 ahhhhh okay lol so it's not totally 100% plug 'n play, you need to do a bit of cutting/fabrication/machining w/e... do you think you would've been able to just like bend it outta the way? how about filing down the plastic on the manifold where the rail is bolted to it??
@@duncanmn95 All you need to do it cut a simple tab of with a grinder. I never used grinder before this so anyone can do it haha

I may also try just sanding down the manifold where it gets in the way of the fuel rail (or where the fuel rail gets in the way of the manifold lol however you wanna think about it) and maybe bending that tab outta the way, I saw @Quinn Clark - M3NACE do it in one of their videos ruclips.net/video/N0MfTiXfKiw/видео.html

Why would you make a video like this and not tell s how it came out? for all we know you hated it once you drove it. For all we know, you lost torque in the bottom end and were disappointed, for all we know, the engine is no longer smooth and too loud, we don't know ANYTHING, because you told us ZERO about it. Do better.
You lose torque in bottom end without a tune. Never said anything about it not longer being smooth and too loud.
