Oh my goodness I made this bread … had to cut off the tops cuz it got pretty fluffy - but tastes awesome and IT WORKED. They sealed. Thank you so much … I wanna try pumpkin bread next. You are so awesome - thank you
I've been doing this for years, like my grandma did. The first time I did it, after getting married, my husband freaked out .... lol. Anywho, I've only done quick breads and dessert type things. I used to make single serving ones in the 4 oz regular mouth (smooth walled) & the 8 oz Kerr wide mouth ( these are GREAT for single serving pineapple upside down cake). Side note....we're eating canned Boston brown bread, banana bread & pineapple upside down cake that was canned in '20! I'm not recommending that just saying that ours is still useable without 'adverse side effects'. Thank you for sharing! SO many people won't can these or even eat these bc the process isn't F......D......A approved.
Bak in the early 80’s when I was in college my mother make zuc bread and banana bred for me to take back to school as well as other meals in a jar. Convent home cooked meals while away from home.
The disclaimer that this is not FDA "approved" is a huge plus especially considering they approved all those harmful chemicals to be put in our food...will be doing this soon :)
What a great idea! As in every mason jar canning method for other things, that great seal is caused by the vacuum created when the hot jar cools to room temperature. BTW, when some idiot asked the Amish why they didn't get COVID, the reply was "We don't watch TV."
Love the videos. I've done this with Boston Brown Bread, in the past (before the Diabetes Fairy made a surprise visit...LOL). A little trick, turn the oven off, and with the door open, take the jars out one at a time and put on the rings and lids. There will be no problem with them cooling down too quick and the door being open will let most of the heat escape, keeping them from over cooking. I guess I am going to have to make a batch of BBB, just be stingy on how much I have at once (though it is sooooooo good, it is difficult not to eat it all .... hahahahahaha).
Thanks! I am so excited to learn new things from you. Particularly mason jars preps all things including desserts. I found your channel when I did a search on survival food. Love your tips, simplicity and honesty. Oh by the way, thanks for the tip on dry vacuuming with the 20 dollar thing. I have it on my Christmas list on Amazon.🥰
I discovered you on RUclips not long ago and thank God I did! Of all the home canners, including " rebel" canners you are the best! I never seen this done before. Now i can make room in my precious freezer space by using up those over ripe frozen bananas and zucchini ! You,young lady, are a blessing!
I have never heard of this! So excited to try it! Usually when I make banana bread my kids don’t eat it fast enough so guess who consumes it before it goes bad?!😅. Making single servings or even just enough for a weekend breakfast would be wonderful! Love your content girl! Keep ‘em coming, I learn so much💞💞
At the top of the page under the title of the video you will see the word "more". Click on it and it will show you more information about the video including the recipe she used for the banana bread with the temp and time for baking.
I am going to try this with brown bread. I used to make it regularly in coffee cans in water bath but the end is open with aluminum foil-Delicious, but you have to eat it right away.
I would like for you to so biscuits, cornbread& and a sandwich bread. You are so talented. So glad I found you rhis summer. I canned pears in August with the way you do. I pipped open a can a couple of days ago. So delicious.
Wow! Thats amazing and a fabulous way to use up old bananas for extended deliciousness! Thank you for the great ideas!!!! Is it possible to make a white bread loaf(yeast) this way?
The reason this is a slightly risky technique (and I do mean slightly) is because even though the bread is heated to the “sterile” point and the lid vacuum seals itself when it cools, the remaining air that is trapped in there may have mold spores or bacteria that can grow while it’s on the shelf. Again, you’ll be fine most of the time, but it’s not foolproof. Freezing and vacuum bag sealing probably a better technique, but not everyone has the freezer space.
Wow! Never even heard about this before! So great! Question: I like to put pecans in my banana bread. Do you think it would be ok to put nuts in the bread???
I have heard no nuts so I haven’t tried. I think it would be alright if you were eating it within a shorter period of time. But I do thing the nuts would reduce the self life so if you put them, eat them within a few weeks and don’t leave them on the shelf for months at a time
I used a bread recipe from Poor Man's Cookbook, and it had almost the same amount of ingredients that yours did....but it made only 4 jars of batter. And the batter was so thick I had to spoon it into the 'cans'. It also took 45 mintutes to bake .
Did you preheat the oven to 350 degrees like you normally would for bread or do you start with a cold oven so the jars are not shocked by the temperature? I love your videos. I'm learning so much. Thank you so much for sharing these techniques!
Hello, im a new subscriber can you use a cake box mix, and instead of banana can i use crushed pineapple? And and can i use a roaster oven , my stove is broken.and what size of jars are you using, and if i use quart jars would it be the same 350 temp and cooking time 35 minutes? .tyfs.GOD BLESS.
What are the odds that a Date Walnut bread would jar well ? I ask wondering because of the fruit and nuts being in large dense pieces. I'm likely to try it but was looking for your thoughtful insight. 😊❤
It probably wouldn’t keep as long. It would keep longer than it would in-Jared but I would think that it might mold quicker than a bread without the fruit and nuts
I tried the wide mouth 1 litre jars. My muffins turned out great except that the lid needs to be bigger than the base. I had to slice the muffin in the jar to get it out. It was delicious. Just picked up wide mouth jars, with smaller base. For another batch. This is so exciting. Thanks for your video on this. So weird that i enjoy jarring, canning more than cooking. My kids will love me via canned muffins during a crisis, like they love their dad, who cooks our yummy meals daily. Now I want to try yeast bread. Thanks again for your informative and inspiring videos. 😊
I made 3-dozen cakes in a jar opened 1 up after week and it smelled of mold ended up wasting all the money and time by throwing it all out so I winder what I did wrong that mine went bad within a week? I followed the directions on the box as if I was making it normally maybe you have an idea?
Could you please let us know where you get your jars and lids? The one piece I've seen you use? This is such a wonderful idea, I remember my Mother doing this when I was a child but didn't get the whole process from her, unfortunately. God Bless you.
Absolutely thank you 😊 I am wondering about the one piece lids. Right now I have been using the rings and inner lid but I have seen the one whole lid and would like a reputable producer of them.

