Dean Martin sang “My Rifle, My Pony and Me” with Ricky Nelson in the 1959 film Rio Bravo. Dean Martin’s daughter Deana Martin said his heavy drinking was merely a gimmick. Most people when they watch Dean Martin perform are under the impression that alcohol is in his glass but really it was mere apple juice. My favourite Dean Martin songs are “The Peanut Vendor” “Not Enough Indians” “In the Misty Moonlight” and “Open Up the Doghouse (Two Cats Are Coming In)” a duet he performed with Nat King Cole.
Relax, Don. I'll rate it for you. I'll give Dean a solid TEN for this song. The instruments alone deserve a ten even if you don't throw in Dean's terrific voice! And I would love to know who the man is who throws in that extremely low "Babombom" (okay, admittedly I have NO IDEA how to spell it) a couple of times at the end of the song because to my mind that is just the crowning touch for this song.
The pridel of Steubenville, Ohio, my Uncle Frank Valli (no not that Frankie Valli)used to regale me with stories of Deano and the rat pack hanging out in Vegas, loved it
Always loved Dean Martin's voice. Google gave me Dean Martin, Merle Haggard, and Robert Mitchum (!) doing this song but I remember a lot of TV performances by Faron Young.
The most surprising recording of this is definitely Robert Mitchum.......no kidding! My favorite will always be Merle H. But ol Deano did a good job here.
Dean was one of our best. Better even than Frank Sinatra. You should listen to him sing "My Rifle, my Pony and Me". Dean Martin died December 25, 1995. What he was drinking on TV was apple juice and he hated apple juice.
I think you should watch this video of Dean Martin, entitled the King of Cool (that name given to him by Elvis himself). I think you will really enjoy it. He starts off with 'Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On', which is another song I grew up listening to. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/vy5HkkQG3YU/видео.html
Good pick brother! Oh man (I am not that big of a Springsteen fan either, the Tom Joad song was pretty good) to admit that live on the WWW to potentially billions and billions of people coupled with the fact that you are a fellow NJite is putting your life at risk 🙂I am not a Bon Jovi fan either, but I did like Blondie! I always got a kick out of the Dean Martin Roasts.
What a spectacular talent. His voice is untouchable.
I have to admit that I love some Dean Martin, His vocals are like none other...Plus he manages to take me way back and remember my late mother...

1967 hit. Imagine this on the radio with the Supremes, the Rolling Stones. We were the definition of diversity.
The original Italian Stallion.🤜
I love the song he sings,IN THE MISTY MOONLIGHT
Dean Martin is a pleasant surprise!
Dean was young when he did this. But they probably didn't think it was country.
I think Dean sang about anything that had to do with drinking.
This is a cover of the Charlie Walker song. Merle Haggard also did this, but the version I am most accustomed to is Mel Tillis singing this.
I remember this song, but didn’t think he sang it.
Farron Young had a country hit with this.
I love Dean's voice. It's smooth as silk. Thanks for this video!
Just gotta remember, The King of Cool, was also a great actor in Western movies too.😊😁😎

Not heard it before but I think it is nice 🙂 love the start of it 4sure
Love Dean didn't know he could sing country. Thanks
Like Ray Charles, he did a whole album of country songs in his unique way, mid to late 1960s.
Dean has never sang a bad song. I had a friend that sounded just like him. Thanks for playing this.

I've got a great wine drinking country song for you. Marsha Thornton had "A Bottle of Wine and Patsy Cline" in the early 90's.
Morning Don, I am not a big fan of Deano but I had heard this song, loved the harmonica.
You should bump Hank Williams Jr. song All In Alabama up on your song list. Can’t wait to watch you hear it.
Another favorite singer. Can't get much smoother!! He was an awesome storyteller. Springsteen? Yuck.

you should definitely listen to showaddywaddys cover. It’s an awesome rock version of this song

Am I mistaken or did Dean have a country album?
he did a string of country albums through the 60s and the 70s
Dig it*...
