Since it's always a composite of foreground and background, i find it easier to first photograph the foreground at blue hour and then move to a clear area with little foreground. And shoot the milky way. Since it's so far off it does not change based on location, and it's easier to separate the sky without a lot of foreground junk.

Mads, I think you need a natural night / light pollution filter on your lens or in front of your sensor... the orange glow from the lights of the highway or town or cars, is spoiling a beautiful composition.

Great shots - when were you there? I was up there Xmas day last year and found there was quite a bit of light pollution along the horison. I guess I have to get myself out there in the milky way core season next year.
Another question: Why do you shoot with such high ISO? When the camera is ISO invariant you get more dynamic range by keeping the ISO down, but of course it is less convenient as it is harder to see what you are doing on site. 🙂

Mads, I enjoy your videos and want to support a creative, photographer and content creator.
I just signed up for the five day deal, because of your recommendation.
And I’m curious if everything will work out, though I do have to say your warning about about the scammy feeling was spot on. The shopping experience with five day deal is very annoying and extremely sketchy.
If you and other RUclipsrs hadn’t ensured it’s safe I never would have purchased it and they should really consider their approach.
Even after purchasing they were pushing to buy yet another bundle and another…geez.😂
I did not get those other ones though.
I’m hoping to eventually be able to attend one of your workshops or your photoshop training, until then I’ll keep enjoying your videos.
    Thank you.
    Best, Nina

Thank you very much. Yes, I know the process can be rather annoying. Been through it myself and I'll remind them to turn the pushiness down again. I'll collect a sample of screenshots of comments and send it to them. Yet again, thanks a lot. You should have lifetime streaming access and can download the files if you want to.

Fantastic images! My dad worked at the Brofelde Observatory for many years, and I have been wanting to take pictures like for years, so I could give him a print of one. Thank you for the tips as to where to stand.
Will a 50mm lens on a full frame body be too big to get decent shots at the observatory?

Thanks a lot, Søren! Sounds like an awesome dad you have there :)
I'd definitely say you'll need something between 12-24mm. 50mm is too tight. It's technically possible but you'll limit yourself quite a lot :)