Thank you🎉
Wow I can’t wait to try this
@@WlkInDWdz I know that the Amish folks have been doing this during their lifetime and they are strong as bull. Lol! But it's true.
Factories have very similar methods to preserve foods in tins and glass jars. Not that many people are used to doing this nowadays. Useful 😊
I grew up off grid in Brazil and my mom used to preserve our bread like this! Awesome video!
Bak in the early 80’s when I was in college my mother make zuc bread and banana bred for me to take back to school as well as other meals in a jar. Convent home cooked meals while away from home.
Your mother Loved you very much.
A taste of home when away, must have given comfort ❤
The disclaimer that this is not FDA "approved" is a huge plus especially considering they approved all those harmful chemicals to be put in our food...will be doing this soon :)
They do not want us to be healthy and self sufficient
Considering some of the things the FDA has allowed to be put in our food, not sure how much trust to put in them anymore
Now imagine if they allow that how bad the stuff is they don't allow?
So dang true!
Amen to that!!
GREAT POINT! 🤣
Amen
What a great idea!

great tip! Thanks!
Now this, I’ve never done. Or seen first hand.👍🙏🏻
I just made this recipe and I got four perfect pint loaves from it.Very beautiful and tasty.
Pooh! Can you do some demonstrations of different baking recipes? Please!!!😊
Sure thing

OMGOODNESS I'M IN LOVE ❤️ WITH THIS IDEA!! YOU ROCK SWEET SISTER!! GODS BLESSINGS 🙌
Your so knowledgeable about food prep. What an amazing video.
That's great. I purchased the canned brown bread in the past and it was very moist. This is fantastic!
Just when I think I've heard it all! WOW. So interesting. Thanks for sharing with us.
This is awesome overload! Gotta get more jars for this, thank you ❤🙌🏻🙌🏻
This is so wonderful for those of us without much freezer space. I usually make two breads and freeze one, but I don’t always have room to freeze one.
This would make a great gift 🎁!!! ❤ from Maryland

Thank you. Very clever
I’ve been wondering where you’ve been! So excited to watch your new video! 😊
I am so impressed. I never knew that this could be done.
The 1 1/2 pt jars are hard to find but they a great for breads.
Azure carries the 1 1/2 pint jars
This year Home hardware had a deal on 750 ml or 1.5 pt Bernarden brand.
Azure Standard have them
would love to see like a sandwich bread in jar video..
Love the video, only thing is how many minuets to cook in the oven? Love all your videos. Thankyou for all your time in sharing your talents
Follow your recipes as usual. The banana bread was 350 until a toothpick comes out clean. Around 40 minutes
I am going to try this with brown bread. I used to make it regularly in coffee cans in water bath but the end is open with aluminum foil-Delicious, but you have to eat it right away.
This is WONDERFUL!!! I can’t wait to try this and give as gifts!!

