Made my own version of one of these types of stoves from 22 gauge 304 stainless. I CNCed each side and they slide and lock together along with a removable shelf to allow you to use an alcohol stove in lieu of burning wood, charcoal or wood pellets. Also incorporated adjustable vents on three sides and a closable feed door. After a few hot burns and some readjusting, there are no warping or weakening issues. It all folds up to a 4"x4" sheet. I also made an interlocking, wind screen made from 4" x 3" pannels of roof flashing with locking tabs that enable you to add not only width but also height with two sets of female and two sets of male tabs on each pannel so you can make it as high and as long as needed. I made 30 pannels altogether and take as many as I need for whichever type of stove I'm using at the time. I also sewed up a cinch bag from an old folding chair cover that it all fits in.
Using a smaller cast iron is a great idea, especially when you consider cooking with an aluminum pan versus cast iron, always choose cast iron
Nice little flat stove.
