We were the first "retail" dealer in the UK to start quoting buy sell prices on gold sovereigns and Krugerrands, way back 1971 (from memory). It's a littl more difficult to do it for 20,000 products, but I do agree with your line of thinking! 😎
@@lawrencechard5914 It's very easy to buy from you because 1) you state the premiums, and 2) buyers can sort by 'best value' and 3) the prices on the search results pages are basically the same as the actual price for any number of coins (rather than being the price for purchases of e.g. 5000 coins and when you click through a single coin is considerably more expensive....This all makes it easy to browse and see if there are any attractive deals. On other sites you need half an hour and calculator to check if there is anything worth buying.
Dear Lawrence, I really really like all you videos where you're checking the Sovereigns' gold content using your X-Ray spectrometer machine. I'd love to see some more videos, where you'd be checking the gold content of some other alloyed gold coins (like the 20 Coronas - I always wondered home they're so bright and yellow, while being just 90% pure - they must be alloyed with silver I guess? - or some 20 Francs - I've heard the post-war Rooster restrikes have had slighly lower gold purity than they meant to have - e.g.: 0.895 instead of 0.900 etc). I hope you find that idea interesting. Another great video. Thank you!

I have been a client of Chards, for almost 3 years now. I do regular buys throughout the year. I have always found Chards a very reliable and easy to do Bussiness with. Very Professional and helpful. Thank you Lawrence for your Custom.🎉
Try buying with your bank card, they will not except it over the phone, only transfer from your bank or check sent. They really do need to get with modern payments.
@philippayne4951 recently, I sold my gold bar and asked for coins as they are CGT exempt. They sent me the box and Courier service. Collected, from Home, checked and called me to fix the price, and sent me the coins. No hassles at all.
Grading by non carding entities can be misleading, Buying a coin date that fills a date run that's rated as fine or very fine, only to find that it doesn't compare favourably with your existing examples. The problem that doubles the the disappointment is that because it was a missing date, you probably paid more than you would've paid.
I can understand that, although I guess you intended to say "by non-grading companies". IMO most slabbed coins are graded higher than I would have graded them, with the possible exceptions of some of the top grades, from about MS65 upwards. 😎
A thought about free postage with the insurance being so low these days it would be a bit risky buying more than one Britannia at a time anyway at least using the post office special delivery.
We have our own insurance which includes cover for "sendings", up to various levels depending on how we ship, but when we send RM SD, we only need to use their minimum cover, then our own policy takes over. 😎
Wise words and very good advice given here. I am still disappointed with the silly t-shirt and lack of collar and cuffs. This is inexcusable attire for a gentleman of your standing. However, I shall highly recommend you to my nephew who seeks to acquire some yellow metal. Many thanks for your videos.
The tee shirts and sweatshirts do feature some "Thoughts of Chairman Chard" philosophies and mantras. I don't remember Aristotle wearing a formal shirt with collar and cuffs to make himself look smart!
Well said , I don't remember Aristotle at all, I am far too young at only half a century. That was a bloody good video you did there , very succinct and valuable information for those who want to know. Best wishes to you.
Hi Lawrence, this might be boring for you but would you consider doing a video about the range of non GCT bullion that Chards sell? I know you like the sovereigns but there is so much more on the website. I’m thinking gold but I know folk like silver too. Ps have all the examples on the table to let us see.
Not boring at all, just that we have a mountain of RUclips video ideas, and we often add in something topical, and we struggle to shoot one every week, and occasionally two. 😎
I'm fine with "Loss Leader" deals. If you're savvy you just take that one deal. It's not difficult to educate yourself on market prices and which dealers are the cheapest - I use 3 dealers which have consistent competitive prices. If the dealer tries to upsell me via spam email/phone calls I'd just block them. A good idea is to offer deals to encourage loyalty then the new customer can see your prices are competitive when they start shopping with you.
As I think I say, loss leaders are OK, in fact I often give sone of our competitors a free advert on The Silver Forum, for their loss leaders, but also warn to avoid the follow up overpriced stuff which the company then tries to sell them. 😎
If I buy a krugerrand at 0% and buy a pre owned at 0% what are the chances of NOT getting a krugerrand? Because if I want 2 I’d get them at 0% but I’d like to buy something different from the other deal you have but not end up with a krugerrand? Thank you
I don't understand your question. Our Krugers at 0% premium is not a loss leader, and there is no practical limit on quantity. You might be better to speak to one of our Customer Service Team on Monday. 😎

What annoys me is when a dealer advertises a Sovereign at £525 but when you try to buy only one the price increases by £15. Chards don’t do that, ATS bullion is one of the culprits. 😡
That's news to me about ATS. Harrington and Byrne ask more if you want to buy more than one of their loss leaders, thus revealing their true pricing. 😎
It depends when you buy it. Gold fluctuates daily, and can vary during the day. I have bought a lot from ATS bullion, and this is the problem with gold.
Yep, would be brilliant to match Atkinsons recent spot price "loss leader" on 1/10th gold Britannia offer last week which I took advantage of as a long time customer, as also I am with Chards...😊😊

Yes, guaranteed price match is also there to add assurance, it has the side-effect of stopping customers looking elsewhere in the majority of cases, with the minority of them, just being accepted as a lower margin sale.
I haven't heard of any of the five dealers whose ads were banned by the ASA. I think you deliberately didn't mention them to impugn your rival dealers.
That sounds very cynical. The was little point in naming them, anyone who wanted to know their names could click the link we provided to the ASA site, and read the full details for themselves. Our videos are too long as it is! 😎
We can never really predict, because it depends what comes through our doors, or through the post, then they often sell out quite quickly. We sometimes have awaiting list. 😎
Apart from outright fraud, my least favourite dirty trick, is dealers paying youtubers to sell FOMO based around absurdly optimistic price predictions. I think this undermines the bullion market, more than it helps it, because you'll have an endless churn of irritated marks, that went hard, didn't get the gains, then they give up and sell all their bullion. The dealers are looking for short term winnings by fleecing suckers, over year on year steady growth through finding a better message that they can use to underpin the idea of holding gold and silver.
There certainly are a lot of people hyping precious metal prices, shortages, conspiracy theories, and the like. It is probably worse in the USA, where there seems to be a high proportion of gullible people. 😎

Every dealer should have ; 1. Percentage over spot price. 2. "We sell at", "We buy at" for each product. Complete transparency.