Thanks. Will do
Wow! I absolutely love this and am totally going to do this! Thank you so much! 💖 Could I add pecans to the mix?
It will reduce the self life so I don’t, if you know you will be eating it pretty quickly you can
Have you ever had cake in a can, they used to sell at stores.
You can make jelly from apple juice!
Wow! Thats amazing and a fabulous way to use up old bananas for extended deliciousness! Thank you for the great ideas!!!!
Is it possible to make a white bread loaf(yeast) this way?
Yes
This is so cool! Thank you
Absolutely genius!!! tyfs
You also want to make sure there straight jars. Not curved at the top.
Yummy
You have one for regular bread.. plus how do uo do biscuits
I’ll make some videos on it soon
Smart!
The reason this is a slightly risky technique (and I do mean slightly) is because even though the bread is heated to the “sterile” point and the lid vacuum seals itself when it cools, the remaining air that is trapped in there may have mold spores or bacteria that can grow while it’s on the shelf. I have been pressure canning for years. I like this idea question for does the oven sterilize the jars as it bakes the bread
Yes your baking at 350, a pressure canner only heats to 240 so the oven will get the glass hotter than the pressure canner. So it will sterilize it
Wow! Never even heard about this before! So great! Question: I like to put pecans in my banana bread. Do you think it would be ok to put nuts in the bread???

Can be cooked in a Dutch oven too????!!!! Amazing!
Definitely going to try the banana bread recipe thanks. Does anyone have a DIY recipe to replace the Jiffy box mix for cornbread?
Thank you so much. BTW: I haven’t trusted the FDA in years. I’ll have to try this soon.
I like that blender, what kind is it?? And I'm doing this!
It’s a ninja
I used a bread recipe from Poor Man's Cookbook, and it had almost the same amount of ingredients that yours did....but it made only 4 jars of batter. And the batter was so thick I had to spoon it into the 'cans'. It also took 45 mintutes to bake .
I did a double batch so that’s about right
@@SurvivalHT OH! no wonder mine was less!
Did you preheat the oven to 350 degrees like you normally would for bread or do you start with a cold oven so the jars are not shocked by the temperature? I love your videos. I'm learning so much. Thank you so much for sharing these techniques!
Some people pre-heat but I always start from a cold oven
So cool ! Cant wait to try !
How long do we cook for and what temp ?
Follow your recipes as usual. The banana bread was 350 until a toothpick comes out clean. Around 40 minutes
@ thank u !!!
Quarts are too big. Stick to pints or half pints. And yes you can use boxed mixes
Does this work with white bread recipe since white bread has to rise?
Yes
Mason jars baking recipes please!!!
Tip: This is the perfect shape to make English muffins for egg sandwiches!
Where did you find your beautiful flower centerpiece? 😍
I made it ❤️
How many jars does your standard recipe make? You doubled the batch in the video right?
It did you triple that?
I doubled it and got 9 pints
I love baking banana bread in a jar to bring camping. One less thing in the fridge.
But we need the temp and length of time plz.
Follow your recipes as usual. The banana bread was 350 until a toothpick comes out clean. Around 40 minutes
@@SurvivalHTty I was gonna use yours! My “go to” is 350 unless dark pan… can’t wait!
I would love to try zucchini bread bc I make that often. Would chocolate chips cut down shelf life?
They are fine. They are full of sugar so they preserve well
Did you start in a cold oven and how much did long
Yea started cold and Follow your recipes as usual for time and temp. The banana bread was 350 until a toothpick comes out clean. Around 40 minutes
Thank you
@@SurvivalHT
Would adding nuts to the batter make any difference in the canning?
@@suzibikerbabe8073I would think adding nuts would shorten shelf life. Oil in nuts
Looks good but no cooking time. 30 minutes maybe? 350 degrees I’m guessing? Please let us all know. Thanks.
350 until a toothpick comes out clean. Around 40 minutes

I'm curious... Would this work for other baked foods that contain meat, etc.?
Thank you for your great content!
No, meat take either pressure or long times in high temps. Like 3+ hours
@SurvivalHT Thank you!
Amazing!! And I have an excuse to but more mason jars lol 😂
Does the oven affect the jars in any way? Could I still use those jars for WB canning?
It doesn’t hurt the jars
@ perfect, thank you so much 😁.
Great idea. I’m doing this. What oven temperature? And how long?
350 for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
Ps. You’re using 500 ml jars. I don’t feel like buying any. Have you ever tried a 1 litre jar with extra added?

i,m really interested in this, i wonder if you could can fruit cake as in xmas fruit cake?
So you don’t need to put these in the fridge? Just in the pantry….amazing
I didn’t hear or see a temp or for how long. I’m assuming the same as if we’re baking it in bread pan?
Yes
@ awesome! Thank you 😊
For us dummies, how many bananas in 2-1/3 cups?
It depends on the size of your bananas, but probably 3
If you have it kept in a place that "might" freeze...????
