India's First UnderWater Metro in Kolkata : Opening Ride Esplanade to Howrah Maidan

  • India's First Underwater Metro Kolkata Tunnel
    The much-awaited East-West Metro's lower Ganga section passenger services began today. Metro route from Esplanade to Howrah Maidan is 4.8 km. Out of this, the metro line under the Ganges is 520 meters.
    There are total 4 stations from Esplanade to Howrah Maidan. The entire path below the Ganges is decorated with blue lights. So that passengers can understand when the metro is passing under Ganga. A total of 130 metros will serve passengers throughout the day on this stretch. Metro services will be available every 12 minutes during peak hours and 15 minutes during other times. The first metro of the day will depart from Howrah and Esplanade stations at 7 am. The last metro will leave at 9:45 PM. Metro services will be closed on Sunday.
